Would love to hear about what's changed since you gave up?... I hear energy increases drastically and your brain turns into what some people call a "super brain"... Is this the case for you?
On day 8 of sobriety. Turning 50 next month. 30 years of drinking beer. Just one turns into 4 or 5 all too frequently. Time to put away those childish things. Thank you for sharing your encouraging words.
@@fyermun It is going very well. I am currently at 14 weeks and going strong. I haven't had any alcohol during this period and do not plan to. Alcohol has nothing to offer me that will improve my life. I even have had cold beers sitting in my garage refrigerator since I committed to sobriety. They were leftovers from a social gathering at our house. Have simply extinguished the urge to consume alcohol. Coming from on average 4 IPA's a day to zero is quite an accomplishment for me. I realize that it is a daily choice and am respectful of the urge. If I kept going down the path that I was on, I would eventually work up to 8 or more strong beers per day. We all know how that story ends. I am day to day happier, more productive, and less depressed. It is simply a better life for me. How is your sobriety going?
@@jtooley6554 Me too. Well I was very fond of beer. Love the IPA's a bit too much. Too many mornings feeling like i was eaten by wolves and crapped over a cliff. 30 years of drinking mostly beer moderately was wearing on me a bit. Nothing extreme other than daily drinking for periods and an occasional over consumption event. 3 per evening was turning into 4 or 5 per evening. Time to change direction. I enjoy better sleep and waking up and feeling good every morning. I wish that I would have stopped sooner. Has been a very good choice for me at this stage of my life. I have no regrets.
After drinking for about 30 years I quit on my 49th Birthday. It was slowly ruining my health. I feel better now than when I was in my teens. My only regret is that I didn't stop years ago. Thanks for sharing. If you're thinking about stopping, GO FOR IT!!
Same for me quit properly at 49 after 30 plus on/off years of weekend binge drinking plus holidays etc and recreational drugs...Only drank twice this year, def not going back to it ! 2 months sober so far :-)
Oh my gosh!! I been the same way for about 20 plus years and for the past like 7 to 10 years I been crying out to the Lord soo much to give up and I still cant do it all because Alcohol is the only thing that puts me to sleep and if I don't drink or drink enough I am being attack by demons .. please guys pray for me :)
@@JPVanderbuilt not good. It’s like I’m two different ppl. The one that wants to be happy and healthy, and the one that convince the other to do the opposite.
@@outofthefryingpan2538 I know the feeling. In a big town, about 30k people. I'm well known as a big partier. At 50 I would like to be done with the BS. Hey it was fun in my 20s, not so fun the last 20 yrs, 2 DUI s, 4 trips to the tank, God only knows how many people I've angered or disgusted. Not the best thing to be on first name basis with the po po.😳. I'm quitting and I feel I need to do it where I did my debauchery. Wish me luck 🤞
As a young man of 24 years old, and everyone my age drinking like no tomorrow and discovering alchohol since the age of 12. I decided to quit, and have been alchohol and drug free for 3 weeks now. Around the same time I got rid of social media and started to exercise everyday. I have never felt better than ever before. Some family and friends have been supportive, and some haven't which is okay. I know who are my true supporters. Thanks for the video. Much love, man! Hopefully I will be sober for the rest of my life.
@Dougie Buckets wow, man. I have forgotten about this comment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for you asking how life is. I haven't been asked that in a long time. But it is great. New job, lost some weight and living life. I drink socially now but I know my limit and make sure I get home safe more than anything.
@@timc4258 I just got "this naked mind" I'm with you and thank you for taking a minute out of your day to write me back. I've been lost for a long time.
abel velasquez jr I went just over three months without drinking but I’m drinking again. It all starts with “just one.” Good luck on your journey and thanks for asking. Seeing your question makes me want to start again.
@@jzjitsu what happened that made you fall back into old habits. I'm going on nineteen months. After the first year I stopped wanting to have a drink. It's now a distant memory. If I really feel like one I take a huge wiff of a half bottle of gin I keep around. I get that tingle and it reminds me I can't drink because I like to get drunk. Never stop trying mate.
I have been drinking about a half gallon of vodka every day for a year. Today is day one for me. Wish me well! Best of luck to all you fellas as well! God Speed!
@@raquel7123 Today is a good day to start. It is going to be a bumping ride, but you will do it. Get all the help that you can get. I would recommend AA.
I love to watch your videos. This is the absolute best one yet for me. I'm 62 years old. My daughters watched me drink for years while they were growing up. My oldest became a severe alcoholic, living in a way that totally broke my heart in two. My sister called me one evening and asked about my daughter after talking to her. She was in bad shape. She had been brought down lower than I would have ever have imagined. We went to her apartment and called the ambulance to take her to the hospital. She had tried to quit cold turkey, and almost died. She was in a coma for a few days, almost losing her arm due to an IV that her ICU nurse had not observed during the night as it leaked into her skin and burned her badly. God answered prayers for her and our family. Sorry about the rambling, but I just want people to know that we can turn from our addiction, whatever it may be. She has been well over a year without alcohol! Thanks so much for this video. You are a great example to the rest of us guys out here. I am saving this one.
