  • In Silicon Battery video I try the idea to use a silicon in supercapacitor and battery to see how will perform. In supercapacitor setupe I get 2 times better performance with ading the silicon to the negative electrode that I get from activated carbon / activated carbon supercapacitor.
I will try to do more work on this one!

with silicon/ air anode/battery you MUST always use potassium hydroxide electrolyte or it can't work good. Try KOH next time with silicon!!!!

What would you think of silicon carbide or other semiconductors instead of straight silicon? What's your opinion & have you tested anything? Do you think using some boric acid in your electrolyte would have any effect?
I like the idea of using materials with semiconductive properties for battery manufacturer, for one idea, to act almost like a diode to create more resistance against self-discharge, while having less internal resistance for normal discharge. However if this is possible, it would require one to charge a battery much slower to avoid overheating and charging would be less efficient as you would be working against the diode like effect..

can you do video on battery testing equipment and types you recommend?

How about mixing the silicon powder in a polymer for a flexible electrode, perhaps with graphite powder for conductivity? It might be able to contain the expanding silicon without perforation.

Hey there. Nice work. So got to wondering about semiconductive silicon and wondered about itbeing n dope or p dope. Does it have any predoping bias?

I think I have a good idea for you.
make some battery plates. say 5x10 mm. of a certain battery chemistry, or different battery chemistries. and sell these plates. people who buy the plates can make their own electrolyte.
    so, I don't know. maybe that's a good idea.
