Diesel Fuel is higher now than many years ago as it now refines to 15 % sulfur and the newer Diesals do use DTF to decrease the smoke and carbon from the burning fuel . As a younger man in the 60th diesel fuel was .16.cents a gallon when Regular gas was .32 cents. I worked in a Texaco Service Station when I was in High School after classes and on Saturdays. for several years. I own a Diesel truck which is a 2003 3500 Crew cab I have records of 20 plus years of what I paid for Fuel each time I refueled my truck and it ride up and down after 237K miles as to what I paid for Diesel Fuel
The statement that diesel fuel costs more than regular gas because the sulfur is refined out, is a wives tale, the sulfur must be removed for regular gas as well… the reason it costs more, is because what are we going to do about it., we’re going to pay for it, and the climate cult has made everyone believe it’s the biggest problem, and people buy it, because the diesel emits visible black smoke, we assume it’s dirty for the atmosphere, yet it’s heavier than air so it falls once it cools, and a gasoline engine will kill you just as dead from the exhaust., what needs to happen is, as diesel truck drivers we need to refuse to pay the price, and shut down until they fix the scam…
Which really makes sense, in a convoluted kind of way..Diesel is now refined to 15 Parts Per Million sulfur(Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel), AND, depending on where you buy it, it will have up to 20% methyl distillates(commonly referred to as 'BIO', as it used to mainly be old used fry oil and grease and junk like that), that good ol Uncle Sam has subsidized and 'deemed' worthy to 'clean up them there dirty nasty diesel motor exhaust'! But, really, diesel, way back whenever we started refining gasoline in the 1900's, was a by product of gasoline refining and was routinely DUMPED because there was no use for it. Until a guy named Diesel(from Germany of all places(YES, that was his REAL name!)) developed a motor that would run on it, and voila! Your 2 cent history lesson!
I am in the UK and love your videos. I`m a retired aircraft mechanic, 22 years air force and over 20 civil. I also once owned a big RV so this video is great and so hilarious. We have a saying here (as mad as a box of frogs) and that just about sums it up. Have fun and stay safe. It`ll be fine!!!
I live in Sarasota, FL. When I moved here when I was twenty, I did service work across three different keys where the wealthy reside. Within a couple of years I had furnished an entire house with high-end furniture, including a big screen TV. All of which was given to me from people who lived on those keys! As time went on, cars boats and even an airstream for chump change! No b.s!
@@whiffy506 no, no, no, people generally buy an RV when they retire, during their “go go” years, they use it pretty hard until they get to the point they are just too old to run a 50 foot motor home down the highways, . Now they either need to sell it, at a massive loss, or set it aside hoping their children will use it upon their retirement, but it like this one, gets a leak in the roof, or the injection pump fails, the slide out need work, the genset needs work, it needs interior update, it needs cosmetic work, it needs electrical work., now obviously this guy whom donated it, was not living hand to mouth, selling it for 5k would have done him no good, but been a headache.. now I say to all these countries that point to America and complain we live too fat, we waste too much.. bla bla bla, why is your country living hand to mouth, why is your government so rich and still living so modesty??? Gosh dang right. Just came from the RV video. Watched the whole darn thing. It was great especially the dancing and music at the end with Jimmy trying to stay awake😂 we all know that feeling
Working on RVs reminds me of the time I spent sailing with my dad on our CAL-34 boat during our summer cruises to the Channel Islands in Southern California. Tight quarters and a lot of moving parts where something ALWAYS needed fixing, or you would be in big trouble, especially when at sea. At least with an RV, you can pull over, get out and make repairs or adjustments. Kudos for what you are doing with this vehicle, you will get it working in...sometime, so keep us with you as you work on it.
