Great review, i played myself and i have to agree, they still have way to go to make this game worth playing or feel *completed*. The only little criticism i have about the vid is that flying does not use up the limited stamina in itself, it only uses it if you fly fast (like running). So you can fly for an unlimited time, if you dont *run* while flying.

THANK YOU for taking the time to thoroughly go thru that testing phase for the game and then giving us this review! On the whole the game has incredible potential to be as good as it's predecessor, maybe even better IF they put a huge amount of work and effort into cleaning up what they have so far, some redo on VA work, complete re-mixing of audio and music production, and OPTIMIZATION of the ENTIRE game's playable areas! There's nothing worse than having to deal with one zone being done right... and then step into a different part of the map and the performance goes off a cliff! Once these have been achieved, they'd do right by the community by making the game a small sub type and STAY AWAY from micro-transaction HELL and Pay-To-Win Store Purchases. However, I doubt that last part will come to fruition since gaming development has been taken over by greedy corporate management types and shareholders in the past 15 years. It is what it is, and we'll try to be optimistic as each release comes along, however, this game NEEDS much WORK before it sees the light of day for public consumption. - Nylfaen of ShadowForged Gamerz.

great review i was lurking in mr stix stream and man the cutscene lag hopefully they can fix optimization well i played perfect world international up until they added silver coin currency with almost no way to grind out gold coins anymore that was last straw for me so hopefully this game turns out well.
Perfect Word just nails the atmosphere for me, that's why I'm really looking forward to Perfect New World succeeding. But let's be frank combat is the most important thing in a grind focused game. I like grinding - it gives you that going out hunting feeling - especially if it is profitable to grind together, but clunky and buggy or overcomplicated combat can really turn you off from a title.

The mine cart works btw, only during his big charge and only if u get the tentacles down guarding his face first.. thats why yours didnt work.. u need people to hit them down first.
Ooh, someone earlier said I needed to get in the minecart and then launch myself but the minecart wouldn't let us in. Very interesting though, this seems more like the typical boss with mechanics explanation of what to do. Hopefully I get the chance to try it out next time! It was a bunch of noobs going around doing noob learning things that run xD

Seems like something fun to play. I had never heard of it until now. I played WOW off and on for 10 years and haven't played it in years. My brain almost checked out of me actually playing it when I heard the word grind. I might have to check it out though.
It's nice to see flashy combat, but if doesn't connect or you cannot adjust on the fly is sad. Definitely a major gripe for me. Character customization in an eastern MMO is always "difficult" 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️ Thank you for the review, good job!

Honestly super glad you can't make your character look like a complete abomination as it's a huge immersion breaker for me and I hated it when old MMOs did allow that stuff.
ok heres my take upon seeing this review 1. this has a mobile ui and mobile game feel to it 2. skill needs "materials" im guessing it will be so expensive in the end game that you will need to pay 3. same with stat pets. i bet they are gonna add some of them in the cash shop
Mrs Styx, As an "Avid Swords of Legend" fan, any currently active Asian/Anime MMOs you would recommend. I have been grinding the *** out of Gw2, but it just mostly reminds me of Why I miss Tera, (no PS4) and or SoL, honestly never got that far in it but I love Action combat and Asian Settings. And Honestly an Asthmatic SkyScale is no replacement for my Beautifal Pegasus.

