The Sim*Suture Module will help the learner practice skills of simple interrupted and running suture, instrument tying, vertical mattress sutures, and running subcuticular sutures. As with all our modules, practice outside the simulation lab is encouraged with the availability of all necessary supplies: suture pad (with printed lines to guide placement of sutures), surgical instruments, and suture material. The exercise book provides the opportunity for the learner to practice in any convenient locale. Enough suture material is provided to place over 250 single needle passes. The time required for this module is about 4-6 hours. Curriculum offers opportunity for formal objective skills assessment (OSATS) when the module is completed. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

Had stitches once. My toe had nearly ripped off. One came out so quick- I was confused as to why they would even try and close up the two pieces of skin they did, they didn’t belong together!

Correction, the knot shouldn't be on the edge of the wound, it should be away from incision.
What about midline incision knot should it be tie on the edge or in the center

Is 6 knots really necessary? Some hospitals suture with only 3 knots. Is this just at preference thing?
When I was a medic in the US Army, I was taught 3 knots.
some say that you have to do at least four in order to combat tension, but i was taught that you do three knows of 2 wraps, then 1, then 2 again. i'm not sure what the difference is between techniques
christopherkjaer it depends on the suture material some of them need 3 knots like silk and vicryl and others need 7 knots like PDS and prolene and nylon .
Added security. It also builds the knot up so it can't be pulled through the hole created by the suture.
I was always taught 3 also though.
i assume 3 knots are for when it's a small wound that's not all that deep and on a spot of the body where there's not much stretching of the skin, 6 if it's a bigger, deeper wound, on a spot where there's allot of movement and stretching, like near the knee of elbow or somehting... or if they just want to make sure that the wound is really secure and will lower the chance of infection. I don't know, i'm not a doctor and i haven't had any medical training. i'm just making a wild guess.

"When possible, do not touch the needle with your hand" (proceeds to grab needle with hand)
Simple interrupted suture...basic rule, 'down, pull needle up-and-out, re-enter on opposing side from below, pull up-and-out...never spanning on one pass.' Video shows you EXACTLY what basic suturing tells you NOT to do...VIDEO OFF!!!