We’ve been wondering about diesel prices for 20 years now almost. I have been a diesel owner since it was like 99 cents a gallon. Back then, we blamed Bush “Dubya”. Sure miss the high sulfur stuff, I still have my first diesel engine (6.5L like your Hummer, except I have a Suburban) and it ran spectacular on that stuff
Oh yeah, check the date on the generator. If it's pre-2002 ish, do NOT load it beyond about 3/4 or in a burst. They had glue issues back then, and the rotor will come apart, spraying the magnets everywhere, destroying the whole set in about 1/0000th of a second! I had a chunk of magnet put a dent in the outer housing once!
The most common problem I see with older RVs are the roof leaks. Over time they can cause dry rot in the frame to where they aren't worth repairing. When storing an RV putting a tarp over the roof can prevent a lot of future problems.
Reseat all connectors. Reseat all fuses. Use contact cleaner on everything. Battery terminals should be cleaned too. Basic maintenance will help tons of tiny stuff driving you nuts.
Jimmy you rock! I love your sense of humor and the fact you think just about anything can be fixed even with a coat hanger sort of speaking. I love your videos but hope for even more that you make. You have great friends to help you when you need them and I am amazed what and how you get so many different equipment running again even after 15 or 20 years have gone by. If I were not on disability after 7 major back surgeries and 2 right hip surgeries in which one includes a full hip replacement and now my left hip needs replacing I am on a fixed income and would relish some of the items you sell but medical bills and being in pain all the time just allows me the pleasure of watching your videos at least since I just can’t afford to buy a lot of the items your web site offers. I live in Texas and can’t drive due to my 5 neck surgeries and 2 lower back done also or I would love to take my wife of 35 years to Florida just to meet you and see your planes. God bless you for all you do for charities and remain safe! As you say what could go wrong with your enthusiasm for getting old planes back in the air for people to see.❤❤❤

I’ve got some experience with RV repairs and with the amount of leaks you have, plan on doing a lot of tearing out of interior ceiling and probably wall panels to replace insulation. Love the channel. This video was funny
My sister worked for Texaco and said that diesel is a byproduct of gas so he is write when he said its cheaper to make. And i remember when they couldn't give it away but once there was demand the price skyrocketed. Love the videos and i also have a 40ft diesel pusher and i love it.
I personally known several people that did this after they retired and the biggest reason they let stuff just sit like this and let it rot is because loss of a loved one and there's nobody to drive it and the finances get upside down on their rig . People just wanted to enjoy the retirement together, to enjoy the rest of our lives together after retiring.
I can understand that. If my wife goes before I do, I'll just sit and rot until I join her. Everything else will rot with me unless my kids do something with it.
I wonder if the turbo is bad on it. It shouldn't have much of an issue running 70-75mph. It barely running 60 with the pedal to the floor sounds like something it would if the turbo wasn't building any boost. Could y'all hear the turbo/blow-off valve?
The gen set drops out the bottom. There's a couple of bars that go sideways that attach to the frame, and it sits on top of those. Unfortunately, You need to have the WHOLE damn coach a couple feet up in the air. Only other option is to to slice the front end up. :(
I don't know how deadly the spiders are in America but some of the ones over here in Australia are pretty deadly. We have funnel webs , Red backs, are the most deadliest ones but we also have some that can make you pretty sick. But as long as you can see them you are ok. Plus not to mention all the poisonous snakes we have. Stay safe guy's What could possibly go wrong. 😅
Here in Texas, we have to watch for brown recluse and black widows. Most other ones are uncommon or aren't dangerous. Not sure about FL, but given the environment (hot n humid), it's probably the same. In an unrelated comment, "Hot n Humid" would be a great name for a mediocre 80's cover band.
so, this beast could be completely be straightened out in about 2 days worth of work and maintenance. Int todays RV market, it is still a 50K plus rig (even with the age and miles)and with a bit of work, it would easily go into the 60k range. All of the big pieces are already functional, so I say go for it
That looks like my 40 ft Monaco 2001. It had a 330 turbo. They are a lot of fun. My fuel pump went out $10.000 an a week in the shop. 2 years ago a friend wanted it. my wife said Hotel and room service. I SAID YES MA'AM

The problem with RV's is most people buy them, use them a few times and then life happens, and they park/sit for some time. Tires go bad, things leak, mettle line's rust, rubber lines degrade and things start working as you run them again but, things start going bad as you start to run them as well. It will be fine Jimmy. HOOAH!!!