In 2005 my wife gave me the ultimatum, her or alchohol. I was a functioning alcoholic while on active duty Army. I was a happy drunk who quickly lost all filters, and all inhibitions which led me to make many painful and damaging choices. Through the strength of God and leaning on my strong wife I was able to give it up and reconcile my marriage. Thank you for sharing your journey, you are in my prayers.
I hope this helps! I made an affirmation video for quitting alcohol, it has helped me and I hope it can do the same for you, good luck! th-cam.com/video/74OeYpTfQGw/w-d-xo.html
Never made sense to me much since being a kid. I mean friends drank and such, but then listening and reading (tons of journals and autobiographies) nothing good seemed to come of it in the long run. Nor ever felt like I've missed out on something as I watched fellow Marines and the like. Good on you and hope all goes well.
Thank you. I'm 2 years sober. Quit cold turkey. Used to drink 2 30 packs/week. Didn't go out. Too expensive. Your quote from Paul really got me. To be drunk is to be out of control. To be out of control is childish. We have put away childish things because we are men. It's OK for most people. But for us it is poison. I like your solution of a red Solo cup.
As the child of alcoholic parents I want to say thank you...for doing this for your kids. You, and they, will never know what a great thing this is you did for them.
My 50th Birthday I gave my family and me my best gift I never thought I needed. Quit drinking over 5 yrs ago now. It wasn’t easy, no it sure wasn’t, sometimes still is a temptation, but this fight is worth it. Gods strength to all who fight for a better life for themselves.
I hope this helps! I made an affirmation video for quitting alcohol, it has helped me and I hope it can do the same for you, good luck! th-cam.com/video/74OeYpTfQGw/w-d-xo.html
I think we've all have acted a fool while under the influence, we are humans. Live and learn. I went cold turkey in 2015 to 2018 now I can drink and just have 2 and be fine and relaxed.
@cobainzlady The military has a drug for vets who struggle with alcohol addition. There is a physical side to the craving. People do not process alcohol the same. Some are prone to addiction. I'm not saying all drunks are the victims of their genetics. There is a character and moral component to drinking, mainly the decision to take the first drink. However, your thread reads as if you think all the people who have ever been trapped by drunkenness are simply weak in character. You think you're strong compared to them? Careful. Perhaps its not alcohol that will trip you up, but you should not be so quick to assume that you are immune to common pitfalls because you possess uncommon self control. Rather, you should take warning, that "there but for the grace of God, go I".
Good for you! Alcohol killed my brother-in-law(cirrhosis), destroyed my marriage(of 28 years), killed my grandfather...etc. My sister is an alcoholic and she turns demonic when she's drinking. I'd love to help her, but it's something an individual has to overcome. Thanks for sharing this VERY important message!
Mr W, my name's Lewis I am ten years old and I'm a huge fan of your channel. I lost my father at age 2 and I've been restoring his grand force Brookes camping hatchet. I am blessed to have a small workshop and some hand tools and also a cordless drill. I was wondering if you could mention some tips in your next video or comment back. If you're reading this comment thank you for your time. Also, a very happy 2020 and I think it's great that you stopped drinking. God bless L.P.M
I have been restoring my Grandfathers hatchets and tools for a little while now. I just finished a hatchet a few days ago (just a Stanley). I do not know what condition your hatchet is in but if there is rust or it is dirty, I would take a wire brush to it. If that is working you can buy wire wheels for your cordless drill that can speed up the process. If there is a lot of rust and oxidation on the metal then you can use files to clean up the head. As for the wood you can try to refinish it with something like tung oil after a light sanding. You could also replace the handle but this process is somewhat difficult. I do not know if Grand Force Brooks sells handles but if they do I would use theirs if you can get a direct replacement. If not you can get some handles from hardware stores. You could craft a handle from scratch; however, this is difficult to do as the right wood is hard to find (at least it has been for my projects) and the making of the handle is very a very precise process. I would not want to attempt to make a handle without power tools either. Good luck on your project and learn from it. Making things with your hands is incredibly satisfying. You will make mistakes but that is how you learn. The biggest thing is not to be afraid to make mistakes.
I'm sure Wrangler will reach out to you, that's the kind of guy he is. You sound like a tremendous young man with a bright future, let us know how it goes. Would make a great video to boot.
I’m a little over 1 yr sober. You mentioned extremes: Early last summer I got pretty ripped at a buddy’s house. I was headed home and got lit up by a GA state trooper. I was on a Harley Sportster 48 with stage II intake etc. I ran. After about 5 miles (he was about a mile behind me) and splitting lanes of traffic and taking the shoulder around transfer trucks, I had something of a moment of clarity: “ If I don’t stop now I’m gonna end up on the news and not in a good way.” So I gave up. I maybe could’ve gotten away but it would have been very difficult to get off the interstate at 130+mph and down an off ramp and find a place to hide. Plus troopers have access to other troopers and choppers. Anyway, long story long and a felony wreakless driving and dui later, I got probation (and other things). So I had to get dry. First time since I was in my 20’s. I’d basically been drunk most of my life. Raging binge drinker since around 13 yrs old and totaled 4cars from blacking out at the wheel. No dui’s though somefuckinghow🤷♂️😳 Yeah so now my marriage and relationship with my kids is AMAZING! I became supervisor at work, got a raise, and my whole life is improved drastically overall. THANK YOU FOR SHARING MAN!👊🏻✌🏻
God bless you brother. I had my last drink almost nine years ago. Let me tell you, the honeymoon never has to end if you don't want it to. I know guys 30+ years sober, still on their honeymoon. Best thing I ever did, for me, I'm sure I would have been dead by now. Praying for you.
