Woohoo! Back to good ol' DS3. My introduction to FromSoft and my personal favorite out of all of them. Was never much of a spell caster but ToD and Soothing Sunlight, oh boy
I did a regen build for the lolz and honestly, the most fun i had with them where in fight clubs it's really fun to see the other player getting more desperate the more time passes lmao
As a DS2 gameplay hater, I 100% agree. DS2 is the only Souls game that actually feels fun to be a Spellcaster in. DS3 just feels like every build takes too much time and commitment for spellcasting that is nowhere near as fun as just straight up weaving and countering the bosses and enemies in DS3.
DS2 is definitely what made me love spellcasting. The simply fact that it had an entire dedicated Hex spell tree made me so fucking happy. The game about the Dark finally had dedicated Dark Magic lmao. The other 2 games almost seemed scared to even approach that idea, although I guess it’s not all that suprising since not only are enemies weak AS FUCK to dark in 1 and 3, it just goes to show how powerful it’s supposed to be. In DS2 it was basically a study point, with covenants being dedicated to become more attuned to it. Like sorceries in every souls game
For a worthwhile amount of regen: bountiful sunlight + blessed weapon (infusion + bow glitch/tumble buff the spell) + blessed offhand + sun princess ring (+ pontiff right eye ig). That is, I think, the highest amount of regen you can slap on a build and it requires a glitch (you don't need that tbh) but if you gear your entire build to regen, its pretty good. Also use warmth if you're goin full king of the hill if you want Realistically its honestly more beneficial to run a physical build with just enough faith for bountiful light and blessed weapon
Man, DS3’s Wrath of the Gods and Elden Ring’s Wrath of Gold really makes me wish back to DS1 with its almost instant-cast Wrath of the Gods. The casting time feels so shit, I was hoping Elden Ring would fix it, but it never did.
Rusty cast with l2 on talismans, and you gain perseverance levels of poise on your cast. This fixes most of the issues with the lighting miracles and makes lightning stake land 95% of the time. Unwaverying prayer>>
Well nice to see you cleaning the rusty off your old videos and great timing because I got dark souls 3 today because of the sail on PlayStation so thanks for helping choose what spells I wanna use for my build
In Defense of the "One spell/item cures/gives resistance to multiple/all status effects": I think the Idea behind it is that you only need to carry/equip one item/spell and you can universally use it no matter which area you travers without keeping in mind: "Oh, I am entring the frost area now, better change my anti-poison spell against an anti-frost spell". At least if you're a personw ho constantly forgets to adjust spells, like I do.
Playing a Dragon Communion build in Elden Ring taught me that FP efficiency matters a whole lot less if the boss just dies fast, so nice to see that you took that into consideration
Great Chaos Fire Orb really helped me going for the Platinum Trophy since its pretty damn good at catching people off guard in PvP. Whenever I started casting it the other players would immediatelly rush in so that I could just remove the lock-on and spike the Fire orb directly into the ground in front of me guaranteeing at the very least a hit from the lava pool against the other player.
Please tell me you're going to do a bit more DS3 stuff until the Elden Ring DLC comes out, DS3 is still my favourite FromSoft game (and overall favourite game)
Hey, quick correction, at 54:53 you mention that Lightning Stake gets some hyper armor during its cast. I'm pretty sure talismans get hyper armor when you use their weapon art to cast instead of the regular cast, but have lower scaling then chimes. Using this, I think all incantations can get hyper armor.
Putting lightning blade as low as you did is fully insane. Lightning damage is disgustingly good in pvp and pve. Anyone ever buff the lothric knight greatsword with that? Nasty.
Also Ik it was prolly just him being funny, but it is decidedly NOT the most out of the way buff. Darkmoon is WAYYYY more out of the way. It’s locked behind the infamous proof of concord grind, and is usually scene as the gatekeeper for the platinum trophy
The whole ranking video is quite bad tbh. I am mostly mad about sunlight spear being so low, even lower than lightning stake even tho it does everything lightning stake does and more and deals more damage. I really hope people don't use this video as a guide for which spells to use and not to use
Unfortunately, by virtue that it's impossible to have less than 0 skeletons in your closet, the average amount of actual skeletons in closets is more than 0....
I wanted to disagree with a few of the things on this list before I remembered the caveat that PvP/Co-op was being primarily disregarded in these reviews. Great vid! It actually taught me a few things that I didn't know... like Chameleon worked against normal enemies and wasn't just a PvP spell
Having found you during the elden ring content flood, its really refreshing to see you talking about other fromsoft games! Maybe some more ds3/sekiro/bloodborne content mixed in with the inevitable and imminent elden ring dlc stream of content?
