My first time watching you and I’m very impressed with your review of each product with the pros & cons mentioned. Thank you for not using to much difficult techno-talk so an average non tech person can understand what you’re talking about. You kept it succinct, clearly showed nice close ups and didn’t speak so fast that I had to go back and listen over again to what you said. Well done I will be tuning in again for sure.

For some of us older folks, be sure your hearing aids have blue tooth to connect to your iPad. No need to hook up anything. Just switch to hearing aids from upper right corner of your iPad. All really great sound and nobody else hears what your watching. Just sayin’!

I was watching and got to the part where you discussed the Apple smart keyboard folio. I had one on my 2018 11" and it just recently wore out. Some little wire or connector finally died and the keyboard went dead. But, while it worked I thought it was great. I much prefer the Magic Keyboard Folio but I had the opposite experience - I got to use the Smart Keyboard Folio first, so I got to upgrade. For you it was more of a downgrade, and I can see that. The "mushy" keys are mushy, compared to the Magic Keyboard. Definitely. However, I have typed for two years on the Smart Keyboard Folio and I have to say that even if it's different, it isn't necessarily a bad keyboard. I still prefer the Magic Keyboard.
I will also say that the Magic Keyboard folio missed a big mark for me when I learned I couldn't fold the keyboard back out of the way and use the iPad in portrait mode. This was easy with the Smart Keyboard Folio. I think Apple needs to keep innovating and design a ver 3.0 that is the Magic Keyboard that also can fold back out of the way properly, letting users immediately and seamlessly go into Portrait mode.

Ok. A suggestion. Instead of the mouse that you recommended. Imagine you’re on a plane or sitting in a car. You really aren’t going to be able to get much land space for a mouse to move around with. That’s why I recommend the Logitech tracball or even smaller, the tracman lift. It is awesome for your thumb and while I was testing it out. Your thumb won’t get tired. It’s an awesome mouse that doesn’t need you to move your thumb far to go across a dual screen setup. From one side to the other end.

I bought a 2017 10,5" iPad Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I'm getting the Logitech Combo Touch for it. I had bought the 1st gen iPad Pro 12,9" but always felt it was too big, so the 2nd gen was the perfect size and the screen is much better. Thanks for the comprehensive tests!

Another case option is the Pitaka case…it is super sleek and works WITH the Magic Keyboard. So you can detach from the Magic Keyboard and still have rear/side protection, and when you want to use the Magic Keyboard, it will easily snap in place and the Pitaka case has built in metal pieces that allow the charging/etc to work between the ipad and the Magic Keyboad. It’s seamless. You don’t get all the adjustable angles with the other cases..but it’s very sleek.

I had the Apple Magic Keyboard and liked it, but gave it to my daughter. I MUCH prefer the Satechi Slim X1, which is featherlight, cheap , able to connect to 3 different devices and properly backlit. I have my M1 Macbook Pro for proper work, and long-battery work, and my iPad with thin case and this keyboard is literally perfect!

I had an ipad case logitech with magnetic hinge and will never buy one again: less than a year of use and the keyboard no longer stayed attached to the other part of the case no matter what I tried. The connectors were clean but no longer working. It became a real pain and I had to change this rather expensive case earlier than wanted. 12:11

Case with ipad pro cannot beat the UAG combat rated cases, they have a pen holder that can be used while your using it the pen never falls off. Last UAG case I used for six years on my old pro. I like my sennenhieser momentum 4 wireless headphones pair with my pro. Great sound all that like Sony but 60 hours battery life.

    Good video.
I’ve found the magnetically interchangeable cables to be useless. The magnet on my cable was too weak to be reliable. I’d have my phone or iPad plugged into the charger but if I set it down it or placed it in a stand, it would lose its connection and stop charging. It’s one of those products that sound like a good idea, but don’t work so well in practice.
And there’s another potentially very bad aspect if you happen to be in an environment with small bits of metal, like a metal shop or even a workbench were you use a Dremel to work on small projects. Magnets and tiny chips of metal can be a very bad combination (this applies to any other internal magnets on your devices, but it’s potentially even more hazardous with something like this magnetic cable where it might cause a short).
I’d say avoid this cable entirely. It’s not reliable in the first place and it might severely damage your equipment under certain circumstances.

That Logitech keyboard must be a newer model, mine does not come apart but I do like it for the protection and there's a flap to keep it closed that will also accommodate the pencil or not. I just don't like that the Logitech mouse pad takes more effort to click. It does make the iPad heavier as well compared to the magic keyboard. I like them both and swap to whichever is best for the use

At what timepoint in the video did Techisode reference the Kindle? I did not see it in the product lists.

