Thanks for the vid, the only comment I have is regarding the 5200. Great stuff for a PERMANENT repair. If you have to service the actuator ever again it gonna be tough getting it apart. 3M also makes 4200, IMHO that would be a better choice as it is semi-permanent.

5200 isn’t permanent. It is removable.

Hi Chris, after installing a Lot of radios, cb's, etc. in cars, vans, and yes Boats, I can tell you that when you pull a wire out of a tight space and you want to run the new wire back through, a somewhat heavy piece of string and plumbers tape or electrical tape works wonders. Before you pull the old wire(s), tape the string on and pull it through. When you rerun the wires tape them to the string and gently pull while feeding it through. Good Luck my Friend. Nice job. Take care and God Bless ✝

    Tip for others:
Pull some of the old wire outside the transom and make your connections there, but stagger the connectors a bit. Feed the old wire and the now attached new wire back through one connected. Solves the wire fishing issue.

That's exactly how projects go with me too when I've never done them before. Good filming and editing as always!

How did you know that it was the actuator? I have power to the switch, as far as I can see, but the starboard actuator will not respond. I dont want to go through the headache of replacing it if that isnt the issue. Any idea how to test it? Thanks for the video!

I have a bad one too! Is it necessary to replace the wire? Also how hard is it to get those big phillips screws out?

I would check the switch on the dash. I would think the wiring on this switch would be the same as the wiring on the switch that raises and lowers your boat motor, except you should have two switches mounted side by side, one to control each actuator. Probably??? you could just remove the wires going to the actuator that works and plug in the wires from the one that won't work. If it works then you have a defective switch. Don't know how your switch is wired. You may have to replace the entire switch if it is a complete assembly i.e. one switch for the left and one switch for the right.
Hopefully, it will be the switch and the wiring is fine.
Let us know how you make out.
    John

Don’t forget that the orange wire is the switch power that turns the tabs on from the key. If that’s not plugged into some type of power the tabs will stop working.

Good video.. 5200 should not be used. 4200, or even lifecaulk or lifeseal would work well.

Check the switch use a multimeter and see if you are getting power to the plug down in the hatch if not you got a bad switch or bad wires.
