Carries up to four passengers inside the fuselage of an open cockpit bi-plane. What a weird and awesome design.

I was 12 years old in 1976 when one of these crashed about 50-60 feet from us at the Toronto air show. He never pulled out of a dive. It was so violent and loud, I will never forget it. People clapped like it was part of the show. I asked my Father why they were clapping and "he said because they are idiots". It stood on it's nose for a few seconds then flopped down on it's belly. Two teenagers dove in and swam to it. They climbed on and lifted the pilot up so he was sitting on top of the back. He was wearing a leather helmet and when he lifted his googles blood poured down turning his whole face red. Finally a police boat arrived and it seemed a like forever but eventually they pulled a second unconscious person out from underneath the pilot. Both survived. I never understood why or how was under him like that because the passenger compartment was under water. Now I know. weird design.
