Calcutta is a place of dark magic but it’s also a place of the Holi festival of colour. That’s what that coloured powder is that is flying about halfway into the video. Which is the perfect allegory for this piece of music. Lore time: Vessel is in a dark place emotionally. Having been removed from Sleep’s presence he is being tortured having everything he wanted in Sleep and then having it taken away. Sleep has decided after some time (the constant clanging of the bell tones always reminds me of Saturn: The Bringer of Old Age by Gustav Holst, the passage of time, the droning of the slow drip as we must wait for things) to visit Vessel in his sleep. And she comes to him to keep him wanting. She gives him peace, he feels complete having given parts of himself to Sleep he only regains when Sleep returns. But by morning Sleep is gone. The world around him has these bright colours and it seems as though they can’t affect him. They are dry, they wouldn’t stick to him and it seems the brighter the world around him is THE DARKER he actually becomes. The imagery of the face covered in plastic and the lipstick is a clue to the viewer that there is a deception here. The love that Vessel feels is surface deep. Sleep is wearing a mask of her own. Making it seem her presence is all the proof that Vessel needs to justify his infatuation. While he must wear his mask to make him nothing… a position he has no issue succumbing to. He wants Sleep to over take him. Make him whole and he’s willing and frothing at the mouth tonight prove it to her. He is fully her plaything now, and he has no idea. Love your reactions guys. This band has changed me and my life for the better.I found them in a really dark and terrible time in my life.I know this has probably been said a million times but their music truly saved my life and i will forever be entwined with them and their incredible music.I think this song hits so hard to me because its like almost like he's trying to hang on to his old self and trying to fight being this new person,also the lyric I'm whole again for just a moment until the morning comes is so deep.Thank you guys for the incredible reaction videos and being genuine with the....WORSHIP 🫶
