Glad you ere digging gojira, they have some really deep messages in their music. In all honesty they are probably the best modern day metal act around, live they are just fire, just enjoy it for the incredible musicianship alone and yes flying whales has to be sooner or later its trippy bit well worth it

Gojira is the first band I've gotten into so heavy since the days I first heard of Metallica, Megadeth and Sepultura in the late 80's. I mean they are on a non-stop revolving playlist now, i just cant stop. This is exactly what the next generation of heavy metal should sound like. The influence of previous mentioned bands is clearly audible in their music yet they sound nothing like them. The riffs are just so fresh and heavy, so aggressive yet musical, the drums are so fucking good, the bass hard hitting. The vocals diverse with lyrical content so befitting the times.
I kind of miss the awesome guitarsolo sometimes but the breakdowns , switch ups and outro's are so damn hard hitting you don't even notice they hardly play solo's. I guess I also really like its a band where the singer is also the rhythm guitar player like previous mentioned bands. Plays so fucking tight! They are just great, love their evolution in albums where you can hear they don't just keep playing the same old stuff like a one trick pony but age and grow up and play the music they want to instead of just pleasing a hardcore fanbase.
I like solos but i think it doesnt fit in gojira

Cool! I was at Knotfest too in Toronto and have had tickets to see Deftones, Gojira, Poppy since Feb 2020 but I'm not sure if this show will ever happen (though it's supposed to happen in 2022).

I absolutely love this dynamic, one of you is all about them lyrics and deciphering what everything means, then the other really feeling the instrumental and every sound.
It’s dope. Love this a lot.
The Way of All Flesh (where this song is from) and From Mars to Sirius (which has Flying Whales) are albums like Master of Puppets and And Justice for All. You can just put them on song 1 and let them play while you're doing whatever...for me it's just walking but it could be anything because they're all really well put together albums as a whole. Gojira's latest, Fortitude, is another one with the great Chant a slowdown intermission if you will. And while we're at it, Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime (total 80s religion and corruption concept album extraordinaire). Anyway, that's all I have to say about that. I know there are tons more albums out there that are (best?) experienced in their totality, in order, but these are the ones I'm familiar with.
Anyone else? Surely there are some Tool aficionados who can recommend...Slipknot?

I just wanted to say I'm thoroughly enjoying your channel. But particularly the way you're vibeing with the music Lex. It's great to see someone grooving and almost dancing to metal. I've been a big metal fan since I was a teenager, but I love all music. And a lot of the time when I'm at home and listen to songs like this I dance more than I head bang. And when I'm at a gig I'm a huge mosh pit fan, but I'd love to see more people just grooving to the music if that's what they wanna do, as I know it's certainly something I feel inclined to do but feel out of place doing at a gig.
Stopped sleeping on Gojira about 5 months ago. They've been my current favorite since. Gonna see them in Louisville and can't wait. You must keep on this train. My faves of theirs

Gojira- My Last Creation, most underrated song
Love Gojira. Ive been following them for a while. These guys are so talented. They are one of the few metal bands where the vocalist doesnt ruin the amazing groove of the song. (For me). Love Lex's energy. You must take that girl to see Gojira live when the finally get around to touring with Deftones in 2022.

I've listened to this song well over a hundred times and just recently I started noticing how slick that bass is over the ending breakdown. Fucking savages.

the song is about overstimulation, the narrator wants to close their eyes so they can relax rather than get caught up in complexity, stimulation, materialism, technology, etc
Not only are Gojira a thought provoking, kick ass band, they are also environmental activists.
I've always pictured in the last part of the song traveling down a color shifting almost kaleidoscope tunnel. Like this is the soundtrack to the journey. It's time. You traveled light. You've prepared. You've died. Now let us play you into eternity. To the unknown.

Ego Death - Meditation that's what this song and lowkey much of this album Way of All Flesh is about. They are a very smart band keen on their Esoterica but i digress. Glad you dug it. Esoteric Surgery is another favorite of mine from this album with a very dope subject matter. Flying Whales is definitely something I agree with the rest of the commenters about. Amazing song. Cheers

The beginning of the song is chaotic, while he is working through the meaning of life and death. AT the end when the song has no more words and just groove... he has come to terms with the fact that he must live.. and he must also eventually die....