They gave both the untamed and human race graphical updates in the original PC version but, winged elf and tide born still have the low poly early 2000’s graphics. If you’re gonna update the games graphics to match the mobile version, why not do it to the entire game? Or is the games budget that bad? What I don’t like with the mobile version is the lack of open world. My favorite thing about playing the OG Perfect World was for the flying mechanics. That’s why I loved the Winged Elf race. The fact that the race came with their own winged mounts.
I miss the old perfect world in PC but the community start dyin then start to create mobile game perfect world but the experience big difference i hope they return the old days
Graphicly looks pretty nice, but man the overall feeling i got is of a cheap mobile mmo ported into pc that might lose a great part of its player base in the first couple of months. I want good mmos, i hope this one turns out well, however i am not feeling confident right now
So is the world in anyway the same world as the original Perfect World? I have already written off the music not being as good as the original so all this has going for it is nostalgia for me.
My hope is that there is at least something from the original Perfect World being carried here for nostalgia reason. For now, it seems like a brand new game with nothing related to old PW.
A very cheerful review... Made me feel better about gaming as a whole. The game however... Now I have played and ~erm still once in a while "am playing" Perfect World International. My best however is like 92 Demon Seeker and I have 56 Elf Cleric. I don`t think I have dungeoned in that game even once... First my PC sucked and it was generally unpleasant... Also I were like Area Wild Mob Grinding my XP for quite a while... all and all I were fairly bad player of that game... it was just recently >yes recently in this 2007 (PWI server) game< Caught up to the questing... that is now much more streamlined and leveled myself to 92 of it... I have always... always wanted to reach Demon cultivation in that game... and I did. (I do however trade the currency to actually level it`s skill and unlike before, it`s main currency is no longer free transferable between players... which is downright stupid for such an old game... before I could easily beg my way trough this chump change, now it`s simply ~I forgot the word for it... but "something" resource that is not replenish able. (For a bit more detail it went from Silver to Gold... Gold is practically 1:1 Silver that cannot be traded between players.). Also my cleric is stuck on a quest boss... but I am gonna go ahead and assume with PW 2 on the horizon ~PWI is even deader than it were... in fact I am amazed how many players were in it when I recently revisited it for described activities. PW 2 thou... looks... clunky... And it`s post "beta"... I mean just look at Alpha 1 Ashes of Creation :P (I am not even comparing them, I am just saying if Ashes of Creation can be that developed in Alpha, PW to be declared as in Beta in what I have seen in this video ~...) Also this new Tenced MMO that looks like refreshed WoW (because it sort of is) Teracesomething. It looks actually quite nice... also Throne and Liberty... I mean even if you are "hardcore" PWI fan but the game is kind of about to reach it`s "natural end" (who knows might outlive us all... or at least some of us) (But I have seen the "death" of at least 1 MMO I were involved in ~ Tera... so it happens)... What will make you chose PNW over T&H... in what world that happens? I just don`t see it. Even if you consider AOC kind of a meme (even if it most likely will turn out it isn`t when it hits) and this Teracesomething thing as a non player base temporal come and go thing. Also I kind of liked PWI specifically for it`s tab combat... now they are trying to do like Tera online but BDO imitation... (from what you've described and I saw) ~ o_0... That is like neither good old tab target... not actually Tera and it`s pump Space for Combo Chain Rotation, nor will it ever be BDO... so what do we establish it is... Nothing... It would seem as if it is... Nothing at this point.
I thought some of the ability and item icons looked familiar, and then Mrs. Stixx said "made in Unity", and then it clicked - some of the items and ability icons were present in Astellia Online. Even some of the mounts looked suspiciously similar to ones in AO. It definitely looks like it needs some work. But, that's what these testing phases are for. If the game came out and these were still present, then it would be unacceptable. Let's have our fingers and toes crossed that these issues will be resolved by the next test or by release.
i really wish i could tell you my opinion of the game, but the day i went 2 launch it i found 2 trojans and 1 malware just attached to the exe file that was not present the day before when i launched to create my character so i uninstalled and will wait in hopes that it will be "bug" free in the next Test or Beta :D

I guess this one isnt for me then, hoped it would be more like PWI with classes like Tanks, dps and healers. The world seems somewhat interesting, but yeah... I'm more into classic mmorpgs where u have the classic roles. I like healing and I love the idea of working together with party not just everyone dps and fight over who deals the most damage.
Lmao. Love the part where you say dragonspear is at the top of the leaderboard. Was rank 6 in solo arena in the clip and can confirm that they need a balance.. however, they don't shine as brightly in 2v2. Would say Galeblade is a lot better in 2s than 1s. Just my two cents 🎉. Combat was fun, but the game definitely needs polish for a substantial completion.
You probably stabbed me a few times then in solo queue Q.Q, it was deserved. I should have tried 2s but I couldn't figure out how to borderline asking someone to join me since I couldn't find where I could just queue for a 2nd.

