The video for "Jaws" might have initially been meant for this song. It fits and that might be something. Or not, kinda part of the fun.

I read somewhere that the video for Jaws WAS supposed to be the video for Nazareth. But they decided to let a very small part of that story come out in the video for Nazareth. I’m not going to spoil what happens with Jaws yet. I think they did this to tell the story of Vessel’s past more effectively. The video for Nazareth is just a gigantic tease.

@@RealLifeCoupleReact it’s like 49 or 50 songs, the entire discography. And every part of it progresses the story. So it’s a bit of a slow burn. Once Sundowning starts the story becomes more condensed and somewhat easier to follow. These older pieces are just somewhat scattered remains that Vessel kind of holds onto as we embark into this three album trilogy.

Sorry this will be long, lol. I have so much to say about this.
Nazareth was where Jesus was from so yes Christmas would be ringing a bell for this city. However it’s important that Nazareth in Hebrew has meanings “to watch” or another meaning is “branch”. Branches have so many different iterations in Vessel’s writing. But they are mostly being described as entangled. Boughs breaking, branches in the flood, they are spindly and easily catch things in them. So if they are using the name Nazareth in that context… it’s fucking brilliant.
Biblically Nazareth was not a happening place in the time Jesus was growing up. Some speculation on being morally lax even, which would make the subjects of this song right at home.
So in the context of the story (again just my interpretation) this is a fever dream being concocted by Sleep. Sleep can pretty much do whatever they want because Sleep is in a dreamland. This night was WAY before Vessel attempted suicide. Maybe before Sleep even started coming around. It seems to play out as a drug deal gone wrong. There was a relationship with someone in Vessel’s life. And he held her in serious regard. There is tenderness and softness when he speaks of her. And this is not the last time we see her show up. I think this is Eden.
Vessel finds himself praying to Sleep (in present day) and she comes to him and shows him who he was then. The more he hates himself the more satisfied Sleep becomes so buckle in.
This is the before Vessel doing scummy things when he didn’t know who he had with him. Eden may have been a bad influence but she loved him anyway. Sleep needs him to see this because it’s the beginning of the breaking down of Vessel to be SLEEP’S VESSEL. “Knocking on the bedroom door with money. Building you a kingdom. Dripping from the open mouth, I’ll show you what you look like from the inside.” This is a very quick scene of an overdose. So Vessel bought drugs and they were planning a bender of a night and the drugs went wrong. The second verse is the same “let’s load the gun make her eat the tape in the bathroom mirror see if she can guess what a hallow point does to a naked body” the tape may be acid dosing, the gun may be a syringe. The hallow point could be a gun or a syringe. There is a little bit of vagueness to the writing. And then it all goes tits up.
The “let’s fuck her up” it’s one of two times he ever uses profanity. It’s also spoken from a third party. So maybe sleep is encouraging him to relive this entire debacle over and over again. And Sleep is enjoying it. But rest assured Eden dies every time they play this out. Couple this with Vessel’s insistence that Sleep is still holding his best interests and he must be torturing HIMSELF through this, he STILL chooses Sleep as he continues to slide out of his body. Every thing Sleep shows him is meant to make him fear the waking world. Fear himself and feel further disconnected from anything other than Sleep.
Sleep is happy now. Vessel is fully entombed and the ghosts of his past will hold him there for far longer than they should. Vessel waits patiently for Sleep to come back he knows now that there is nothing left inside of him.
    Worship.

The hollow point is a type of bullet meant to expand inside the body of the target, meant for unarmoured people (naked body). It will kill or at least cause long and serious injuries to the body.
So either there was a gun, or at least a high level of violence in the act.

I remember hearing "Nazareth" for the first time. Goosebumps, his voice, the layers, the shifting. The second time I listened more for lyrics and I realized what he was relaying, and it knocked me off my footing for a bit. Once I had the chance to swallow it down and think outside any absolutes, it's one of my favorite Sleep Token songs again.
I know very little about the lore, quite honestly. When I first started my journey through their music it was easy to think of Vessel as singing about a devastating relationship with a human female. 🤔 Now things have a different twist to them even though I still struggle with the juxtaposition between human female/deity.
Love what you two are doing as you journey through their catalog. You have turned yourselves into my favorite reaction channel with your stories, banter, genuine selves. I wish you the best as you attract more attention! ❤

This song does not meant to be sexy, it is the darkest song of ST. It is when Vessel proves to Sleep that he is worthy by possibily killing his last girlfriend. Feel and read the lyrics on next reactions please. Stay Safe.