you could be a brother of mine...back in the day.....meaning, many years ago... something like this happened to HIM, my brother. my brother is a nice guy when sober...but, sadly an S.O.B. when under the bottle.... back then, with 2 little kids and a third in the oven---"an evening with the police" as we have come to say.... his life changed forever for the better. after all said and done--recovery-wise, he was VERY involved with his family like never before. later, he was a proud father of six busy/happy children....all who grew up quite happy/successful too. so i know first hand it is possible to turn a new leaf! (at some point he also stopped smoking, too.) good luck/GOD bless you Mitchell!! you can do it----you CAN!!
Good job bro, i drank hard from 18 to 36 . Some how never got in any trouble with the law, but a few close call's. Spent a lot of time alone. Long story short, got married had a daughter and decided she wasn't going to grow up seeing me waste my life. Been completely sober 12 year's now and every time i think about drinking it pisses me off that i wasted so much of my life being drunk. Do whatever you have to do to stay sober dude, i can promise you it's worth it.
I quit for 3 years in the past and those were the best, healthiest years of my life. I've since gotten back to drinking, of course thinking I can do it in moderation and maintain that level of health. Well needless to say, I kept it under control for a few months, then my drinking quickly increased after that. I think I have to accept that I'm just not a person that can keep it under control. No I don't go out and fight, or drink and drive, or miss work, but it negatively impacts my personality and health to the point of being a problem and I really really want to be done. I enjoy listening to other peoples thoughts on their alcohol use and how and why they quit.
My biggest regret is saying awful hurtful things to my loving girlfriend. I’ve damaged her with things I’ve never meant. It was the jack Daniels telling her my old pain. She never deserved me taking my own inner pain out on her verbally. I hate myself cuz she trusted me. I did quit drinking for a year but just recently relapsed. I’m done again. I’m 40 yrs old I don’t need to be getting drunk. Ever
@@KPrayfortheworld I'm the same age, it is a great time to quit. Things get ugly in the second half of your life if you have a problem with alcohol. I've seen it with family members and it's not pretty. I'm 4 months sober now, getting in great shape, and I'm so happy I made the decision to remove alcohol from my life. I wake up in the morning feeling like I want to tackle the day, versus trying to figure out how to get out of the haze that is a hangover. Best part is I remember everything I did and said the night before, and I have no regrets or fears that I said something bad to someone. I've lost 30 lbs, my skin looks better, and my head is clear. It's a no brainer, this is the way I need to be. Good luck to you and your sobriety. You can do it, anybody can.
Alcohol. I grew up in a home with an alcoholic father. The change in him after a few drinks, the physical and mental abuse my mom went through, the struggle she faced to just get grocery money from him, the times utilities went unpaid and power was cut. I could go on and on. But, I still drank as a young adult, though I never had the same abusive or negligent traits of my dad. It has now been 43 years without a drink. But, I am one that now sees alcohol as an avoidable desease with no purpose. Some people claim that they can drink socially without a problem. I don't even want that in my life. Just remember, you are an example to someone. You can choose to be a positive example or a negative one. I see nothing positive about alcohol.
@cobainzlady Your reasoning is the same as mine. In moderation it may be ok. But, for some people just a little at meal time is not possible. It is best that they totally abstain. I make a choice not to drink. You misquote the Bible .
@@feelinsupersonic1606 I wish I could say I was. I made it about three months. Best I ever felt too. I need to kick it again. That first two weeks was the toughest then it got easier. I slipped few times and never stopped.
What keeps me going is knowing how great you'll feel come morning time. No hangovers, more alert and all around feel better. But to be honest, say around day 10 or so I got over those "urges" and it became not as hard. Stay strong, u got this
18 months sober and no going back for me! After 25 years of drinking I realize now it is not necessary and actually detrimental to my mental and physical health. It really does feel good to just live with clarity.
Good timing! Alcohol has thoroughly ruined my life for about 15 years, I have quit for stretches before but been out of control for a few years again. 30 days strong, I feel like I'm actually making some spiritual progress this time. And I am crushing it at life again.
Well done mr. Lots of respect to you. I am a policeman and a pastor of a church. I have seen people loose their families. I have seen people drink themselves to death. Literally!!! I believe we should have more free clinics available for people to get help. Churches should do more to help people. I think the age for drinking should be 21. The 10 things mentioned is a great list which should inspire more people to stop drinking.
There are several factors in stopping drinking including eg motivation and help from friends. One resource I found which succeeds in merging these is the Adoette Drink Plan (see the website SebsMagicTactic.com) definately the most incredible plan i've heard of. Check out the site and amazing reviews.
Cheers for the Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Saankramer Life Card System (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to stop drinking without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work colleague finally got great results with it.
Im 19 and have a similar issue, i’ve been trying to get off Marijuana for months now, it’s controlling my life, keeping me from jobs id love to have etc. Your comment about realizing others are going through the same thing really has helped me, along with you bringing insight on how i’ll feel after I’ve turned it down. I’ve watched this multiple times now. Thank you
I've been sober a little over eight and a half years. It's amazing how much damage alcohol does to you. I'm happy any time someone that isn't an alcoholic decides to quit drinking as well, it's definitely a healthy choice.
