This will blow your mind... This original version you played was released over 50 years ago. 50+ YEARS AGO !!! Edgar was only 24 years old when he recorded it... he's now 77... and still kickin' the ever-lovin' crud out of every song he performs live... piano, sax, organ, synths, and hands-down one of the greatest voices of all-time. God bless this man...
Great review. Thanks guys. Edgar wrote this song. You should check out "You Were My Light" (some of the best screams in the history of rock, lol) and "I've Got News for You". I still have this album and play it often.
I bought this album when it came out in 1971, I was in high school then and I haven’t thought about this song in a long time. I’ve been a fan of both Edgar and Johnny for many years. Johnny is gone now, but Edgar is still out there rockin’. Just saw him not too long ago in the latest lineup of Ringo Starr’s “All Starr Band” and he and the rest of the guys were fantastic!
This is a deep song, delivered sincerely. The whole “White Trash” LP is fantastic. God bless Edgar and Johnny. I did not know it was used for a Tupac film. Thanks guys 👍
For some reason, there are some songs that you listen to many times over the years until one day you actually hear them and they hit you like a ton of bricks!
Very profound. Edgar wrote this. Very talented songwriter and musician. I was fortunate to have seen both him and Jonny, but not fortunate enough to have seen them together. Thanks for this. Appreciate the excellent reaction fellas 👌 ❤
I would like to suggest I've got news it features Jerry LaCroix as lead singer Jerry's also a brass player they have the best lungs I think also give it everything you got and save the planet both of those last two are duets with Edgar and Jerry
Johnny and Edgar are from Beaumont Texas. The north side, the poor black side. They learn a lot of their licks in church Maybe that would explain the amount of soul
Yeah this is the original, Edgar wrote this. The whole album is amazing (Edgar Winter"s White Trash). Some of the best rock n roll, soul, gospel songs. I also recommend their live album (Roadwork), funky as hell.
This song has been a long time favorite of mine. ❤ When Edgar sings so heart-felt, it touches me. Great lyrics. Thanks for this one, guys. Beautifully sang & said.
There's a great live version of Edgar playing this at Mohegan Sun when he was touring with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band that's absolutely worth checking out. Great to see this getting your reactions.
Another great reaction gentleman by you guys. Edgar is a legendary musician singer songwriter. Edgar has so much heart and soul with this song. Love what you are doing❤. Quick question did the links I sent you work for the album review? I am in no way rushing you. I hope you don’t feel that it’s not my intention. The concert video is awesome, but it does cut off around 45-60 mins of the actual concert. By all means if what I sent you doesn’t work. Then of course continue with the video. I am just so excited that you are reacting to it. Thank you gentlemen i really appreciate what you do for this music family that follows you.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww YEAH! This has to be one of the best songs ever written. You're right. It should be HUGE!!!!! EDGAR.... What a talent. Him and Johnny. Texas boys. Cat Stevens has covered it a few years back under his new name name but.... Yeah song is flawless in every sense
Back in the day, all of the bands I was into were either influenced by soul and blues or outright played it. I saw both Edgar and Johnny in concert, never together, my only regret. These guys were amazing talents, but because they were not mainstream rock or pop, and focused almost exclusively on the blues, they rarely reached the mainstream, but all the serious musicians knew of them. Great stuff. Keep going with the brothers. You can't go wrong. BTW, I looked it up. Tupac took the chorus from Dying to Live, which was written by Edgar.
I knew Tupac fans would enjoy hearing the original. Edgar has so many sides to him. He once said he does not believe in musical segregation. The song that preceded this on the album is a gospel number he co-wrote: Save the Planet. The album opens with Give It Everything You Got, which is more funk. And the other song I'll recommend is Easy Street from the Shock Treatment album. His vocals and sax are amazing on that one; bluesy jazz or jazzy blues, you decide. Anyway, great reaction. I've yet to see any reactors that weren't moved and blown away by Dying to Live. Thanks for reacting to it.
The Edgar Winter's White Trash album is incredible. Every single song is as good as this one. Definitely worth a deep dive. The White Trash band is Texas blues/rock/funk with lots of brass. I was lucky enough to see them live when they were supporting this album and it was one of the best live shows ever. Check out: Give It Everything You've Got, Keep Playing That Rock and Roll, Let's Get It On, I've Got News For You. Again, actually every single song is amazing!!!
