  • Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), as a kind of polymeric semiconductor that has unique electronic structure and excellent chemical stability, has attracted increasing attention of researchers.
    MAKE IT!
    you need:
    10 g of Urea
    1 g of Sugar
    1 g of Carbon Black or SW CNT (carbon nanotubes). Alternative is activated carbon, graphite or graphene.
    20 ml water
    Heat the mix on 550 degC for 3 - 5 or even 12 hours!
    Methode 2:
    Mix a 10g urea, 1g sugar and 1g CNT and in a muffle furnace heated to 550 °C for 3 h. Then continued heating at higher temperatures (700, 800 and 900 °C) to obtain different levels of g-CN products.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Researchers have make a supercapacitor from this material (graphitic carbon nitride/sugar/CNT) and recorded the capacity of 259.4 F/g
    Also here you can see my supercapacitor from this material: • SuperCapacitor - Graph...

    Fantastic vid!, and what a most lovely pile of yellowy graphitic carbon nitride you have there at the start ;). Excellent and super simple charcoal bricket and sealed tin method too, plus V nice tip about the 1g carbon black addition which i will try in my next batch, Cheers Dusan! :) (y)

      Ecoponico R&D yea,.... this material is cool. you can heat this with propane gas. the blue flame of propane gas can get over 1000 deg C.

    Wait a minute now. You said there was only three compounds used here. By using charcoal aren't you adding POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE to the mixture? If this is true. Wouldn't this change the entire experiment with this extra chemical add? Lets don't forget the other additive that you mentioned at the end of this video. I thank you for your upload. Would you explain how these other additives change your experiment?

    Does this material is good to increase the density of the all carbon battery if I added to the cabin material

    Sorry it's NH3 and... For the covered crucible, the solid can be produced over a tempera-
    ture range from 400 C to 550 C. No solid was observed if the
    reaction temperature was 600 C, which indicated this temperature
    was too high

    How do you verify that it worked? Are there any simple tests I can do to make sure the stuff produced is really graphitic carbon nitride?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have tons of paper online for making graphitic carbon nitride from urea

    • @dekutree64
      @dekutree64 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but your video already covered that part. Do you really just assume it worked and continue on? What if the completed battery doesn't work? How do you go about narrowing down where the problem occurred?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dekutree64 this process for making graphitic carbon nitride from urea is really common and you will find alot of research papers. For testing the carbon nitride you need some equipment. I also test the graphitic carbon nitride in a battery

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh boy,... I understand you wrong.... You can make two batteries one is with no graphitic carbon nitride and one with graphitic carbon nitride and charge both cells with same voltage and time. Than you test both cells,... cell with graphitic carbon nitrade works better. Make some easy zinc based battery, because this works at best.

      Thanks! That gives me some idea how to go about devising indirect tests.

    a wood stove exhaust pipe full of graphitic carbon nitride should catalize co2 and hydrogens to ethanol,right?

    Diff between black and yellow graphitic carbon nitride.How much graphene or CNT can add in graphitic carbon nitride.Also graphene can add with water,urea and suger during making g-C3N4.

    Hi, thank you for sharing.
    Will this metal container take the pressure build-up.
    Should it be sealed well?
    Is there any risk of explosion?

    • @cayrex

      Mohamed Moussalli you need to make a small hole on the top.

    am electrolyzing copper pipes for Cu(OH)2 and noticed first day(5-7 hours)at 10 amps.12volts Theory am proposing is to soak charcoal in Cu(OH)2,dry C+Cu(OH)2 mixture and complete reaction, your show the charcoal ,sugar,water and urea.The purpose is to make ethanol from wood smokefumes.Think work?Ethanol from wood stove smoke

    Hi. I was reading up on burnt fumes from Urea and on a fire fumes safety they state things
    that contain nitrogen can produce Hydrogen Cyanide.
    Here is where it say's it web.mit.edu/parmstr/Public/NRCan/CanBldgDigests/cbd144_e.html
    Other pages say its as slightly dangerous.

      I miss read the doc. I just read again and there is a - after Urea, As in urea-formaldehyde . better safe then sorry thatnks.

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are correct. to be honest,... "almost" all chemical reactions can be toxic if you heat or burn (dont breathe). heating the urea with gas flame is the alternative option for me because I don't have lab furnace. but the right way is using of lab furnace.