I have only played Dark Souls 3 once. During that playthrough, I had no clue about what most spells in the game did or how good they were, especially since many of them are so different from Elden Ring. I chose Pyromancer for the fun of it, picked up the pyromancies I could, and had a relatively fine spread of stats. That is all to say, I killed Pontiff Sulyvahn with like five Great Chaos Fire Orbs on my first try.
42:45 "it comes with a specialty, and that specialty is firing it at shield and watching them fly back like a sign spinner in a tropical storm." The metaphors and analogies you come up with are always fucking gold, my dude.
A note about seek guidance: it also reveal developer messages besides summon signs, but there's only 1 in the whole game that's useful is the humanity ladder puzzle in the dlc.
there is a single use case for twisted wall of light in the entire game...Aldritch. it can deflect his arrow rain attack, so if you're a wizard and having a hard time dodging it (somehow), there you go. seething chaos is also really fun to use in pvp, combined with warmth, you'll be surprised how many people fall for the trap, even still xD
@@yourdad5799 yeh, there was a similar spell in ds2 that lasted just a bit longer, but was really only useful to fire your spells through to change their trajectory in pvp, made dodging them slightly more difficult
Ignore my previous stupidity, I was wrong. Now that I'm a little deeper into the video this list is all over the fucking place. Like did you even play the game dude?
One use for “Hidden Weapon” I found when making a Oolacile build for Ds3 is using it in PvP with one-handed weapons, like going from Gothard’s to Followers Saber cause everyone always forgets about the Saber’s Weapon Art
Seeing your hate for regen spells reminds me how much I love them. They help me so much whenever I'm trying to empty out an area of all enemies and still have enough estus to kill the boss, or bosses.
Great chaos fire orb carried me all the way into the DLCs and even if a bit into them, every boss fight was a simple game of "who can hit the other five times first", it was nuts
As someone who always looked down upon fire themed characters across several video games for years and when trying out Dark Souls for the first time suddenly had the allure to become a Pyromancy main across all FromSoft games, this video makes me happy about my choice in life style
I've just recently started playing DS3 to fill the elden ring shaped hole in my heart and I gotta say how weirdly amazing the timing of this is to help figure out my next DEX/INT run
One thing that you forgot to mention about Soul Spear is that it pierces enemies, which could make it more FP efficient when cast into large groups to hit multiple enemies

@@heartnet40also that is such a sad thing to say about yourself lol, “as a dedicated hater” bro why XD
@@Foxtail190 Because I love the lore and story ideas in DS2 and how it helps build up to 3, playing the game just makes me weep lmao
Also use warmth if you're goin full king of the hill if you want
Realistically its honestly more beneficial to run a physical build with just enough faith for bountiful light and blessed weapon
14:35 is that Toms scream 💀
Man, DS3’s Wrath of the Gods and Elden Ring’s Wrath of Gold really makes me wish back to DS1 with its almost instant-cast Wrath of the Gods. The casting time feels so shit, I was hoping Elden Ring would fix it, but it never did.
Rusty cast with l2 on talismans, and you gain perseverance levels of poise on your cast. This fixes most of the issues with the lighting miracles and makes lightning stake land 95% of the time. Unwaverying prayer>>
the lack of time stamps or a tier list makes me cry
Snap freeze with the tinder halberd catalyst is a lot of fun.
Well nice to see you cleaning the rusty off your old videos and great timing because I got dark souls 3 today because of the sail on PlayStation so thanks for helping choose what spells I wanna use for my build
Hidden weapon has really helped me in pvp. I use it with a spear and nobody can tell how much distance they need to stay away from me.
The average amount of whole skeletons in a human body is more than one, due to how pregnancy works
Wow that hood goes up with that blindfold?? That looks fire
Loved the look back when I played. It was peak fashion.
I just got back into DS3 two days ago and I see this. Thank you!
Playing a Dragon Communion build in Elden Ring taught me that FP efficiency matters a whole lot less if the boss just dies fast, so nice to see that you took that into consideration
Now rank all the weapons in Dark Souls 3
Great Chaos Fire Orb really helped me going for the Platinum Trophy since its pretty damn good at catching people off guard in PvP. Whenever I started casting it the other players would immediatelly rush in so that I could just remove the lock-on and spike the Fire orb directly into the ground in front of me guaranteeing at the very least a hit from the lava pool against the other player.
I am simple man. I see Rusty ranking video, I click, and I enjoy my pseudo-podcast monologue content.