needs a reseal on everything coming through the roof. ie skylights, ac, vents, the entire roof needs a reseal. the slide needs to be greased and cleaned. generator likely popped the breaker for it when you started it up while it was connected to shore power. battery cutoff contactors need to be checked. electric hot water element probably needs to be replaced and the cobwebs blown out of the gas side of things. water pump seems very weak and probably needs replacing. the engine is probably fine but needs a tune-up. leveling system needs to be serviced. most likely the solenoid for the retraction is stuck. give the thing a proper wash so its clean then get a new seal for the windshield.
Oh lordy. I would love to be young enough again to muster the energy to restore an RV. Not an easy task! Done it twice--the satisfaction is out of this world!
JIMMY, when you hooked up your RV it became an EV - as If by Magic - lol.. Love your scatterbrained adventures, as when you're old like me, you can tell your Grand Children the most madest adventure stories - what do you think of that! - lol. Thanks to all the team for some amazing laughs I just had watching you guys - THANK YOU - Ian - UK.
You might want to look into a good lift pump for the rv if you want the new vp44 injection pump to live. The oem unit does not supply enough fuel pressure to keep it cool
You two and your spider fear just cracks me up, my wife, and all the women in her family are just as scared of those poor 8 legged things. Me, I do research on things that I don't understand and go from there. You only have to be concerned with the ones that are poisons. Once you know what those ones are, all is good.
Diesel costs more to produce to meet the epa regs, it is taxed higher than gasoline, and the international demand for diesel/heating oil is extremely high…..
The oil companies export a lot of our diesel to European countries that largely have diesel powered vehicles. Germany incentivized people to ditch their gas guzzling cars for diesel powered cars. They charge an arm and leg over there for diesel, and the exportation keeps our supply here tight, which allows them to raise the price due to "supply and demand". They have the best of both worlds, screwing over both sides of "the pond".
You should go to home depot and buy a bucket of white roofing paint for R v's or campers tape off. What you don't want painted on top and then roll it out with a good roller. That's what I do to my camper and r v
I am a operator and have worked in a couple east coast refineries. The high price of diesel is because of taxes. Also being LSD Low Sulfur Diesel increases production costs. It has to be refined more then it used to be. But the main reason is taxes and environmental regulations.
Grizzly got his first experience in driving a VW bus in a cross wind. Same speed limits too. It's just that the VW is scaled down a little, but they randomly change lanes as and when the desire grabs them.
Is the turbo working? Since your speed is slow........you need to check with grease monkee channel who fixes these beasts on his TH-cam channel! He's out of Nashville Tennessee...
That DVD/VCR combo dates the thing instantly. Probably a Funai POS. Early 2000's. The television set looks fine though. These 90's and 2000's CRT's tend to keep working, even the high hour ones!
I had a strange dream last night that my family and I were being held against our will in a RV being driven by that big guy from Guardians of the Galaxy and we escaped when the RV broke down and it pulled into a truck stop repair bay. Weird!!! Saw your video in the morning and went to cinema in the evening to see GoG. Strange how the mind works.
That was so cool. Just fix whatever breaks and keep going. You could sell tickets to ride this thing, exactly the way it is now, all over the country! Keep up the great videos, stay safe and have FUN.
It seemed like it went pretty nice for it being free. I really dont think u could complain. I thot from the title it left u left yins along the road. But good job nice ride just need a Ajax bath it will clean it right up.
In the alte 80's, my mom, brother, and I, left Colorado Springs in a 1979 Dodge van that barely ran. Headed for FLA. By the time we got to I-75, we were taking turns holding the choke butterfly open or closed to keep it running till we got to Ft Myers. It finally died about an hour after we pulled into the campsite. Heluva ride, but the adventure was worth it.