Only 2 weeks without drinking alcohol. Had to stop after it consuming my life and involving drugs and living a glamorous lifestyle. Saved so much money, more energy and motivation is through the roof. Glad I watched this video. Wish me luck
I have quit several times over the last 10 years and always returned to my beer. Today is the first day of hopefully my last attempt. Thanks for the added inspiration brother!
High blood pressure was the #1 reason for me. I struggled with high blood pressure for several years, had to increase medication several times. The doctors just tell you to take more pills. So finally I said to myself that I need to do something different. I learned a lot about high blood pressure. I changed my lifestyle, lost weight, exercised every day. Despite all of that I still had these spikes of high blood pressure every week. I did more research and found that every organ of our body has the ability to call for higher blood pressure when this organ is in distress. So I asked myself which organ in my body might be in distress and why do I get weekly spikes of high blood pressure, especially after weekends. Do I do anything different during weekends? Yes, that is the time when I happened to enjoy my expensive, high-ABV bourbons. A few drums on Saturday and Sunday and by Monday my kidneys, distressed by alcohol, produce hormones calling for higher blood pressure. Stopped drinking, no spikes since.
This sounds dumb typing on the internet, but this explains why you overheat when severely intoxicated. I hate having to turn my bedroom into an ice box just to feel comfortable. I think I’m ready to stop poisoning my body.
Great work mate! Have you started any other "burden" after you quit alkohol? Just curious how you filled the void after drinking. Have a good one, from Sweden.
Over 25 years without alcohol, don’t miss it, just keep moving forward! The funny thing is I have been stopped several times for sobriety tests, and start laughing, because the officer states it was because of a phone tip! ... I wonder is somebody really trying to occupy their time, so they can sneak by?
I quit smoking cigarettes , weed, sugar, gambling, fast food, watching the news and dealing with crazy people, but I can't quit alcohol... after watching this I now have faith.
Mike T Sack whatever’s power got you off all those things surely can help you a day at a time to not drink. Also a likeminded group of folks and a program can really add to sober clean living! Wishing you all the best!
Have been sober now for a year. Best thing I have ever done for myself. I basically agree with all you said and congratulate you and all who are doing the same. God bless you all.
man you really hit the nail on the head with this list. in my 20s i was a severe alcoholic and ruined a lot of things in my life and i didnt even realize it. when i hit 30 i started slowing down to the point where i was just having a couple of beers every night and eventually it just naturally tapered off for me now that im 34. i havent had any alcohol in a long time and i feel great (ive suffered from deep depression the majority of my life). i started going to church again every sunday (also reading the bible almost daily) and the high i get from that is better than any drug ive ever had. people in my life have noticed the change in me and compliment me a lot and it feels amazing. im doing way better at work as well. sometimes i feel a deep regret from my actions but i know god is there for me and is giving me the power to be a better person. great video, great channel! god bless you man
When asked why I dont drink i always respond with , "it killed my father" that is usually all the answers they need. Good for you brother . I'm 3 years in .
What a wonderful genuine, honest, common-sense outlook you have, I aspire to have these qualities. Talk to as many children as you can, the world is running out of people like you, your son is very fortunate
December 15, 2019 I was 1 year without alcohol. I am 63 and loving retirement more and more every day. My body feels better as the days go on. Congratulations on 7 monthes. God bless you and your decision.
I’ll tell you the truth, this video really hit home. I love the genuine confessions you make here. My pride has kept me from admitting all of these. I work at least 80hrs a week and have a few beers a week then when the weekend come it’s full blast. This has been going on for the last 2 years, my wife has shown me videos of myself that are beyond embarrassing. Thank you for this video. This weekend was my last drink. It’s time to admit I have a problem and be a true leader of my household.
I stoped last new year, not a single drink at the new year party, holded on for 2 months, then the coronavirus made stay on quarentena, and i have been drinking like a moron
Today is day one for me. I’ve wanted to be a non-drinker for so long. My parents never drank around me growing up, and I never had the urge to drink then, but somewhere in my twenties I fell into the bar scene. Now I’m in my mid thirties, and know that I have an idolatry problem with beer. I put it over all other things in my life. I appreciate this video so much, there is a lot of wisdom to be gained from your advice. Thanks!
This is a very honest video. It speaks volumes to your character as a man. I really appreciated listening to not just the information but to the straightforward honesty. Very uplifting. Thanks man and wishing you continued success on your journey. Great example of not just talking the talk but walking the walk.
This guy hit the nail on the head. I take everything to the extreme one beer leads to twelve and the bad choices that come along with them. I hope you're doing well.
Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Saankramer Life Card System (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good exclusive guide for learning how to stop drinking minus the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my old buddy Taylor after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical success with it.
This video actually brought me back as a subscriber. That may sound silly, but I respect your candor, humility and care to put a video, like this, out. I am in the same boat. I have quit for up to two and a half years at a time and wound up "justifying" picking up a beer again. I will pray for His strength, for you, and myself as well. Thanks again!
