IF you are able to, could you be able to interview some very succesful edm producer and ask for example, their secrets that they do in their songs and like how is it affecting their life? Also they could give a tip for any upcoming producers who want make their music heard.
yes is true Label Radar is very good, same by remix contest / and he talk true only 20 sec from your best style to label not the Full track/ I have that foult make it and one big artist stole after my Track
Most of the labels on Label Radar ask for upfront money in order to release your track, which proves that everything it's business, including music industry, you guys should especify which labels do this so we can select who we are sending the submissions to!😊
Would disagree. There are labels on and also off label radar that do ask some charges. We certainly do not and I disagree asking artist to pay to release their track. That has nothing to do with how label radar operates but down to individual labels decisions. Very good platform and getting better all the time.
@@Tranceformer hi there! With all due respect... I said most of them, not all of them!! I didn't say it was a bad platform either, i like the platform a lot!!! Thanks by advanced! 😁
I totally agree. Not to crap on the site at all. I enjoy the opportunity label radar gives us music producers but for the past 2 years, I've had a handfull of small record labels reach out showing interest on a few tracks i sent out . Just for them to slap the "well we have a mastering programm so that your track can be thoroughly produced and showcased" which has a price. When you start asking questions back to them on finding alternative ways to mastering or even self mastering they would completely ignore you... Beauty part is, if you do just a small amount of research on the label and find out the artist under their banner..it's hardly worth the price or risk. But best of luck to all the hard working producers and labels. 🙏
Thank you so much, Sean, I really appreciate the kind words of support! I am also proud of the community for putting in those hours, supporting each other and achieving their goals! 🙏🏻
Labelrader was a godsend for me, I've had 1 track released recently and 2 more are being released soon, if it weren't for these guys I'd be still sending stuff out there getting no response. Thank you 🙏🏻.
Thanks Will, 👍🏼, I'm over the moon with it at the moment, I know I'm a small spec in the music universe but it's a big achievement for an old Dude like me🤣. Keep up the good work brother 🤜🏼.
Does anyone have experience with sending music to promoters on Label Radar? From what I see in the comments, like labels asking for promotion money upfront from the artists etc. it seems like you don't need a label for that. Then its better to pay a promoter yourself and you can have more control of it (for instance, you can keep the rights to your music yourself). Releasing on platforms is dead easy these days. The only thing you need a label for is actually the promotion and the connections they have with DJ's, but like I said that can also be done with promoters.
i have been on label radar for a bit, gotten a few tracks signed, which is great. However the idea of getting a feedback on which label(s) might be more interested in a track sounds amazing but hasn't happened yet.
A lot of labels wa t to sign you but then they want you to pay for promotions. I had 8 labels wanted to sign on labelradar or with the same strange formula of marketing.
That is a phenomenon that seems to be cropping up more. I’m going to look into it, as it seems to largely negate the point in a label. They should pay, and recoup that cost from revenue
Some labels have a selection of genres on LabelRadar that is completely different from what they actually release. Also, the genre definition for a track is sometimes a gray area, e.g. is it Progressive-House or Progressive-Trance? Is it Dance or Electro-House? So sometimes it's impossible to avoid the "don't send the wrong genre" situation. For this reason, a great addition to LabelRadar would be to have the ability to choose 2 or 3 genres that a track can fall into.
Great suggestion! It is indeed hard as genres interwine and ovelap, but the best way I found to do it is to listen to the label you would like to submit your track to and see if your music will fit into their current roster.
Great content. I think this is highly valuable to your audience. I have a question, the music we make contains samples, that’s what we’re into and that’s what we like doing, however this does pose issues. Do you have any advice for producers making music like this? For example take LF systems ’afraid to feel’ hit last year - originally was a massive sample - are labels going to be interested in this type of thing off the bat or does it present too many issues /costs that put labels off?…do they need to see support from djs first before signing? If the answer is yes then the next question to follow on from this video surely is ‘what’s the best way to get your music to active high profile djs??(which let’s face it is really not that easy nowadays) love to know your opinion on this topic
Loved this interview! I listened to it while also playing a spotify playlist in the background and it popped 10x harder! Had some synthwave in the background and I felt like I was watching a documentary about how Label Radar was the catalyst to a whole new genre of music being discovered. :)
Great question! I think today it doesn't matter where you're from. Music production is a global industry so keep up the hard work and you'll get there at the end :)
Also you should include an option to save the labels you are interested on, that way you can send your demos one to one more efficiently!!! That would be an excellent tool!

This man really just said "Skrillex and a lot of the other really early dance music pioneers" 🤣🤣🤣 That's right, Skrillex invented electronic music in 2010... 🤣🤣🤣
There’s always room for improvement, BUT what they’ve been able to achieve so far, with LabelRadar, it’s truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing, Will.
I have a sort of unrelated/but related question. I have been asked to do a remix of a somewhat famous producer, as well as 'won' a remix contest by another producer who said they would both release my remix at some point. They both said they loved it and would release it. But neither of them ever did. Is this because they didn't actually like the remix, or, perhaps my mix was not clean enough? I'm just curious if this has ever happened to you or others and what's normally the reason if there is one? Is it weird to follow up? I also hesitate to upload them to my soundcloud because i'm thinking it would deflate true release process. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Let’s be honest here , labels are a dying breed , you do NOT need a label to kick off your career in the music industry , there are so much other if not better options !
@@EDMTips What do labels actually do these days ? It would be interesting for you to do a vid on things labels actually do for artists, all I ever hear is what artists have to do for the labels and it sounds like they have to do most of the heavy lifting, so what is the label fee going towards apart from being part of a "name" ?
Maybe, but then again, when you check out any charts (be it Beatport or uk top 10 or massive amounts of spotify plays or whatever), it's hardly ever DIY self released music. Bandcamp exists but to be honest, I don't remember anyone getting famous there, with no label support at all.
Agreed. As professional of a decade and a half in the industry My advice regarding labels is to only sign if they have the inherent pre-bought connections to live venues that you have already assessed are essential for your growth. Beyond that labels have lost all power. And this 'music first' approach is incredibly naive imo. It's not how it works in the real world. A track is nothing in a vacuum, and nothing without a brand / story. Labels have rapidly deteriorating power to influence the zeitgeist and therefore your reputation, and they absolutely do not have the budget to break an artist from cold anymore. That's a minimum of 500k. You would have to be discussing with Sony universal act and it would have to be a predetermined brand deal including 360 of merchandise sync etc already sewn up.
Any business needs to have profit to operate. For as long as the business provides value to its customers, everyone should remain happy, don't you think?
Those days Artists can start their own label and upload to all streaming platforms and own 100% of the music they create. What is the benefit to signing up with a label?
Great questions! It depends on where you're on your journey and what your goals are, but generally speaking the benefits can be: distribution, promotion & marketing, audience size, support and so on.
i may have missed it but looking at their fan app it seems as though it needs updating? it's a great idea and would be great to hear the clips of other artists that are up there and what you're competing with. Good video. will look to demo some of mine on there next year when they're ready!

To avoid the problem of submitting the an inappropriate genre, I would be helpful to learn how to recognize which genre one's track is actually in. The excessive subgenrefication of EDM is, frankly, unnecessarily complicated. It feels more like a tool for snobbery than a tool for conveying meaningful differences.