Not only is the cover material on Apple’s keyboards a fingerprint magnet, it begins to wrinkle, tear and flake after only a few months. I went through two of them with the same results. Finally switched to the Logitech Folio Touch for my iPad Pro 11”. My only regret is not discovering this gem earlier. It’s half the price of Apple, the cloth cover is a dream, the trackpad is excellent, it’s got the function keys, the backlighting looks great, and it provides side protection _and_ protection for the Apple Pencil. Because it uses the Smart Connector it avoids Bluetooth lag and doesn’t need to be charged. It’s simply better than Apple’s product in every way.
The only downside to the Logitech is the weight.

Totally agree. I have the Logitech case, and it’s been simply perfect.

Wow, really? I’ve had my keyboard For about 18 month now and the only thing that I see is a shiny spot on my space-key from wear-down. What did you do to make the covering go all flaky?

@@DieFarbeLila88 That’s just it. I didn’t do anything. Just normal use. Happened with two different units. Maybe the material reacts badly to subtropical environments.

The weak point of unprotected iPad Pros, particularly the 12.9" models, is cracking the screen by dropping on any corner from as short a distance as 1 foot. The screen on my first 12.9 iPad Pro was broken by the carelessness of an allegedly "untrained" Apple Store employee who took my old, working one out of its protective case to examine it without my permission, since I wasn't trading it in, while I was awaiting the delivery from the stock room of a newer model, w/o asking me and w/o out putting it back into its corner-protective case, before handing it back to me with a new boxed iPad Pro, where it promptly slipped out (like a watermelon seed) from the sandwich made of the slick-wrapped new iPad Pro and the slick back of my old protective case, and destroyed it. A dispute arose, and I gave them back the new iPad Pro and reversed the credit card sale, and ordered a replacement directly from Apple, and purchased Apple Care for it. The new (in 2022) Apple case with keyboard protects the screen but not the corners, so when I inadvertently dropped the 1 year old iPad Pro 12.9 from a height of about a foot, it hit on the corner and cracked the screen. Under Apple Care, the replacement costs about $50 plus tax, and you get very quick shipping out of a new replacement iPad Pro, and restoring it completely from iCloud is as easy as Apple can make it, which is very easy. This time I bought an Apple Box Defender series to give my 3rd iPad Pro 12.9 the protection I needed. Screen replacement on an iPad Pro, if available at all, costs about $1,800, more than the cost of a replacement model. If you outgrow or wear out an earlier model iPad Pro, they can often be used as a second screen with an iMac, etc., if the screen is not cracked, which had been my intention before the Apple Store employee prevented me from carrying out my planned use of my old one.
P.S. If you've ever lost your expensive Apple Pen, as I have, I suggest the following from Amazon - "Stylus Pens for iPad, etc." on sale today 9-28-23 for about $8 plus sales tax, with free shipping of the two included pens and extra tips for Prime members.

As a new iPad owner, this is really helpful information. I much prefer when an 'expert' shares their impressions as to what is best, versus breaking down a dozen different options and leaving it up to the viewer to decide. What a waste of time!
It would be fantastic, if you haven't done so already, to do a video about the best screen protectors for different applications. Thanks for all this great information.

Older people lose the ability to hear high frequencies so it is a waste of money to buy expensive headphones. The money pays for the accuracy of those higher frequencies. You can have your computer emit sounds of different frequencies to find out if you can hear them or not.

ESR case is a bad copy of the Zugu case. Zugu has way better fabric inside and better place (for pencil charging). Pencil is sunk in the case a little so it doesn't fall out.

I use the Hyperdrive USB-C hub on my iPad Pro. It has a HDMI, USB-A, USB-C, Micro and SD card slots, and 3.5 mm headphone jack. It can also be used on a Mac. I also use the Xaosun USB-C to USB-A adaptor. This is great fro plugging directly into USB A ports in hotels and airports.

I really enjoyed this video but it seems that none of the iPad covers/keyboards that you covered are rotatable unless you have the magnetic one that you can attach to your fridge or some other metal surface.
As someone who uses their iPad in portrait mode more often than landscape, which rotatable cover would you recommend?

This may be a long shot. But it’s there any way that you can turn your screen black while you are on a keynote presentation whit out pressing “b” in the keyboard? I can’t have a keyboard while I’m giving my classes, I’m walking around, and my magic keyboard it’s to bulky. Any advice? Thanks