In my old job, I saw so many lives and families broken by alcohol. So many people abused their spouses or kids while drunk, Thank you for protecting your family with this decision. Keep going brother,
I’m 27, male, also 195ish 6’ y’all. After 7+ years drinking, smoking, doing other substances through high school and college, I finally quit for good for myself, not for any other purpose. I’ve not smoked a cigarette or drank anything for over 2 years. You are correct on all these points. Very poignant observations, very well said. Your experience aligns with mine. Thanks for sharing. Life is just easier man. I’m too lazy to deal with myself and what I do when I drink. I’m done man. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. It’s hard to keep the status quo and keep cutting myself off at my knees. Love it @wranglerstar thank you for sharing with us your personal life decisions. Much appreciated.
Congratulations my friend, it's a huge accomplishment. I too made the decision to completely stop drinking a year ago. I was a daily drinker "alcoholic " from about the age of 18-31. What a diffrence it has made in my life, I feel like a brand new man. God bless you and your family
Im just a bit older than you, and I commend you on your decision. The best man at my wedding doesn't drink and I admire him immensely for it - hoping I can make that decision soon as well and be so strong as to keep it up. Don't let anyone put you down or pressure you into doing what you know is wrong for you, and keep crushing!
Thank you.. gathering mental strength prior to grocery shopping.. one week without buying/drinking wine, one trip to the grocery store and habitually buying a bottle for a Saturday night movie watching could put me back to day one quickly. Glad to have found your channel and your strength. Thank you thank you. Together!
I've never really drank my whole life. Was scared to death as a 4 year old when I stayed at a relatives house and the adults all got drunk and were arguing and fighting. My parents were not there and they never drank. I swore to myself, that whatever caused that behaviour I would never do myself. Didn't take long to figure that out. Even in my teenage years I never drank and to this day have about a half glass of wine at Christmas and that's about it. Have watched several of my relatives die and have terrible accidents from the results of drugs and alcohol. If you need it so bad you can't go a day or two without it, you likely have a problem!
I had a similar experience at 7 years old. I went to a friends house to spend the night and his parents ended up going away for the weekend, so his older siblings threw a big party. Lots of people were there, very drunk and beligerant, with a couple fights breaking out.
Congrats man, recognizing the problem and trying to improve is a point many people don't reach. It'll continue to be a struggle, and your journey probably won't be linear, it'll have ups and downs, but if you can apply that "man of extremes" and restless energy you'll make it through even if you have slip ups. You should consider professional help too, there's no shame in admitting when you can no longer help yourself, even though men are told by social norms and society that they aren't supposed to
My father died from jaundice of the liver. If you would have seen alcohol's endgame like I have, it would make it so much easier for you. You don't want to make that the way you go out.
My Dad was a Beer distributor in Texas in small town between Houston and San Antonio. I grew up running route with my Dad. He drank lots of Beer daily promoting his Beer. I saw the dark side of drinking growing up. I do not drink. My mom did not want my brother or I to take over my dad’s business. We did not. As you explained there are lots of costs paid by drinkers. I admire you for video you made and for your conviction. God Bless Todd
It's been over a year for me now. Actually for me just not drinking was the easy part. My biggest struggles have been having to deal with others that don't understand why I want to "not drink" and trying to articulate the very complex reason why I don't want to drink anymore. At first it was hard and I felt the need to defend myself, now I could care less and just let the result speak for themselves. Financially, mentally, and emotionally I'm in a much better place now than I was 2 years ago. It's a good way to live.
I just want to let you know that I am going on two years sober, and can agree with everything that you said, all ten blessings of sobriety. I had a major problem, ten beers per evening of life. The holidays my family is offering me beers, knowing that I had a problem, and I politely decline. I feel like I am letting them down but at the same time they should know better, I shouldn't have to give a reason as to why. Thank you Cody, keep up the good stuff as you are a mentor in my life.
I’m 44 years old and never tasted alcohol. Former Marine served oversees. Recently retired as a Police Officer due to PTSD. Currently working on keeping my family together. Thank you for your videos. Much respect brother.
Thanks for sharing this Wrangle, and great job! I stopped 3 months ago and started doing HIIT training and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This was TOUGH, but I lost 25 pounds. I’m 51 years old and feel great. Aside from marrying my high school sweetheart, quitting alcohol was the best decision of my life.
Cody, I have to say you are definitely a role model in my life.. I just discovered your videos a few months back.. But as someone who has battled a drinking problem after over a decade in fire and ems.... I very much enjoy the wholesome lifestyle you share with your family... You're an amazing guy.. Keep it up!
Hey, i just wanted to say, i saw this video 5 months ago and your breakdown of the improvements really helped me decide to do the same. At the end of February i decided to quit drinking, cold-turkey. The two huge impacts I saw from it are weight loss and heavy financial improvements ($300-500 per month). Today marks 20lb of weight lost since I quit (dropped from 209 to 189), so i decided to find this video again and leave a thank you in the comments.
Alcohol had an iron grip on my life from age 13 to 28, after having lost everyone and everything important to me, then i was done with it. I am now almost 64, have had a good life , with great love and respect shown me from family and friends. Good for you , life will only be better now. But always beware the goodtimes, as your gard will be down, and you may say what wrong with a few drinks. I have seen so many pick up right up where they left off with drinking .