Thank you for turning me on to a song that I have not heard though I know Edgar Winter. Perhaps because I was more a fan of his brother Johnny. Incidentally there is another song that Johnny did earlier that was written by Steve Winwood/ Traffic called " No Time To Live ". It was performed by Traffic too but my favorite version is by Brain Auger and Trinity from the Befour LP. You should check out Brian Auger.
Brilliant, chatted to Edgar at BB Kings in LA many years ago, my brother in law and his band was supporting Doves of Fire which was Steve Lukather, Jeff Babko, Simon Phillips and Melvin Davis playing Mahavishnu Orchestra live back I think in 2002. Really nice guy who was stoked by the guitar tone of my bro. What a night of music.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song or if I did, I don’t remember it. Kinda grabbed me by the throat I bit. Wow. That was a nice discovery from Edgar. ❤️🔥
I thought I'd drop off another suggestion for another Edgar Winter tune, if interested. "Edgar Winter - We All Had A Real Good Time" (by the channel: Edgar Winter) --this song was written by Edgar Winter and Dan Hartman (who by the way, was a founding member of the band and co-wrote many of the band's songs) The song was released in 1972 as part of their album called "They Only Come Out At Night". The album was their biggest selling release, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 200 and was certified gold early in 1973. It has since achieved 2x Platinum status as of 1986. peace out~
Saw Johnny and Edgar together when they and the Outlaws opened for Lynyrd Skynryd in 1976 at Legion Field in Birmingham Alabama. The city turned the power off during Freebird and there was a riot.
@@elwood4939 one of mine too. I was able to see them all together live touring for that album at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. That was a memorable night. I know many people request Mannish Boy but for me the others tracks on that album are better.
Remember when you guys did Aja and then Kid Charlemagne as said you wished you had listen to Aja in order….Edgar Winter’s White Trash is that type of album…every song is fantastic and builds…you gotta react to the whole album
This will blow your mind...

Great song and one of the best songs ever written, slaps you in the face, beautiful lyrics
WOW!
Thanks guys never heard this one. Beautiful song.
I heard this song when i was a little girl. Everytime i listen to it, it brings tears to my eyes 😢❤
I bought this album when it came out in 1971, I was in high school then and I haven’t thought about this song in a long time.

Just saw him not too long ago in the latest lineup of Ringo Starr’s “All Starr Band” and he and the rest of the guys were fantastic!
This joint hits the feels pretty hard. ✝ RIP my old friend.
Heartbreaking but profound lyrics. Beautiful delivery.
This is a deep song, delivered sincerely. The whole “White Trash” LP is fantastic. God bless Edgar and Johnny. I did not know it was used for a Tupac film. Thanks guys 👍
This album really shows how Edgar can play so many styles of music. Every song is fabulous!
For some reason, there are some songs that you listen to many times over the years until one day you actually hear them and they hit you like a ton of bricks!
Edgar wrote this tune. Under appreciated talent. Great job guys.
Same album. First song is Give It Everything You’ve Got. It’s about as funky as it gets!
Beautiful song!
Thanks for this review! I had this album when it was it released and got to see him in concert in the early 70's.
Very profound. Edgar wrote this. Very talented songwriter and musician. I was fortunate to have seen both him and Jonny, but not fortunate enough to have seen them together. Thanks for this. Appreciate the excellent reaction fellas 👌 ❤
This hits my heart like a hypersonic missle. I've never heard this ever.
I feel you on that one.
How sweet was that
I would like to suggest I've got news it features Jerry LaCroix as lead singer Jerry's also a brass player they have the best lungs I think also give it everything you got and save the planet both of those last two are duets with Edgar and Jerry
You are so right…this album is on my top 10 desert island albums…Jerry and Edgar together are out of this world sanging…take me church!
Johnny and Edgar are from Beaumont Texas. The north side, the poor black side. They learn a lot of their licks in church
Maybe that would explain the amount of soul
Wow. Thanks for taking us here. Never heard this before. Hits hard. Didn't know this was inside of Edgar. Talent? This man is legend.
