I use that paint remover that you brush on, make sure you shake it good first. May take a couple of app's only takes a few minutes rinse well! What aspect in particular are you thinking about painting?
Well it secures the edges evenly so you don't get air pockets. I used double stacked coffee stir sticks, single ones are to flexible. Gives you an even clamp across the seam.
Thanks for the info ive seen those cars in the store and would buy them all the time thinking there a mistake from the factory. Now i know i was getting burned lol i guess i got alot to learn even after 20years of collecting
This is why you should never buy a "mistake car". There are not really that many mistakes made in factory so most likely is a fake. Best way to stop it is nobody buy these... ever. Good idea to tell store about fake returns too. This fraud just hurts all collectors in the long run. Glad I saw this. Thanks.
hey, can you do a video on painting?? i want to know if i can nail polish remover or actually submerge the whole car in paint stripper?? or will it eat through the newer cars?? dont think it will but it will definitely strip them. im just looking to do newer cars and such.
Wow that was shockingly easy, no wonder wrong package cars arn't quite so valueable. It's almost a bad thing that it opens so easily. Does the acetone leave any kind of trace on the back or does it dry out? Either way I may try this for fun! Stolen Garage cars are a big problem in my area. They swap them With the same casting from FE's of years past.
I did a little research and it turns out that the chemical is flourescent under black light. I'm going to check some of the errors I bought off ebay for residue. Thanks for showing this now I know what to ne aware of. If you have a black light or could get one could you do a video to see if it shows where you put the chemial?
I tried the same method as you put acetone on the sides to safely open up my package. It didn't work :( Do I have to add water to my paintbrush or something? Or does it got to do with room temperature? I added a good amount till the paint of the package started coming off.
This is by far the best way I've seen to remove the plastic packaging without damaging the card back. But you are the only one I could find who does it like this. Do you have any idea why others would prefer to use knives/scissors to cut into the bubble instead? It's not like the can reseal it after that kind of treatment anyways.
What kind of glue is best to use when repackaging the cars ?, I make customs and I am wanting to repack some of them .. to make them look factory sealed to sell as custom super treasure hunts to sell on eBay...
Was it a mainline car or adult collectible? I just did a mainline M3 BMW! Apply to the back of the mainlines and the front at the edge's of the blister for the Adult collectibles! Straight acetone nail polish does not work well!
my local walmart has boulevard blisters with basic cars all the time. The dirt bags are putting basics in M2 cases also, most of them still have the H.W. tampo on them! I told a manager and he looked at me like I was nuts.Oh well, I tried.
Hi great vidia, just seen your thing saying nail varnish remover don't work, I think it may depend on the formula as I tried it and it worked a treat, I glued it back together using just normal PVA glue which either dries clear, or I can't see it cuz it's white against the white background of the card. I did it with Hot Wheels Highway Hauler 2, I opened it took the car out and then resealed the blister empty so I now have the car displayed on top of the blister, very cool tip TY. I just looked up that Aleene's Tacky Glue and it is PVA, I have a gallon on Evo Stick PVA glue that I bought of Amazon for £7, I had no need for it I just couldn't resist a gallon of glue for £7, funnily enough I have a box of the same clips that you use to hold the card and blister together, which I didn't have a use for either when I got them, they were the right price and I knew i'd have a use for them sometime, and bingo here it is.
This is true however if you re-wet it and clamp it together you don't need glue! Oh if your into making dioramas you can reduce the glue with dish soap to apply dirt foliage, sand whatever soaks in real good leaves no noticeable residue. I love Aleene's!!!!! My wife bought 3 gallons of white glue for 2 bucks each! She brought it home, and I'm like what on earth am i gonna do with all that!!!! Lol
I have tried it a few more times and it wasn't as successful as the first time, I did get some pure a acetone but it left brown stains on the card, I think maybe it had something in it to induce vomiting if it was swallowed. What I did find was the results were more dependant on what brush I used, I got the best results using an old paste brush of my daughters which had very thick six stiff bristles on it, and the nail polish remover, you also need to let it soak in before you start to try and remove the blister.
thak you for the trick, i dont collect cars but action figures, and i want to know how to take out of cardboards without damage.. now i know it, you are great!
Thank you for the Info and btw I'm doing this for fun with my custom hotwheels just wanted to let you know lol great video and damn all people doing shady crap by taking them back to the stores!! Peace and thanks again!!
No sir it is decomposing! Crack that sucker and enjoy it! I started collecting in the package until they started falling off! I crack them all now and never look back!