I hope this helps! I made an affirmation video for quitting alcohol, it has helped me and I hope it can do the same for you, good luck! th-cam.com/video/74OeYpTfQGw/w-d-xo.html
Exactly. You catch yourself taking a sip of a cold beer thinking that it will be a calm day, next thing you know your 20k in debt, or fighting with someone and ruining relationships
Did 5 day break for the first time in”forever” last week. I felt like a new man. Had a few beers over the weekend but it wasn’t the same. I think I have broken the spell. I finally feel like I can just do it. 😶
I love it that u say "be discrete" it is so important! A friend of mine stopped drinking but he told everyone so..and even worse he made everyone who drank feel how bad he thinks it is..if he had been discreet everyone would have respected him for it
It has been 40 days for me . I can see the changes already , having gone through christmas and new year w/o drinking . I am really proud of myself and whatever you said is all correct.
I started drinking alcohol when I was 13yrs old... I also stopped when I was 13 yrs old, about 3 hrs after I started. Three of us started drinking a 26 oz bottle of orange gin we thought was pre-mixed so we drank straight out of the bottle. I knew I was in trouble and started walking home about 3 miles. I think the walk may have saved me. I'm 76 now and swear that every once in a while I still seem to burp the orange gin up now and then.
@@DOUBLE0SEVUN I do not recommend orange gin to anyone. Yes, every once in a while I swear I burp it up and it takes me right back to the three of us sitting in a circle on the floor drinking straight out of the bottle that we thought was pre-mixed. It tasted good then.
20 years heavy drinking and smoking, on day 3 now of stopping both. I feel very proud of mysel when I walk out the shop without buying booze. Sounds like a little thing to most, but for me it's a massive step in the right direction.
I like how humilty/being humble is a core part of your video, nice work I'm a young bloke who doesn't drink in Australia (imagine), I've altogether skipped the drinking phase but it can be hard at parties because everyone is in their own zone and I no longer enjoy that sort of thing even though I'm an energetic person. But it's fine, I can find fun elsewhere. Keep it up mate
Stay with it. I went 5 years without drinking a drop and life just seemed to fall together. It really was great. When I fell off the wagon everything completely fell apart. I lost my family and really all that truly matters to me. Now it's constant struggle. I thank you for the things you say on your channel. You speak reasonably and quite directly. Thank your for the positivity and inspiration I'm able to draw from it.
I quit drinking almost a year ago. It was tough because I really enjoyed beer, and it is a center point of most of my family and friends gatherings. I believed I was providing a bad example, and possibly harming the lives of a few people close to me (kids included). I also felt that my health was suffering because of it. I struggled with the decision for a couple years actually, and prayed about it often. God delivered me in all honesty. I feel so much better without it, and have lost a good bit of weight also. I agree with all your assessments of alcohol use in this video, and I thank you for your candor.
Almost 7 years here. A day at a time. Life spiritually, professionally, physically and mentally, completely changed for the better. Miracle. No one ever missed a hangover. Always present and ready.
December 14, 2019 was 40 years for me. When asked at social events if I'd like a drink, I do say no thanks, I don't drink. Then I explain that I quit when I started brush hogging with new cars. If I can't control myself under the influence, then I don't need to be under the influence. My wife of 42 years says I'm a better person when I'm not drinking as well.
You can do it. I struggled with pain pill addiction from the time i was 18 until last year. I'm 32 now. Started taking them after breaking my neck and fracturing my back but it turned into more of a fun thing and not so much a need all the time. Its hard to start out with but it gets much better. Been off them completely for 8 months now.
I heard Dustin Poirer (MMA fighter) challenge himself and other's to be alcohol free in 2020 (he was the first I heard to use the term 2020 vision with regards to the new year). He's a fantastic guy (keys to his city in his hometown and more). I have always admired the dedication and mental toughness it takes to be an elite fighter, in fact that's probably the biggest reason I'm a fan of the UFC. That said, I thought about my life and thought about how being healthy, making good decisions, just being the best I can be one day at a time...and decided to try to give up drinking for a year as well. The fact that it isn't easy really shows what kind of grip it has on me. I know a year is a long time...but today's day 3 and I think once I get to the 2nd-3rd week things will start to get easier...plus when I start to work out and see change I'll really start being 'high' on life that way. That's really the key, replace drinking with something that brings true joy. In fact I heard a quote recently I'll share. "you never change things by fighting the existing reality, to change something build a new model that makes the old model obsolete". I think that re-inventing yourself, and not just stopping drinking, in effect will help immensely in this battle over alcohol. The fact you realize you want to quit is huge, now it's time to use the mind over this matter.
If I have even one I suddenly head down a horrendous path. Last tuesday I stupidly gave in after three weeks sobriety and been trying to get off this bullet train of hell ever since. How do I stop!?! Its not enjoyably at all anymore, a normal strong man, I'm useless, can't provide, hate myself..feel dependent.. Anyone know.....please help??..desperate
I've got almost 6 years sober, best decision of my life. You can not argue with a transformed life 💪
Awesome stuff
Would love to hear about what's changed since you gave up?... I hear energy increases drastically and your brain turns into what some people call a "super brain"... Is this the case for you?
On day 8 of sobriety. Turning 50 next month. 30 years of drinking beer. Just one turns into 4 or 5 all too frequently. Time to put away those childish things. Thank you for sharing your encouraging words.
How’s your sobriety going brother?