Duck Hunt on that screen inside the RV should be doable, and would be the most awesome mod as of late! Such a great idea! I still have my original Zapper gun if you can't find one. Wish I still had my NES.
This video reminds me of when I toured with my band in my 1995 Fleetwood Jamboree. It got sketchy at times, but it always eventually got to its intended destination.
It's my last day as a rideshare driver. Jimmy said, "How much for gas station snacks? Instantly blurted out 56 bucks. I'm so glad I'm done with rideshre.

During my 35 years as a (BMW) motorcycle tech i learned that prayer worked for finding lost parts or tools. Maybe it will work for your lost #1. Worth a try.
Diesel is taxed for commercial trucks, but diesel buyers for tractors, diesel cars etc, can fill out a special fuel tax rebate form and get some of that tax back. Private RVs might qualify too IDK. I have done it for excavator and lawnmower fuel and it works, just save the recibt.
My dads back home Petrol or Gas as we say is 4.49 a gallon. Diesel is 1.50 a gallon go figure. The answer is Gas need a lot of refining than Diesel. It’s all taking money out of our pocket. It’s a govt racket dude.
Why is Diesel so expensive? First is "Greed". Next comes "Tax's". Diesel is the first part of the cracking process. Refined into different fuels from there. You are a very intelligent dude, and I am sure you already have all this figured out.
There are a couple of reasons why diesel is so expensive. First low sulfur diesel is more expensive to refine than the old style diesel. Second, the tax rate is often higher on diesel than it is on gasoline. Hope this helps.
Ouch, that hurt. You know what you need. A vacuum cleaner, which doesn't have vacuum. Outer space is a vacuum. Vacuum mean there's no air present where it is. What those devises need to be called are suctionators. They function on the principle of suction.
I saw what appeared to be a lot of water damage on the ceiling.? We had a real nice 41 foot diesel pusher. I love that motorhome only problem I didn’t like about it, was the smell of the diesel fuel.

needs a reseal on everything coming through the roof. ie skylights, ac, vents, the entire roof needs a reseal. the slide needs to be greased and cleaned. generator likely popped the breaker for it when you started it up while it was connected to shore power. battery cutoff contactors need to be checked. electric hot water element probably needs to be replaced and the cobwebs blown out of the gas side of things. water pump seems very weak and probably needs replacing. the engine is probably fine but needs a tune-up. leveling system needs to be serviced. most likely the solenoid for the retraction is stuck. give the thing a proper wash so its clean then get a new seal for the windshield.
Really enjoy the videos Jimmy, thanks for sharing your adventures and passions with us!
Oh lordy. I would love to be young enough again to muster the energy to restore an RV. Not an easy task! Done it twice--the satisfaction is out of this world!
Jimmy your having the typical problems with a vehicle that has laid for years great video great watching thanks grizzly Jimmy and jesse
Man you'd never get something like that for free here in Australia, I'd love to have that RV.
Hah, I wish I could stop being afraid of spiders simply by knowing that they aren't particularly dangerous
Theres always more than meets the eye, but Grizzly is a straight gift from God and must be protected at all cost. hahahah
Hey Jimmy I loved that you got this Rv and got it safely home
You all put Uncle Buck to shame 😅
But other then that you all made it home safe but this was a funny video
Loved it. 😂
You should go to home depot and buy a bucket of white roofing paint for R v's or campers tape off. What you don't want painted on top and then roll it out with a good roller. That's what I do to my camper and r v
That will help seal up around the air conditioner. And bubble top window
👍🏻…it’s got that ‘Breaking Bad’ vibe…definitely need to remove the muffler on the Jake-Brake
Thats not a leak on that side window its a Analogue Speedometer ;) you were travelling at 500 bubbles per minute
that must have been one hell of an expensive RV.
400-500K$ 10 years ago?
