- This is probably the best day of Pike fishing I have ever experienced. I lost count of the number of Pike I caught, but I know I caught enough to make this an unforgettable day of fishing! It felt like every cast was going to produce something. Can't wait to go back!!

I'm sitting here swatting at those bugs! Glass calm days are awesome, but sometimes the payoff is swarms of critters all hungry for some human flesh and blood!! Sincerely appreciate that you show love for pike fishing. I know a lot of hardcore walleye guys who despise pike, but I'm like you- "walleye-not gonna lie" but for a good adrenaline rush...PIKE BABY

@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors pike rule, I cant understand they aren't on more peoples bucket list. Pound for pound I think they rival a SMB. Pike are crazy jumping, diving under the boat, line breaking, head shaking what more could a fisherman want.

Hope everyone noticed how easy that was just cutting the hooks instead of ripping them out like so many amateur fishermen do, its ridiculous to do that to any fish.
Save your fingers and the fish, dont worry about a silly hook, they are cheap and you can always get more, they make replacement hooks every day.
If you can afford to fish you can afford a decent hook cutter, do yourself a favor and bring one with you, dont expect your buddy to have one in his boat.
I personally by a few cheap ones at harbor freight and give them away to people that are notorious for being unprepared.

What an amazing fishery. And I agree 100% about the fight of a good sized pike. How they can rip drag on an almost fully locked 400-sized reel is beyond impressive.

Clayton great video. I fish alot of pike and found in Ontario lake temps are still 16-19C and pike are not where they are. Fish everyday and seeing the Pike only hit at an hour before sunset. Really interesting fishing year here in Ontario. Great to see the water is 55F and you are in 9-11 feet of water. I appreciate the rock comment because it is true. The rocks retain heat and bait fish will be there.
Has been way different this year for sure... Rocks are such a good thing late in the year :)

Great thing about living in this area is the amount of lakes that are holding so many big fish from pike to walleye a variety of trout species

We used to fish the surgeon weir river at pawistic lodge until it closed Amazing fisheries 5 lb eyes and tons of pike averaging 35 to 40 inches Glides worked amazing in 10ft watet

Nice pike and loads of em.. Reminds me of domaine poutraincourt in Northern Quebec. Old private fly in that was opened by road to the public in the 80s. 45 to 48 inch nothern were comon as well as 12 lb walleye.. Lets just say no longer because too many of the big ones were taken out..remember assholes with 20 huge northerns hung up as trophys. What a waste..

I would be tempted to stop it with my rod and the pike would loose interest since it slowed down to much, but the reel move is just right!! And those series about lodges are amazing too!! Always entertaining and instructive. Hope you will come to Quebec for the smallies and muskies someday hehe!
Hi Clayton, I'm looking at getting into some bigger pike fishing and am wondering what you'd recommend for reel for throwing bigger bait like you do in this video for pike. I know you’ve talked in other videos about setting up the treble hooks to spin. Looks like you have it on the shine glide. What are you adding to the hooks to let them spin a few times?

I just got a 9" 4D line thru perch in the mail. I can't wait to use this thing, it looks and feels so real. It has 2 trebles on it, should I cut the rear one off?
Guess I should specify that's it's the segmented perch, not the shad style that you are using.
I would run the two trebles with it. Could make it barbless though for easier release.
My PB is 54 inches caught it in Maine no joke got pics to prove it caught it in a little feeder stream to the Androscoggin river in lisbon Falls Me. on a golden shiner
