      im not of color so i cant relate to what you feel, but I alwasy felt like people are disconnect from eachother and the earth they live on.
      This song is so powerful to me because of how much it screams for the greatest parts of humanity to show itself.

      I KNOW. This song is HARD. I took singing lessons for years and I had a pretty good voice (I say had because I'm out of practice, and had some health issues that seem to have affected my singing), but I usually had a sore throat and would be out of breath after singing this one.

    Disney Pocahontas was made for her voice.... Her live sounds identical to the studio version and it gives me goosebumps..

    I like how Judy's singing voice matched almost perfectly with Irene's speaking voice. The nuances of their voices really characterized Pocahontas.

    I think a reason this song is one of the greatest in Disney movies is because it's a song I think everyone can relate to.. And if you noticed close to the end it looked like she was getting emotional.. Songs are performed and sing better when there is an emotional connection.

    I remember seeing this in 1995 before the movie came out. It was always so exciting to anticipate the next big Disney film. Anyway, I didn't appreciate what an incredible performance this was then. She really has a powerful, unique voice! It's stunning.

      I prefer Judy's version because I tend to gravitate more toward classically trained vocalists, but Vanessa's version is beautiful too. It's comparing apple and oranges...they're both very talented but very different in style and approach.

    My ears refuse to accept any other versions of this legendary song sung by the Disney Legend Judy Kuhn. This is the only version I ever heard besides another Disney Legend Lea Salonga’s rendition.

    Only discovered Judy Kuhn a few months ago having seen the best live performance of the musical 'Chess' i've ever seen, from 1989. Why this girl didn't become a mega-star i'll never know - there is no justice in this world...

    This song taught me so much about appreciating and respecting our planet as a child and now, at 33, I cry when I hear it because we've ruined the land for all the animals she honors in the song. We treat this land like it's ours to pillage and manipulate it for our comfort
