      @@mikemiller659
Well, they're not treated, the material is depleted uranium. It's naturally radioactive. It is denser and heavier than lead, so a smaller balance weight can be made that takes up less space using depleted uranium rather than lead, and it will weigh the same as a larger lead weight. Given enough time, like several billion years, depleted uranium will continue to decay until it becomes, yes, lead.
The slugs for some large military machine guns are also made of depleted uranium rather than lead.

Here are some ideas with some of the bits that are inside the wings , the formers on the wing that are wing shaped . Try to cut them out in one piece and fit speakers in the round holes , you could use some of the strengtheners or pipes as uprights and make some speakers stands or instead of speakers a upright light stand . Any of the lights could be made into desk lamps and the leading edge of the wings cut into sections with lights fitted into the insides again some sort of lamps . The skin could be polished cut into smaller sections mounted on a bit of varnished wood with a plaque on it explaining it's a part of the Elvis jet with serial numbers to make them more official ( so no con artists can cut up a red car and do the same and claim it's from the Elvis Jets ) . And another idea !!! cut some of the skin into jet star shapes for key ring fobs , engraved on the back Elvis jet and maybe the name of the person who bought it . Small idea's i know but these could be an idea for the bits that are left over from some of the bigger idea's that im sure other people with more imagination will think of . Now i need to have a lay down as my head hurts from all this thinking , thinking like words is hard !!! . Love your video's as always , the Elvis jet will live on in many forms and make lots of people happy .

  • @falconuruguay4588
    @falconuruguay4588 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Jimmy...you can take the T-shaped ribs, and cut them into thin sections, and make them into keychains, by drilling a small hole, and adding a split ring.
You can make thousands of them, and sell them for a more affordable price point.
As for the metal tubes, you could cut them into set lengths, add removable caps on the ends, and sell them as cigar holders, or mount the larger tubes to a piece of wood, and make them into executive pencil holders.
As for the wiring, you could have it melted down and made into copper slugs, which can be stamped into commemorative numbered coins, and any aluminum scrap (dust, small bits, etc.) can be melted down, and get the same treatment.
Parts of the spars can be cut, get a slot punched out of them, and made into "Remove Before Flight" markers, with the addition of a rubber lanyard or plastic luggage strap.
As for the larger pieces, like the ailerons and such, market them like those wooden props you see at most airports...just mount them to a base, and laser engrave them with the appropriate markings...it would be the centerpiece of many an FBO lobby.

3k pieces at $100/each would pay for the plane and give you $57K to restore the rest. And if you get more for larger pieces then that will only increase the amount going toward restoration. I know I for one would love to buy a piece and give it to my dad as a gift. He met Elvis in 1977 I think. Elvis was in Fayetteville NC and my dad was a deputy sheriff working security. He got his picture taken in front of the stage and Elvis standing behind him singing over his shoulder. It was in the papers and was then put onto one of the albums. He would LOVE this souvenir.

I love this project, personally I don't think that you should scrap anything. Every single piece is something that an Elvis fan anywhere in the world would want, for example tiny little pieces can be used for can be made of value by the engraving and COA. Every two inch length of pipe from anywhere on the plane can be engraved and mounted on a nice plaque with the COA and the details. Every single piece of zinc oxide can be used for a cool dash for the rat rod community after the laser surgery And garrentee that there are artistic people who can even use the wiring to make profiles of Elvis on a nice piece of wood with the COA. I going way too far but IMO selling it in 2 ft by 2 ft chunks defeats the purpose of raising the most money. I can see how a little credit card sized piece with rounded corners and lasered up with the COA will an easy international sell especially b/c Europe is so much more into the music of the early days... that project was way different. like way way different your talking about a huge enormous plane in comparison of size, stuck in the middle of no where on a time limit to reach it and hoping you have a plane big enough to get there. i mean theres ALOT of differences. and in the end that plane caught on fire because of something like a loose bolt the gas tipped over and caught on fire inside. but with that being said i dont think redoing the entire navigation panel on this plane after it had been picked apart would of been to safe when i saw the desert footage of it. in the case of kee bird i dont think really any inside parts were gone i think it was just the engines if i recall that were bad. but elvises plane many people could reach it and explore it and mess with it. but it was alot easier to access. and since the guy has it in his shop he could of had the time to take time to restore it to fly which prob would of just cost way to much.

The link to Elvis is questionable at best, sure elvis’s company purchased the aircraft but it was a few months before he died. Elvis never personally flew onboard and the interior isn’t original anyway. It’s interesting being an early jet star model but it was in a very poor state. Even with the “Elvis” link he still massively overpaid for it, it’s been up for auction several times over the last decade and didn’t sell (likely as the sellers wanted far too much for it trying to cash in on the Elvis name)

@@samb5327 I was particularly annoyed at how , when his wife toured the plane, he side stepped her questions any normal person would ask. The age of the microwave, VCR, etc. If Elvis chose the interior. Or if he sat in it.... he knows damned good and well that he got scammed, and he's passing on the buck to his fans, and not taking the hit like a man who made a mistake. Have you seen what he's charging for his silly medallions?? Insane!

@@ripn929707 yeah he must know he’s massively overpaid for what is essentially a scrap aircraft, I did see the prices of them, had they been reasonable I’d have bought one as I like the idea but even with a sale it would have been over £200 and that’s before shipping 😆

You should put the plane on the chasis of an RV or flat bed and have a separate drivers station. Keep the plane separate in a cradle on the truck flat bed. You should do some Elvis jet shirts too!

If you still have a piece big enough, cut out a guitar out of that metal and use those pipes to create the bridge and create a rock guitar. It looks like the guitar that he used out of the jet and have that as a piece of memorabilia. Create two of those. Maybe one out of each wing. I don't know something that would be kind of neat...

Are there any famous Elvis artists out there? Make one of the larger pieces into a painting of Elvis. You could turn one of more of the larger pieces into coffee tables. Build a wooden coffee table, and use the metal as an insert in the center of the table, painted with Elvis in Hawaii, and covered with a piece of glass. You could team-up with one of the woodworking dudes on TH-cam.
The craziest idea would be to build an Elvis suit of armor.

Use the I-beam pieces, cut them in to narrow strips, turn them upside-down and make wine glass holders...very cool Elvis RV...