Good to see boss fights where they are not telegraphing their moves. Hate seeing red warning areas on the ground where the boss is gonna land after it jumps or a red arrow to show the directions it's going to charge. Kinda lazy on the players part that they even had to add things like that to games to begin with.
I played Perfect world before and it was great for during its time and also Black Dessert. Black Dessert to me is one of the best out there until now even competing with new titles. Seeing this is a new game with almost 10 years age gap with Black Dessert, how does it compare to Black Desert overall and what are the similarities to Perfect World ? I saw the combat and it looks to me like Black Dessert but what about the other features of the game.
As I mentioned in the video, unknown when even the release date will be. I don't believe they announced a 2023 release window, even their page on Steam says coming soon. Hopefully they take their time with it though!
It looks okay, but I do wish there was more customizable characters that weren't gender locked and it feels like it's missing something.. but I will still look forward to trying it
Nah Perfect World was one of the MMO's to get it right, and then they decide to make a new one with all of the core feature missing from it. Farming Matts for numerous types of crafting, Guild Wars, Terroritory Wars, Open World PVP, Instances, Long Dungeions, Hard Bosses, Unqiue Armor that actually applies to your character, In Depth Character Custimization, Flying up into the clouds, In Depth PVP and PVE mechanics and combos, Easter Eggs and Rare Spawns, Classes Originless, Quests following a greater story All missing
You will be farming mats in this for sure, and I'm unsure about guild wars but there are guild activities to do but I sadly didn't get to join any, the dungeons are long and big bosses did have some interesting mechanics, there's no armor, CC is ok for the times and better than most games coming out currently, you and fly up and down, PvP and PvE mechanics were there and combos, unsure about Easter eggs ad this point or rare spawns...don't think they had that in this iteration but it'd be cool to see, I'm unsure what classes originless means for PW, and quests do follow a story. I hope that helped answer some thoughts I'm just not sure what you mean by originless classes to answer that one.
When I first heard of perfect new wi was so excited. I used to play perfect world international all the time but tye only thing I'm seeing about the new one that I like is the graphics. I especially don't like the absence of armor for gear.
dude i miss PW so much 😭 this new one looks very pretty, but NO WEREFOX CLASS?? shame. i never even knew how to play as i kid, i just walked around and dressed up and collected battle pets and had fun. so the lack of customization options so far blows... there seems to be quite a few outfit possibilities though. i'm excited to check it out someday,,,
They make these games more about work and money than they do fun. Honestly, some of the restrictions for example, like the cooldowns on certain abilities and the cost for resources to progress never did make sense to me. I want to just have fun and not have to think as hard or work as hard. I already do that in reality. I game to escape reality. Not saying it needs to be a cake walk but if I'm going to grind, at least make the grind worth it once you finish a quest or milestone. Like a guarantee that if I grind today, I WILL get that legendary item I need or want without that R&G loot system.
I would say this has a chance if there were no other MMOs releasing, but is it as good as Throne and Liberty or Chrono Odyssey? This game is not ready.
MMOs that are free to play never last long. Power creep just keeps going up with higher and higher real money costs, making sure to squeeze the most juice out of every player by reaching their limits one at a time. Sadly, the model still makes money because there's always some people willing to spend insane amounts. But instead of taking years, they shorten the timespan more now. Everyone should realize that MMOs will never be the same....
I think I will pass on this one. I spent more time in cutscenes than actual combat. A cutscene every 10 seconds and even sometimes in combat is completely unnecessary and ruined the flow for me, liked everything else though. Unfortunate cus I played tons of the original PW.
PWI was one if not the best mmorpg, i been playng since beta. but greed killed the game..cant get coins from DQ items anymore. lot of friends quited after packs came. I remember took a month to gain 1 level at sea of isolation griding... Putting up a zhen party were ppl just afk and fell asleep hahaha.. 1 catshop near it, selling xp scrolls. i miss those days.. got a lot rrr9 classes. I tanked world bosses as cleric to help ppl. than i made a barb. did 1000's runs delta to help ppl get fairy 3... But sadly was hard to farm coins.. so i left.. stil have the acount.. but it became expensive..Ty for this review.. many hugs.
Perfect World was peak MMO imo. It just suffered initially from lack of a massive playerbase like other MMOs had that could bring money to devs. Also a lot of eastern games suffer from monetization which is deemed appropriate in Korea or Japan (China is outlawing a lot of it) but not in the West. Originally, this game was the closest thing I think MMOs ever had to being an Eastern-style MMO with Western mechanics.

Perfect World International was one of my first mmos as a kid, so I'm hyped for this.
Pots for flying? Sounds like Aion at Release where i need to craft hundreds pots every day to fly in the abyss.

They gave both the untamed and human race graphical updates in the original PC version but, winged elf and tide born still have the low poly early 2000’s graphics. If you’re gonna update the games graphics to match the mobile version, why not do it to the entire game? Or is the games budget that bad?
What I don’t like with the mobile version is the lack of open world. My favorite thing about playing the OG Perfect World was for the flying mechanics. That’s why I loved the Winged Elf race. The fact that the race came with their own winged mounts.
I miss the old perfect world in PC but the community start dyin then start to create mobile game perfect world but the experience big difference i hope they return the old days
This motivated me to hop back into good old Perfect World International 🤪

Graphicly looks pretty nice, but man the overall feeling i got is of a cheap mobile mmo ported into pc that might lose a great part of its player base in the first couple of months. I want good mmos, i hope this one turns out well, however i am not feeling confident right now
So is the world in anyway the same world as the original Perfect World? I have already written off the music not being as good as the original so all this has going for it is nostalgia for me.
I wouldn't say so, there's just small little throwbacks to PW, but it's different I'd say for 90% of what I played.

