Fairouz voice is the voice of dream.. Let me explain. When you're listening to her angelic voice with the powerful emotionally portraying lyrics. You forget your surrounding and all your senses becomes focused on her song, like in a dream, and when her golden throat stops singing, it's like a slap you wake up from a dream and your senses comes back to life..

For those who could not get the point behind “ for what are people, but lined inscribed on water” basically the line is saying that our existence is like the existence of lines on water, extremely short and disappear with our effort. We are noting but a momentary existence in a place that does not mind our departure.

Hello, the poem “Give me the flute and sing” is for the Lebanese-American philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran. He was born in Lebanon at the end of the 19th century and immigrated to America in the early 20th century and settled there. He has many writings and poems, and I consider him a serious and sad philosopher at the same time.

@@raymollyraymolly722 From the singing style perspective I feel from this time onwards Fairuz real voice got deeper and struggled to sing in higher notes unlike how she used to sing in her youth, it all started when Fairuz sang Konna Netlaka in 1974 that a change in her voice got noticible especially when she sings in higher notes, and you can also notice this from other songs like El Bosta in 1979.
And from a voice quality perspective I've always preferred her angelic younger voice, so it's just a subjective point of view

It reminded me of my childhood in Morocco, camping in a holiday center
in the summer in the majestic mountains of the Middle Atlas, in Ifrane,
we were put the song of Abdel Halim "Rissala TahtaAl Maa-a" or that of Fairuz: "Aetini Ney wa
Ghanni " every morning on the loudspeaker and reached us to our
dormitories, I keep sublime memories, looking at the mountain through my
window, the forests of the Atlas, the songs of birds and this melody
which already spoke to us of the world of love and the sea in the
distance of the Atlas opposite, the nostalgie of Atlantic Ocean where my
family lived in Larache ...... what sublime memories of childhood and
    the good old days ....

I want to add that music for Gibran and the voice of flut- nay ( the sound of nay is very deep , sad and emotional not like regular flut, they use to make it from wooden canes) that s why for him the voice of flut stays even after the existence you can feel it after existence
On the other side the people are lines written with water it means that everyone is passing and will be forgotten, no trace with water not like ink, but I think it s not the case of Gibran Khalil Gibran because he is still living through his writings ...

Hi Jay, this is a poem by Gibran Khalil Gibran. The whole poem is amazing.. the song only includes a very small part. You can easily find it in English (most of his work is either translated or or originally in English).

The part that said “For what are people but lines inscribed on water”. He was saying Humans are poems written by water. It’s my favorite line in the song.

If you want to have a good day , you have to listen to fayrouz first thing in the morning when you wake up, most of Arabs, Egyptians and Lebanese do so especially while taking breakfast and coffee.
I am sure if you get used to this you will find difference in your attitude the whole day.
    Give it a try 🙂.

Feiruz sang some of the most beautiful Arabic poetry of all time. You should listen to Sakan Al Layl (Gibran Khalil), la Tasaalouny Ma Esmuhu Habibi (Nizar Qabbani) and there are a lot more a TH-cam comment won't do it justice

Please react to Aylan by the Lebanese international singer HIBA TAWAJI
And here the translation of the lyrics :
    وين بنام والنعس هربان
Where do I sleep, the drowsiness is running away
My dream is to go back home, but no one is asking for me
I am Aylan and I'm tired
A Syrian refuge child, as though I wasn't a human being
    Tired of my poor family
And forgotten by my people and friends
I am Aylan, and I am tired
I don't have a country anymore, and turned out without an address
Maybe at the ocean, or maybe in the sea
Under some building, or on the side of the river
Maybe on some composite, fleeing away by boat
O' God, I hope to arrive by the beach, and flee away from the way of despair
Suddenly the night fell, coming with waves of woe
It stole me from my fears and drove me by the night sea
    Shy moments, childish laughs
Innocence is killed, the picture of a drowned child
My home is wide enough for the galaxy, and the sun is warming me
My home has the roof as skies and its waves are covering me
Under me the sand corns are my pillow
The decorating lights is the stars of the Gods protecting me
We've been displaced and poisoned by terror
Time bombs as the world refused us
It's our fault, we grew with ignorence
We lived with illiteracy and now we're on everybody's tongues
Lost in boats, in the mids of sea disoriented
We didn't reach the beach, and drowned in the sea
I am not Aylan, I am not Aylan
I am all the children, I am a child on the beach that have drowned
I am an Arabic child, I am a child on the beach that have drowned
    A howl of this century
