- Medway council have decided to turn the ring road around Chatham Town Centre back to two-way traffic after it being one way for a number of years (which actually was better), part of the transition is demolishing a flyover. They've made one part now 'Buses & Taxi's only' and for awhile had signs directing traffic to go into the car park and turn around so you could go back the way you came. Shrewd dudes now go in to the car park cut through and leave via the other entrance which totally defeats the object, Medway Council have created a 'rat run' during rush hour times (incl school run) it can be quite dangerous (I video'd this route on a quiet Saturday morning at 09.00hrs). Incidently Medway Council charge users of their Car parks up to 10pm and their Car Park ticket machines don't give change so they seem more interested in generating money than creating a safer environment - Rant over! :-)
@IceSlice21 - Since Medway Council closed this Car Park and restricted access by making Medway Street Buses only we've stopped using Chatham altogether for our shopping, we now find it's easier to drive to Gravesend from Strood. So they've done no favours to the small businesses of Chatham Town Centre. Even if they complete the work by Christmas I don't think we'll be doing our Christmas shopping there because we're in a routine now going to Gravesend.
it was stupid but all sealed up now, and they are gunna make it so you cant even go the other direction to the traffic lights which means going round chatham highstreet, i find it sadly ironic that the 2 way system has now effectively become a 1 way system.
the ultimate shortcut
@TheManiacThatIsEd Not any more...........
haha i know they made a crap hole of it
