    Another great video! My Thai wife and I bought a used home in Pattaya for $105 CAD and did some renovations on it for another $30k CAD. It always amazes me how inexpensive homes are in Thailand (outside of Bangkok and other tourist destinations) when compared to Canada. I hope Tik feels better soon. Have a safe trip back home.

    Nice vlog Glen, before, during and after construction and very fast, it's amazing the hours the Thai workers put in with all the heat. Something that baffles me is not using double walled thermo blocks and not insulating the loft to the max like we do in Canada. Thailand has to deal with very hot weather all year round and if I build a home in Thailand it will be well insulated.

    • @GlenRobertsonMusic
      @GlenRobertsonMusic  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So true, and with the rising cost of electricity, you would think everybody would be putting insulation and double walled blocks.

      the strategies involving house with hvac/heater units in cold/hot climates are abit different than those with no(minimal) minicons in hot/humid climates. its been an interesting study surveying houses are built in Thailand. similarly look at house in middle america and caribean. ac is a luxury.

      Good video Glen. I am looking at a double wall with either this kind of brick or the red brick. Cavity wall helps with insulation.

      I’ve never seen a basement here. This is likely due to the flooding

    The things that annoys me with thai built homes is the state of the block work, they rarely install gutters , every build is based on those poured cast concrete square pillars, the ground works rarely get finished , the blue water pipes protrude everywhere, roof insulation is never a priority, and they always insist on an outside extra kitchen ,. Dont get me started on the furnishings and the usual sala pitched up out in the front,. I know its the thai way but i bet most of you reading this agree with my observations,. Good things , the roofing usually looks great, the tiling is spot on, and the finished article looks fantastic, best part is the price and flexibility of building regs,.

      Just my opinion, but it’s likely to do with family visiting or to come to live with them
      A lot of people are either taking care of their elderly parents or their children’s children

      Some got into the habit during the China virus pandemic, but during "burning season" mid-January through March, farmers throughout Thailand , Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam burn (illegal but never enforced) their fields before the next planting. The air pollution is horrendous, and some Thai people are educated enough to wear N95 pollution masks. The worst part of Thailand for air pollution is often the Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai area. Just look at the mountains in the background of the video, and you can see the air pollution, and it gets so bad that sometimes you can't even see those mountains from that short distance.