Yeah I think about the childish things part. I'm a beer drinking fool
@@jakemcnally4868 Well done. I'm on day 9. I can totally relate to what you say. Keep going, enjoy life, sober!
After drinking for about 30 years I quit on my 49th Birthday. It was slowly ruining my health. I feel better now than when I was in my teens. My only regret is that I didn't stop years ago. Thanks for sharing. If you're thinking about stopping, GO FOR IT!!
Good job! I just stopped. Im 48

Always thought it was old tomato opposed to ultimatum oh well learn something new everyday lmao
@Gregory Hill true yet still a good decision ive struggled with this for years. has to be personal.

I thought you were going to say it as hard to watch her go.
I've been unintentionally sober for a little over two years. What I've learned is that the further you get from alcohol the less sense it makes.
You know this sounds like me, never had a problem with drinking, never said I was quitting, I just have not drank anything in a very long time.
Yep
Never made sense to me much since being a kid. I mean friends drank and such, but then listening and reading (tons of journals and autobiographies) nothing good seemed to come of it in the long run. Nor ever felt like I've missed out on something as I watched fellow Marines and the like. Good on you and hope all goes well.
That’s why I’m going to teach my future kids to not start. Alcohol ruins families and relationships it’s not worth it
Jail?

There is a reason why they are called spirits.
God bless
L.P.M
He’s ten and is better at writing a letter than I am. You deserve the best Lewis, good luck on your restoration.

I’m a little over 1 yr sober.
You mentioned extremes:
Early last summer I got pretty ripped at a buddy’s house.
I was headed home and got lit up by a GA state trooper.
I was on a Harley Sportster 48 with stage II intake etc.
I ran.
After about 5 miles (he was about a mile behind me) and splitting lanes of traffic and taking the shoulder around transfer trucks, I had something of a moment of clarity:
“ If I don’t stop now I’m gonna end up on the news and not in a good way.”
So I gave up.
No dui’s though somefuckinghow🤷♂️😳

back then, with 2 little kids and a third in the oven---"an evening with the police" as we have come to say....
his life changed forever for the better.
after all said and done--recovery-wise, he was VERY involved with his family like never before.
later, he was a proud father of six busy/happy children....all who grew up quite happy/successful too.
so i know first hand it is possible to turn a new leaf!

Good job bro, i drank hard from 18 to 36 . Some how never got in any trouble with the law, but a few close call's. Spent a lot of time alone. Long story short, got married had a daughter and decided she wasn't going to grow up seeing me waste my life. That’s what’s up dude!!! I’m proud of you brother keep it up!!!
Very much my problem. I cannot drink in moderation. I'm 73 and quit in March 23 2020 on our wedding anniversary and went cold turkey. Only way for me.

Only 2 weeks without drinking alcohol. Had to stop after it consuming my life and involving drugs and living a glamorous lifestyle. Saved so much money, more energy and motivation is through the roof. Glad I watched this video. Wish me luck
Many of us who went to extremes, lost jobs, family say this: “One drink is too many and a thousand is never enough.”
3.5 years, not a drop. Life is better this way, hands down.
Dhuni: Sacred Fire yes brother!!! Congrats on staying dry!
I'm about 2 years
Now that's what I'm talking about!🥳👍
Great work mate!
Good job on quitting the news. I think that is the best one to quite .
when are you going to quit sucking coc ?
@Perry M he's only blown 3 dudes this week, big impovement
Sounds like a fun life......
I read "I killed my father" got me quite confused. Really sorry for your father tho
Good advice. I’m here after a relapse and ready to get sober again
Good luck buddy, hope it's been going well.
Everyone's journey is their own. Good luck!

Hope you continue to do well with your decision.
Thanks for sharing this. I am gratefully clean and sober since 3 March 1986. Life has been very, very good for me.
I'll keep you in my prayers.
I stoped last new year, not a single drink at the new year party, holded on for 2 months, then the coronavirus made stay on quarentena, and i have been drinking like a moron
I echo Austin. My first time listening to this guy and he hit home. Humble and honest.
12 weeks and my family as a whole has never been happier.
Thanks!
I had a drinking friend who quit, he said "I didn't do something dumb every time I drank, but every time I did something dumb I was drinking!"
Brian Wood I’m pretty sure that’s a Dave mustaine quote
@@gabenoseworthy3793 Could be, I'm totally clueless, I don't watch TV and I don't live in the States, and I don't know who anyone is.
Damn, I said those exact words several years ago. Glad to see other people come to the same conclusion. Good for your friend!
damn that rings so true for me... time to make a change...
Pretty common AA phrase.
You also tend to buy a lot less cocaine when you stop drinking

This is a very honest video. It speaks volumes to your character as a man. I really appreciated listening to not just the information but to the straightforward honesty. Very uplifting. Thanks man and wishing you continued success on your journey. Great example of not just talking the talk but walking the walk.
This guy hit the nail on the head. I take everything to the extreme one beer leads to twelve and the bad choices that come along with them. I hope you're doing well.
Fax same peace and blessings to you bro🙏🏾🙏🏾
20 years sober here! I just dinged 61 years old~
Congrats!
Congratulations!
God bless you brother im 35 hoping i will get over it soon too.
