For measuring conductivity of a plate, you might want to make a 1 cm copper cube that gives you consistent contact surface area.

Is this the PAN fiber carbon felt, or rayon based.

Hi! It is a PAN based carbon felt. But rayon felt will be also ok if you can get it. The PAN graphitic carbon felt you can get from ebay.

The conductivity of HDPE is in the range of 200 ohms. I also see that many companies working to go into the range of 60 ohms.

si on utilise un electrolyte corrosif: penses-tu que l'on puisse faire un coating protecteur sur l'aluminium? genre encre conductrice à l’époxy ou au PU pour le protéger? ou un Electroplating peut-être? mon idée est pour rester en low-cost... c'est très cher le hdpe conducteur....

Why not using graphoil only? Graphoil seems to be inert already.

Because if the graphoil is in direct contact with electrolyte and if you use thecl charging voltage more that 1.8V then after some cycles the graphoil will expand and you will lose the conntact or it will higher the resistance. Also the graphoil alone is more fragile in the conntact area (the area where you connect a crocodile cable).

Imagine if the conductive plate had a few small holes, through which the HDPE could weld to the HDPE on the other side.

That is how need to be done. But most of the time I skip that extra step (making holes to the metal plate/foil and welding two pieces of HDPE together) and I only put a HDPE on the top of metal foil and that's that,... and also works great. Fast, simple, effective.