My hope is that there is at least something from the original Perfect World being carried here for nostalgia reason. For now, it seems like a brand new game with nothing related to old PW.
A very cheerful review... Made me feel better about gaming as a whole. The game however... Now I have played and ~erm still once in a while "am playing" Perfect World International. My best however is like 92 Demon Seeker and I have 56 Elf Cleric. I don`t think I have dungeoned in that game even once... First my PC sucked and it was generally unpleasant... Also I were like Area Wild Mob Grinding my XP for quite a while... all and all I were fairly bad player of that game... it was just recently >yes recently in this 2007 (PWI server) game< Caught up to the questing... that is now much more streamlined and leveled myself to 92 of it... I have always... always wanted to reach Demon cultivation in that game... and I did. (I do however trade the currency to actually level it`s skill and unlike before, it`s main currency is no longer free transferable between players... which is downright stupid for such an old game... before I could easily beg my way trough this chump change, now it`s simply ~I forgot the word for it... but "something" resource that is not replenish able. (For a bit more detail it went from Silver to Gold... Gold is practically 1:1 Silver that cannot be traded between players.). Also my cleric is stuck on a quest boss... but I am gonna go ahead and assume with PW 2 on the horizon ~PWI is even deader than it were... in fact I am amazed how many players were in it when I recently revisited it for described activities.
PW 2 thou... looks... clunky... And it`s post "beta"... I mean just look at Alpha 1 Ashes of Creation :P (I am not even comparing them, I am just saying if Ashes of Creation can be that developed in Alpha, PW to be declared as in Beta in what I have seen in this video ~...) Also this new Tenced MMO that looks like refreshed WoW (because it sort of is) Teracesomething. It looks actually quite nice... also Throne and Liberty... I mean even if you are "hardcore" PWI fan but the game is kind of about to reach it`s "natural end" (who knows might outlive us all... or at least some of us) (But I have seen the "death" of at least 1 MMO I were involved in ~ Tera... so it happens)... What will make you chose PNW over T&H... in what world that happens? I just don`t see it. Even if you consider AOC kind of a meme (even if it most likely will turn out it isn`t when it hits) and this Teracesomething thing as a non player base temporal come and go thing.
Also I kind of liked PWI specifically for it`s tab combat... now they are trying to do like Tera online but BDO imitation... (from what you've described and I saw) ~ o_0... That is like neither good old tab target... not actually Tera and it`s pump Space for Combo Chain Rotation, nor will it ever be BDO... so what do we establish it is... Nothing... It would seem as if it is... Nothing at this point.

I thought some of the ability and item icons looked familiar, and then Mrs. Stixx said "made in Unity", and then it clicked - some of the items and ability icons were present in Astellia Online. Even some of the mounts looked suspiciously similar to ones in AO.
It definitely looks like it needs some work. But, that's what these testing phases are for. If the game came out and these were still present, then it would be unacceptable. Let's have our fingers and toes crossed that these issues will be resolved by the next test or by release.
i really wish i could tell you my opinion of the game, but the day i went 2 launch it i found 2 trojans and 1 malware just attached to the exe file that was not present the day before when i launched to create my character so i uninstalled and will wait in hopes that it will be "bug" free in the next Test or Beta :D

I guess this one isnt for me then, hoped it would be more like PWI with classes like Tanks, dps and healers. The world seems somewhat interesting, but yeah... I'm more into classic mmorpgs where u have the classic roles. I like healing and I love the idea of working together with party not just everyone dps and fight over who deals the most damage.
Looking at this game reminds me a lot of Tera. Hoping it can give that same feeling as back in the early days of the game

Lmao. Love the part where you say dragonspear is at the top of the leaderboard. Was rank 6 in solo arena in the clip and can confirm that they need a balance.. however, they don't shine as brightly in 2v2. Would say Galeblade is a lot better in 2s than 1s. Just my two cents 🎉. Combat was fun, but the game definitely needs polish for a substantial completion.
You probably stabbed me a few times then in solo queue Q.Q, it was deserved. I should have tried 2s but I couldn't figure out how to borderline asking someone to join me since I couldn't find where I could just queue for a 2nd.

Good to see boss fights where they are not telegraphing their moves. Hate seeing red warning areas on the ground where the boss is gonna land after it jumps or a red arrow to show the directions it's going to charge. Kinda lazy on the players part that they even had to add things like that to games to begin with.
Yeah, you actually need to watch these bosses for what's happening next. They'll either flash a color or have an obvious charge up happening.