I gave a friend of mine a "Paul Walker Special" (basically just a torched 918 because I didn't have a Carrera GT at hand, custom card and all). He thought it was very distasteful but kept it anyways.
It only really works on mainline car packages and it suppose if you can do it without noticing your good but there only dollar cars to start with! I sometimes buy 2 just for that reason! So many are made that value is pretty low!
My boyfriend has been trying regular acetone, nail polish remover and a few others. I guess Hot Wheels changed their glue since nothing has worked to separate the blister from the backing. He's made customs he wanted to repackage to hang on his man cave walls lol.
Jean Townes it works... Just put lots of the acetone on it. Most thinners in fact work. I use a nail polish remover and most of the time a good job will leave no marks back and if you straight it back in the time then it's gonna stick back. Pretty useful if you don't have strong glue like the wood glues and everything etc. Also it takes time
tried this with a card that had shiny paper on both sides. the acetone ate away the writing on the back and did not budge the blister like he said. I will have to try the "wicking" thing on the dual shiny cards. those dual shiny card blisters are a bitch to take off.
Sometimes. I can usually squeak something out. I have Spazmodic Disphonia and a few other types of nerve damage. As a result, even at it's best -my voice totally sucks.

I managed to get it out! I had to apply loads of acetone till it finally came out. Thanks so much!

You can use elmer's white glue, may take a bit longer to set! Remember a thin light film is all you need and clamp it tight!
It should work but i use straight acetone for paint clean up! Is it a mainline car or an Adult collectible ?
Can i use thee acetone they use for nail polish removing or does it have to be a certain kind?

is it necesary to do it?
What is the name of the glue you are using and if you could tell me what it consists of I I can't find the brand you are using thx
can i do this to fixed damaged plastic? ? like get a new car i dont need with similar body plastic etc?

Your welcome bud! Not seeing them lately that's a good thing!
@10h41 My apologies, the acetone i use is of the hardware store variety it comes in 1 quart cans. It's used for paint clean up.
Bro, i tried using the acetone for nails, it didnt work for me! is your acetone diffferent from nail acetone?
Great video now i know what to look out for.

Hum? I just did 6 2013 Mainlines all cleaned up nicely! Are you using straight acetone? Are you using the magic marker trick?
@simmsman4 Thanks for the kind words!

Stay tuned!
Thanks man, I was looking for a way to open a carded figure without damaging it. Now my 3A de plume card will be safe!
My pleasure!
By bonet do you mean the hood?
would this ruin the value? say I do this so I can just look at the car for a little while and then I put it back. would it ruin the resale value?
Wich matchbox car did you put into the blister?
So, nail polish will work?

I'm gonna do the new L case M3 to put a custom one in, maybe the new glue is different?
I tried it on a Porsche Boxster Spyder, the Showroom 2013 series. Didn't work front and back.

yes, I'm using straight acetone. I'm using a normal paintbrush for it though like in your video.
Yeah i gave up on the Hunt's! That's what got me started customizing!
Yeap it does! It does seem like they changed the paint on a few 2014 cars my acetone tampo removal process eats the paint quickly!!!!!!
this is brilliant.
Just did the new M3 opened right up! Tried a new trick, i used a glue stick to put it back together worked much better!
Oh sorry i mixed this up with tampo removal! Lol You must get it really wet the acetone dries quick! I just did a new BMW M3 to swap with a friend!
very nice video, thumbs up

Can I ua acetone-free nail polish remover? Thnx