60 years of age on yt fair play to ye Hahaha
Congrats
It's been five days since my last drink but the hardest thing I'm finding is sleeping at night but determined to keep going
I'll be celebrating 12 years sober in a few days, it was the best decision I've ever made.
Congrats!
It's good to be sober congratulations
nice, celebrate with a drink
JDMusic edgelord?
Congratulations
No one wakes up in the morning thinking "I should have had a few more drinks last night"...
Well said !
I know I never did.
well if you just drink to get drunk then yea, go wonder
Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Saankramer Life Card System (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good exclusive guide for learning how to stop drinking minus the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my old buddy Taylor after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical success with it.
Unless you wake up and she is really "Coyote Ugly".
Day 7 tomorrow! Feeling really strong & hopeful about my sobriety this time around
Congratulations my friend, it's a huge accomplishment. I too made the decision to completely stop drinking a year ago. I was a daily drinker "alcoholic " from about the age of 18-31. What a diffrence it has made in my life, I feel like a brand new man. God bless you and your family
I quit at age 22 going 2 years sober and I’m happy
Houston lol virgin
Nice keep it up👍
Im just a bit older than you, and I commend you on your decision. The best man at my wedding doesn't drink and I admire him immensely for it - hoping I can make that decision soon as well and be so strong as to keep it up. Don't let anyone put you down or pressure you into doing what you know is wrong for you, and keep crushing!
Hey man I was 22 when I stopped for over 2 years. Started up at again at 24. I’m almost 29 now and I don’t know where the time went. Don’t be like me
Thank you.. gathering mental strength prior to grocery shopping.. one week without buying/drinking wine, one trip to the grocery store and habitually buying a bottle for a Saturday night movie watching could put me back to day one quickly.
I'm struggling with this. Good luck to all of you, and God bless you.
You are strong and doing alright.
@@Vulcan_WT thank you.
It gets better and easier. I promise.
1 month sober feels good and hope i can continue for many years, enjoying your videos.
Quitting drinking is the easiest thing ever! Iv'e done it a thousand times.

Awesome
Jordan Cavinee congratulations, soon it will be a year. I’m going on 36 years.
Hope you find Jesus Christ AMEN
My Dad was a Beer distributor in Texas in small town between Houston and San Antonio. I grew up running route with my Dad. He drank lots of Beer daily promoting his Beer. I saw the dark side of drinking growing up. I do not drink. My mom did not want my brother or I to take over my dad’s business. We did not. As you explained there are lots of costs paid by drinkers. I admire you for video you made and for your conviction. God Bless
Todd
You’re not letting them down by being your best self. Hang tough it’s worth it. Eventually they won’t offer anymore.
@@scotts1409 Well said my friend thank you

I’m 44 years old and never tasted alcohol. Former Marine served oversees. Recently retired as a Police Officer due to PTSD. Currently working on keeping my family together. Thank you for your videos. Much respect brother.
Did you leave the light on for us?
OEF 2009...This video is what I needed.
Never tasted?? How is that even possible. Stop lying. So your showing up alcoholics who struggle every day to get their lives back!....Who does that
I have been sober for 4 years. I find people are surprisingly respectful about it and tend to be interested and even commending.
I'll be 13 months sober on the 12th and it surely saved my life!
That’s great to hear. Keep it up man
Cody, I have to say you are definitely a role model in my life..
10 years here, no booze or drugs. It is definitely one of the better paths taken in life. Glad to hear you've stuck with it. 👍
Makes you a boring person if you never tried
Alcohol had an iron grip on my life from age 13 to 28, after having lost everyone and everything important to me, then i was done with it. I am now almost 64, have had a good life , with great love and respect shown me from family and friends. Good for you , life will only be better now. But always beware the goodtimes, as your gard will be down, and you may say what wrong with a few drinks. I have seen so many pick up right up where they left off with drinking .
Just finished a beer, contemplating quitting for good. All it takes is a spark to start a fire, thanks for this video.
I hope this helps! I made an affirmation video for quitting alcohol, it has helped me and I hope it can do the same for you, good luck!

Takes a big man to admit to a problem. I'm proud of you
"Welcome back friends"
Always such a familiar greeting : )
I fully agree. Something you always count on.
I'm 76 now and swear that every once in a while I still seem to burp the orange gin up now and then.
ed henderson I’m sorry but this is hilarious! It was that bad that you still taste it after so many years
@@DOUBLE0SEVUN I do not recommend orange gin to anyone.
I like how humilty/being humble is a core part of your video, nice work
I'm a young bloke who doesn't drink in Australia (imagine), I've altogether skipped the drinking phase but it can be hard at parties because everyone is in their own zone and I no longer enjoy that sort of thing even though I'm an energetic person.
Even just a sip can send me back to my old ways! The insidious insanity of another drink (occasion or not) deceives many of us.
Wow!!!! One of the BEST VIDEOS ON QUIT DRINKING!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
I haven’t lived a sober life since I was 19. Im going on 30 now and 2020 will be my first attempt at living a sober life since then .
Go for it, bro! You’ve got nothing to lose. Choose life.
Good luck to you.
You got this 👍 You are stronger than you think . Best wishes .
This was a message I needed to hear. Thanks for being vulnerable.
If someone truly does have an alcohol problem and gets sober I DO NOT recommend having even one drink social or whatever
Spot on .