@@Trieppo as I said: one hell of an expensive RV
@@janklas7079 second hand is always good, I saw a 2018 tiffin open road allegro 36 go for $180,000
I am a operator and have worked in a couple east coast refineries. The high price of diesel is because of taxes. Also being LSD Low Sulfur Diesel increases production costs. It has to be refined more then it used to be. But the main reason is taxes and environmental regulations.
Call it Cousin Eddie. Think National Lampoon's Vacation
I agree, That bus needs some going over to make it safe to be on the roads. The Bus Grease monkey rocks.
It’s name should be Karen since it has a problem with everything😂😂
Can't wait to see this thing all cleaned up, should feel almost like a new rig.
Its alive its alive
That DVD/VCR combo dates the thing instantly. Probably a Funai POS. Early 2000's.
The television set looks fine though. These 90's and 2000's CRT's tend to keep working, even the high hour ones!
Can't wait for the detailing at the RV Wash it is going to be fun 👍😎🥳
I had a strange dream last night that my family and I were being held against our will in a RV being driven by that big guy from Guardians of the Galaxy and we escaped when the RV broke down and it pulled into a truck stop repair bay. Weird!!! Saw your video in the morning and went to cinema in the evening to see GoG. Strange how the mind works.
The spiders would have been the first thing I addressed. 🕷️
Diesel is refined twice, once to get it out of the crude and then once to remove the sulfur.
Duck Hunt on that screen inside the RV should be doable, and would be the most awesome mod as of late! Such a great idea! I still have my original Zapper gun if you can't find one. Wish I still had my NES.
Roku still has a streamer with analog outputs. Watching TH-cam on a CRT is kinda fun.
This video reminds me of when I toured with my band in my 1995 Fleetwood Jamboree. It got sketchy at times, but it always eventually got to its intended destination.
Best 50 min vid on TH-cam hands down🎉
Wow I feel bad, here in TN yesterday I paid $2.81 a gallon and saw diesel was $3.38!
I’ve figured him out! He’s about to put that jet on the Free RV chassis. I’m calling it now!
$4.49 cents per gallon, diesel fuel where I live in Australia is $1.98 per litre which works out to $8.91 per Gallon.
It's my last day as a rideshare driver. Jimmy said, "How much for gas station snacks? Instantly blurted out 56 bucks. I'm so glad I'm done with rideshre.
One of the many reason I quit FULL TIME RV'ing. They are one of the best designed and worst built vehicles on the road, and all mine were NEW.
El Mirage, Arizona
Rebuild the starter with Larry B's upgraded starter kit. Much better components than stock, and easy to fix.
What is planned for the back end of the jet ? Please use some of the original tail.
During my 35 years as a (BMW) motorcycle tech i learned that prayer worked for finding lost parts or tools. Maybe it will work for your lost #1. Worth a try.
The first thing you should have bought is Decon floggers to kill all the spiders. 😂😂
Like in the Movie RV with Robin Williams. " The rolling turd" .LOL
Most diesel in the U.S. is now lower-sulfur diesel fuel. That increases production and distribution costs.
Some people "dance with wolves"... otherz "shower with spiderz"!
Why is Diesel so expensive? First is "Greed". Next comes "Tax's". Diesel is the first part of the cracking process. Refined into different fuels from there. You are a very intelligent dude, and I am sure you already have all this figured out.
LOL this is one of the best video on this Channel yet!!!
There are a couple of reasons why diesel is so expensive. First low sulfur diesel is more expensive to refine than the old style diesel. Second, the tax rate is often higher on diesel than it is on gasoline. Hope this helps.
That RV must have cost a fortune new, It's in really decent condition and most stuff seems to work, A good deep clean will transform it 👍
This video is best of ever , so much fun love from India
Ouch, that hurt. You know what you need. A vacuum cleaner, which doesn't have vacuum. Outer space is a vacuum. Vacuum mean there's no air present where it is. What those devises need to be called are suctionators. They function on the principle of suction.
I saw what appeared to be a lot of water damage on the ceiling.?
We had a real nice 41 foot diesel pusher. I love that motorhome only problem I didn’t like about it, was the smell of the diesel fuel.