Free outdoor concert, beautiful summer’s night, Miami, FL, with my beautiful cousin Sylvie. They performed every song on this album. Magical.
Damn ❤
So beautiful I loved it.
Yeah this is the original, Edgar wrote this. The whole album is amazing (Edgar Winter"s White Trash). Some of the best rock n roll, soul, gospel songs. I also recommend their live album (Roadwork), funky as hell.
Roadwork is one of my favorite live albums. Rick Derringer's guitar work is incredible.
Check the rest of this album. Save the Planet. Keep playin that Rock n Roll- great short lived band, Edgar put together.
Saludos de Argentina 🇦🇷💓💕💕💕

never heard this - thanks so much
This whole album is great.
Going to church with Edgar
Each time I hear this one its has me imagining what a collaboration between Stevie Wonder and Edgar would have sounded like.
This song would be a hit today.
Just beautiful. Thanks guys.
👊👍
Great song by Edgar Winter. Another song that showcases his voice is East Street.
Meant to say Easy Street
Check out Tobacco Road Live with his brother Johnny for more of his excellent singing.
I love this one The man was special so gifted
Was! He is touring with Ringo’s all star band!
He's still alive. Pretty sure he won a Grammy just recently
I highly recommend “Give it Everything You Got” and “Keep Playing That Rock and Roll” from this same album. 🔥🔥
You should check out "Give It Everything You Got" from the same album. Funky Banger!
Thanks I never heard this before and I appreciate that. I dropped your name on an andy and alex podcast. I think their subs will appreciate you all
Saw the EWG at the old Boardwalk Cafe in Nashville in 85’. Me and about 100 others will never forget it. Crazy good.
💥wow, never heard this... Thanks Airplay💥
This is a 1971 Edgar Winters song that he wrote!
Edgar's solo album Jasmine Nightdreams is worth a listen, stylistically all over the place, he can do anything pretty much.
Yea great one and really it is the E W Group ,Hartman, Derringer and drummer Chuk Ruff are on the album
Awwwwwwwwwwwww YEAH! This has to be one of the best songs ever written. You're right. It should be HUGE!!!!! EDGAR.... What a talent. Him and Johnny. Texas boys. Cat Stevens has covered it a few years back under his new name name but.... Yeah song is flawless in every sense
Edgar is now playing with Ringos band
Thank you for hitting this up….the whole album is fantastic
Nice song, next take a listen to the Live album Roadwork Edgar Winter white trash, songs Living in the USA and Still Alive and Well

Great album! Gotta do "Give it Everything You Got!" Road Work is a great album too.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song or if I did, I don’t remember it. Kinda grabbed me by the throat I bit. Wow. That was a nice discovery from Edgar. ❤️🔥
La and Che need to review the entire They Only Come Out at Night album. Every song on it is amazing. Thanks guys!!
‘I’ve got News for You” and “Save the Planet” and “Good Morning Music” all on this album…gospel/blues/rock fusion
Edgar Winter wrote this song. It was on his 1971 White Trash album.
I thought I'd drop off another suggestion for another Edgar Winter tune, if interested. This album “White Tran” is one for you guys to do. Wait til you hear the horns and blues vocals. Edgar does his legendary scream.
Check out Mannish Boy - Muddy Waters w/Johnny Winter
1977 album Hard Again produced by Johnny Winter. One of my favorites.
@@elwood4939 one of mine too. I was able to see them all together live touring for that album at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. That was a memorable night. I know many people request Mannish Boy but for me the others tracks on that album are better.
Blues singer Johnny Lang does a great version of this song too.
Edgar's other side. This was a fave from high school days in the 70s when a gf turned me on to it. He got soul.
Beautiful song. I especially like Jonny Lang's version... gospel and blues
Remember when you guys did Aja and then Kid Charlemagne as said you wished you had listen to Aja in order….Edgar Winter’s White Trash is that type of album…every song is fantastic and builds…you gotta react to the whole album
I believe Elton John had an impression on this song, as well as Billy Joel.
There are a lot of good songs on this album! Try: I've got the news, let's get it on, and more.
👍
ZZ Top - Ten Foot Pole