'Preciate you Rusty
Chameleon also has the added benefit of turning many pvp scenarios into a jolly shindig as everyone starts screwing around as statues.
Please tell me you're going to do a bit more DS3 stuff until the Elden Ring DLC comes out, DS3 is still my favourite FromSoft game (and overall favourite game)
If Chameleon’s placement isn’t revised and put at #1, we riot
Somehow I was hoping that there'd be a video like this for DS3, and you delivered
Yeah I did a whole playthrough doing just that and a boss never took more than 90 seconds. Except for Nameless King of course
Trying to take the ranking of these videos as a ranking is like asking pears from a apple tree. I watch them because the writing is funny, if wrong
The whole ranking video is quite bad tbh. I am mostly mad about sunlight spear being so low, even lower than lightning stake even tho it does everything lightning stake does and more and deals more damage. I really hope people don't use this video as a guide for which spells to use and not to use
@@xbirdshorts5075 It was only ranked as low as it where because you get this after the last boss from the game.
Unfortunately, by virtue that it's impossible to have less than 0 skeletons in your closet, the average amount of actual skeletons in closets is more than 0....
You've gone hollow...
9:28 Bro just turned Crystal Hail into Star Shower/Stars of Ruin from Elden Ring
Your usage of offensive miracles with a chime makes me think you don't undestand how to use them mate.
Literally
Yes, this seems to be the case
42:32 they renamed emit force to force, then called something else emit force.
Great job, translation team.
You should totally do a weapons ranking
I wanted to disagree with a few of the things on this list before I remembered the caveat that PvP/Co-op was being primarily disregarded in these reviews. Great vid! It actually taught me a few things that I didn't know... like Chameleon worked against normal enemies and wasn't just a PvP spell
We struggling till shadows of the Erdtree comes out
facts
I got DS3 4 days ago and I'm currently trying to make a pyromancy build, this list is gonna help a lot with spell choice :)
bro needs the elden ring dlc
Having found you during the elden ring content flood, its really refreshing to see you talking about other fromsoft games! Maybe some more ds3/sekiro/bloodborne content mixed in with the inevitable and imminent elden ring dlc stream of content?
Love all your Videos make my day all the Time
Pestilent Mist is pretty good, because it deals Percentage Damage. Get good at using it, and EVERYTHING will slowly melt away.
Not gonna lie, I watched this entire thing, thinking it had to do with Elden ring and only now did I decide to read the title.
you must not have watched it very well then. as its very obviously not Elden Ring.
I really love how a good third of the clips in the video are rusty failing badly to actually land the spells
bro NEEDS that dlc
I feel like taking a shot every time Rusty says the word "balance" or any variation thereof in this video could make for a pretty fun drinking game.
THE VIDEO WE ALL NEEDED!
Promotion Skip Button: 2:04
42:45 "it comes with a specialty, and that specialty is firing it at shield and watching them fly back like a sign spinner in a tropical storm." The metaphors and analogies you come up with are always fucking gold, my dude.
“Finally, a good fucking list”
A note about seek guidance: it also reveal developer messages besides summon signs, but there's only 1 in the whole game that's useful is the humanity ladder puzzle in the dlc.
0 comments in 15 seconds rusty fell off
Cringe
Ranking all the map fragments in ER, ranking fauna in ER, ranking all the floravin ER, ranking all the statues in ER
there is a single use case for twisted wall of light in the entire game...Aldritch. it can deflect his arrow rain attack, so if you're a wizard and having a hard time dodging it (somehow), there you go.
seething chaos is also really fun to use in pvp, combined with warmth, you'll be surprised how many people fall for the trap, even still xD
All that for magic barier to do better
@@yourdad5799 yeh, there was a similar spell in ds2 that lasted just a bit longer, but was really only useful to fire your spells through to change their trajectory in pvp, made dodging them slightly more difficult
I’m glad you had a nord sponsorship, reminded me I needed it! ❤
Keep these up man! I’d love to hear your take on all the souls games spells, especially with being able to see the evolution of the skills
bro's stamina bar is downright microscopic
Ignore my previous stupidity, I was wrong.
Now that I'm a little deeper into the video this list is all over the fucking place. Like did you even play the game dude?
Thank you Rusty, your videos will accompany me as I do my chores through the day and hope I dont die of exhaustion.
I see someone has missed DS3. Really been looking for this video
Great chaos fire orb carried me all the way into the DLCs and even if a bit into them, every boss fight was a simple game of "who can hit the other five times first", it was nuts
Was a bit confused when I saw the notification... Glad I wasn't hallucinating.