I played Perfect world before and it was great for during its time and also Black Dessert. Black Dessert to me is one of the best out there until now even competing with new titles. Seeing this is a new game with almost 10 years age gap with Black Dessert, how does it compare to Black Desert overall and what are the similarities to Perfect World ? I saw the combat and it looks to me like Black Dessert but what about the other features of the game.

As I mentioned in the video, unknown when even the release date will be. I don't believe they announced a 2023 release window, even their page on Steam says coming soon. Hopefully they take their time with it though!

Nah Perfect World was one of the MMO's to get it right, and then they decide to make a new one with all of the core feature missing from it.
Farming Matts for numerous types of crafting, Guild Wars, Terroritory Wars, Open World PVP, Instances, Long Dungeions, Hard Bosses, Unqiue Armor that actually applies to your character, In Depth Character Custimization, Flying up into the clouds, In Depth PVP and PVE mechanics and combos, Easter Eggs and Rare Spawns, Classes Originless, Quests following a greater story

You will be farming mats in this for sure, and I'm unsure about guild wars but there are guild activities to do but I sadly didn't get to join any, the dungeons are long and big bosses did have some interesting mechanics, there's no armor, CC is ok for the times and better than most games coming out currently, you and fly up and down, PvP and PvE mechanics were there and combos, unsure about Easter eggs ad this point or rare spawns...don't think they had that in this iteration but it'd be cool to see, I'm unsure what classes originless means for PW, and quests do follow a story. I hope that helped answer some thoughts I'm just not sure what you mean by originless classes to answer that one.

When I first heard of perfect new wi was so excited. I used to play perfect world international all the time but tye only thing I'm seeing about the new one that I like is the graphics. I especially don't like the absence of armor for gear.
dude i miss PW so much 😭 this new one looks very pretty, but NO WEREFOX CLASS?? shame. i never even knew how to play as i kid, i just walked around and dressed up and collected battle pets and had fun. so the lack of customization options so far blows... there seems to be quite a few outfit possibilities though. i'm excited to check it out someday,,,
They make these games more about work and money than they do fun. Honestly, some of the restrictions for example, like the cooldowns on certain abilities and the cost for resources to progress never did make sense to me. I want to just have fun and not have to think as hard or work as hard. I already do that in reality. I game to escape reality. Not saying it needs to be a cake walk but if I'm going to grind, at least make the grind worth it once you finish a quest or milestone. Like a guarantee that if I grind today, I WILL get that legendary item I need or want without that R&G loot system.

I would say this has a chance if there were no other MMOs releasing, but is it as good as Throne and Liberty or Chrono Odyssey? This game is not ready.

MMOs that are free to play never last long. Power creep just keeps going up with higher and higher real money costs, making sure to squeeze the most juice out of every player by reaching their limits one at a time. Sadly, the model still makes money because there's always some people willing to spend insane amounts. But instead of taking years, they shorten the timespan more now. Everyone should realize that MMOs will never be the same....

I think I will pass on this one. I spent more time in cutscenes than actual combat. A cutscene every 10 seconds and even sometimes in combat is completely unnecessary and ruined the flow for me, liked everything else though. Unfortunate cus I played tons of the original PW.
I never actually really noticed the cutscenes being majority, but you are fairly spot on when I think about it.

No change from armor is bull, best thing about any rpg is seeing your look progress with effort.
It is very similar to Dragon Nest gameplay. You are basically playing the Acrobat class :D
PWI was one if not the best mmorpg, i been playng since beta. but greed killed the game..cant get coins from DQ items anymore. lot of friends quited after packs came. I remember took a month to gain 1 level at sea of isolation griding... Putting up a zhen party were ppl just afk and fell asleep hahaha.. 1 catshop near it, selling xp scrolls. i miss those days.. got a lot rrr9 classes. I tanked world bosses as cleric to help ppl. than i made a barb. did 1000's runs delta to help ppl get fairy 3... But sadly was hard to farm coins.. so i left.. stil have the acount.. but it became expensive..Ty for this review.. many hugs.

Perfect World was peak MMO imo. It just suffered initially from lack of a massive playerbase like other MMOs had that could bring money to devs. Also a lot of eastern games suffer from monetization which is deemed appropriate in Korea or Japan (China is outlawing a lot of it) but not in the West. Originally, this game was the closest thing I think MMOs ever had to being an Eastern-style MMO with Western mechanics.
I don't understand why they don't create the same old thing? because who has played it in 2008, would love playing something what reminder us old game. just remaster this.
