How interesting. Drinking Christians. There was a time when we didn't hear of such a thing. But I think those that did were discreet.
What I have always done is, if I am going to drive anywhere at all, I will wait on that drink. I can have it later. Meanwhile, if an officer confronts me, I will not smell like alcohol, at all. I will be pulled over because of my own bad driving. Can't blame it on booze.
And then, when I am home, or at a home and not going to drive, I allow myself one or two beers or glasses of wine. No more. And no hard liquor -- ever.
With these guidelines I avoid excess, avoid trouble, and my driving record remains clean.
And I stick with these limits. It also avoids marital conflict related to alcohol.
Many husbands are in the dog house (dog box) every day. Alcohol control eliminates one source of conflict.

    • @turnersparadise8368

Teetotalling Christians is pretty much a 20th century US thing. Of course the Bible does warn us of being a drunk...I am with you, I make it a practice to NEVER drink when driving. At all. I never really drink away from the house. When I do, usually one or two beers over dinner, my wife drives. I do like my whiskey, but only in moderation. I am that Irish fighting drunk Cody describes when I drink too much of it. And hangovers suck...

I was a completely functional alcoholic for about 10 years straight. I'd drink a case of 24 on a daily basis and nobody knew what I was doing at all. One day I decided enough was enough and quit cold turkey, had a siezure and ended up in the hospital. That was what further cemented the fact I had to stop this right now or I'd end up six feet under real fast.

That lasted 7 years with that mind set and one day I couldn't take it any more and went out and got drunk. After that I said to myself that I can have 1 or 2 beers at one time if I really want one. I've been saying that for 23 years and I haven't had a beer and really don't care to. When I think that I can't - it bothers me to the point of having to have one, but if I say that I can if I really want to, I find that I really don't care to. Keep strong - Later

I hope you continue with your change. I was a RN for just over 35 years. Mostly ER and ICU. That politician from Washington that said nurses only sit around and play cards all shift, well let me tell you one of the things I had to do when not playing cards. Take babies the size of your daughter or young people like Jack to a morgue refrigerator. Those refrigerators don't look nice like the one in your kitchen. They are crude castings. Heavy. The inside is just a metal tray that slides out. It is cold and wet in there. No nice warm light. No soft pad to put them on. The memory of placing a baby or a child in that thing no one will ever forget. I have done it too many times. Every time a little piece of me died too (hence severe heart disease). Sometimes it was just a unfortunate accident. Too many times the driver was or had been drinking. Usually "only a couple beers". I always wondered if the accident would have occurred if they had not been drinking. Is having a beer or two worth risking a family? Seeing the videos of your great family, never in a million years. You do your best for your family (easily seen on the videos). Perhaps this will be a part of that love you show your family. The scary thing about alcohol is that it can change a person. In very bad ways. And then, it might be too late. This is a wonderful place for me to visit every day. It makes me feel hopeful with all the bad news constantly blaring. Best wishes Ken

Day 4 for me. I'll bet I can count on one hand the days I didn't have a drink in the last year. My wife and I usually have a good thing but whenever there is an argument, alcohol is definitely involved. Tired of making poor decisions; selfish decisions with my time, waking up feeling terrible, overweight and bloated. It's really hard to understand how something this bad can be so hard to get out of your life. I realize that you aren't doing it for the same reasons that I am but it is still very encouraging to hear you discuss it. Thanks, Cody.

I have never drunk liquor. I believe the Bible teaches we are not to drink liquor. So it is sinful. The Bible says, “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22, KJV. Therefore, I do not go to restaurants that serve alcohol. I don't want to be around that crowd, I find intoxicating drinks to be offensive, so I don't want to be around it. I do not want to hurt my Christian testimony by frequenting establishments that obviously sell alcohol. You may think this is nothing to be wary about, but you have probably been a drinker, or are one, so it is not so offensive as it is for someone who has abstained.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Romans 3:19-20
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

I am a 6 pack of 20 oz beers drinker. once every 3 to 4 months. That 6 pack will last 4 to 5 days...The only reason is the taste, when it is ice cold. but now after watching your video I realize I don't need it. Thanks Cody. Keep encouraging people to change for the good. Patrick from Indiana

I drink beer, maybe 2 a day. I have no problem not having a beer. What’s wrong with treating yourself to a beer/drink? I’m a Christian too but I don’t drink to the point of being “buzzed” or worse drunk. I believe moderation is the key to life.

Bet you can't quit drinking for 2 months. I drink far less than you do, maybe 2 beers a month on a good month. A couple ounces of whiskey here and there. I shrugged Cody's challenge off too at first, then I got to thinking about it. I don't need it for anything, right? Then I should have no problem going until Oct. 1. So far no big deal, I don't miss it or crave it. Can you stop for 2 months? Why not save that money. The beer isn't going anywhere.

I bet I can if I so chose too. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Coke is a worse drink nutritionally than a well made brew. Nobody is saying go drink 4-6 beers a night or drink that many Cokes, nonetheless I decided to not have any beers yesterday. I felt fine this morning as I do every morning because I do not drink to excess. I think I will extend that "beer fast" till the 4th. I do plan to celebrate the 4th with a couple of well deserved cold ones and a smoked brisket. Godspeed to all who suffer from addiction, may the Lord quell thirst. God Bless America!

  • @VickiBowers

God Bless, man. I know it’s tough - been sober one day at a time myself for a while now. Something that helps me in social situations like that is to say something like, “No thanks, I’m good,” or, “Not today, thanks.” I’ve noticed that drinkers who are drinking seem to become uneasy or something when they see someone without a drink. Sometimes they can get downright pushy about it! So I use those phrases, and I also get some beverage in my hand, whether it’s a coke, or iced tea, or water - I like sparkling water. I mean, I actually like it, and it’s fizzy, so it “looks like a drink,” so it puts the drinkers who want everyone to have a drink, at ease.
Now, coffee? I have no plans to give up my coffee. Don’t fret about the coffee.
But yeah! Congratulations on four weeks of sobriety! That’s awesome!

I've joined the gym since then and burnt 2000 calories in 2 days 😁 feels so good!

Congrats to you. It's not sinful to drink but it is to get drunk (you are not in your right mind when anyone is drunk and again the devil will prey on that) but at the same time any addiction is sinful. Praying the Holy Spirit keeps that demon away. I am fortunate and never really liked drinking. Even in my younger years. I'd only drink because my friends would. But I do have my own struggles and hard ships like everyone else. The devil knows our weaknesses and like the coward he is will exploit your weakness. God bless you brotha. Construction, heavy equipment operator, firefighter, he ran a business selling Jeep parts...You don't think what he does is work? Maybe not as physical as some jobs, but think of the mental stress of constantly having to come up with content. Of putting your life out there so idiots like you can leave nasty comments. Of having to build this channel from a few subscribers to where it is now. Many try, few actually make it like this. He earns every penny he gets. If you are jealous maybe you should try it.

Over the years I noticed something else. The drinking crowd would disdain those that didn't partake while at the same time, show abject respect for recovering alcoholics. Restaurants don't set up the fountains. They are leased from Coca Cola or Pepsico, installed, maintained and serviced by their own techs. They even have specific water filtration standards that the establishment must meet in order to ensure as close to consistency as possible from location to location.

No matter how many times We request that they adjust they concentration in our facilities, they insist send a guy out who tinkers about and makes no discernible change. In fact, it can vary between the soda gun and the fountain as well. The gun actually does get "too sweet" complaints whole our fountain "tastes flat". That's all on Pepsi in our case.
