Hope to make it to that area next year. Love the water sites. But the ferry with an RV makes me nervous 😁 Love bridges though. Thanks for the beautiful footage of the fort, towns and chocolate 🍫 😋 Alice
Once again…….a nice neck of the woods! I would like to take the 5ver on the ferry out of Anacortes to Orcas Island, but it might get iffy to fit into a spot at Moran SP. Can’t beat view standing at the top of the tower on Mt Constitution.
Marc, as always you provide such a great history lesson with your videos. We have been up that way several times but did not know any of that history. Thank you- Kyle and Michelle
Suzane - In regards to the forts, I find it amazing how people could build such large and strong buildings without the machinery and computer designing that we have now. The same goes for all the museum pieces that you showed. Lots of equipment, furnishings and clothing made by hand by people. Amazing!
Thanks mark by for my favorite video by you you’re theme music set the mood so fittingly. And that is such a beautiful area of our country. Thanks again for keeping my dreams alive.
As a local (Olympia), I love this area....You REALLY do a great presentation of our area....thank you. I'm excited to go rediscover these places myself....
Honestly, if I was trying to navigate the triangle as part of warfare, I would probably just bypass them entirely through Deception Pass and then disembark wherever or via Aberdeen. Considering the well protected gateway into the sound... it would be a very difficult thing to pass unless you would have brought like entire chinese fleet or something. On that side of the world Brits were far too stretched thin and it was reasonably far from even Asian navy. Hmm. They thought differently back then. Was interesting to hear how their equipment migrated across the ocean to philippines and across the continent to NY. That is quite some haul both ways.
Deception Pass is notoriously challenging to navigate, and leaves you very vulnerable to close-range fire from on shore. I therefore tend to doubt that was a very good option, either.
Thanks Marc... great historic coverage and lovely land and sea scapes. When you were on the ferry, the tidal surge was incredible. Smaller boats simply can't travel there at certain times... it would be way too dangerous.😳 Gord
@@GrandAdventure Indeed... Marc! I didn't see any pleasure boats around... just those ships you were on. I have to believe allot of ships, from times earlier, went down in those waters. Gord
I lived in Port Townsend for 12 yrs. My father served there during ww11 and is buried there. I have wonderful memories of Fort Warden and also Port Townsend. We often ferried over to Fort Casey.
Hello Mark 👋 I'm so sorry I missed Wednesday evening. Finally got back into a service area. Wonderful episode 😊 I always enjoy the history lessons 😊 Port Townsend is such a cute town. It definitely has a different feel to it 😊
Thanks Marc. Great video! Can’t wait to see next weeks report on La Conner. Sounds like you will be staying in the Marina campground. We’ve stayed there a few time. Easy walking distance to the town.
We always enjoy your videos and traveling places we've never been before. If you think of it continue to write reviews for Campendium. This year has been the year for new places for us ( here in the western states.) So we depend on Campendium often. Thanks again!
Great video! I'm really glad that you chose to stay at Fort Casey, so we could get the tour as we have not stayed there. We have camped many times at both Fort Worden and Fort Flagler, both are fabulous. We also enjoy spending a little time in Port Townsend when we are camping nearby. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Mike! We've thought about Fort Flagler camping ever since first seeing the campground from the ferry back in 2018. One of these days we'll get there.
$100 ferry boat ride Yikes!! That is a long drive from Townsend to Whidbey Island. It is a long ride from the top to the bottom of this island. When I use to work tugs, we would tie up at the foot of Anacortez about twenty feet from the hardware store. Talk about convenient. Ram 👍🏼👍🏾
Convenient indeed! So was that ferry, for I would've spent about the same amount in diesel just to drive around, not to mention the stress and aggravation. It was a worthy investment.
We are watching now. Jim says “ Hi”. The last few weeks we have been doing chores. Today rewiring the boat trailer. We are enjoying the video. More forts!!!♥️ I love how there are 3 in a triangle. Beautiful area to visit. Wish we were on the road! Hopefully watch live next week. Good video, Marc!
Thanks for the great video, Mark! We're from Washington State and have spent a good amount of time in these locations. We'll actually be in La Connor in a few weeks!
Fantastic, Jeff & Patty! Have a wonderful time, La Conner is an absolute gem. You may appreciate a sneak preview via tonight's video Premiere th-cam.com/video/HyaDBDEnjVk/w-d-xo.html .
Well thanks for letting us know where our ferry went…we live on Vashon island and one of our ferries has been missing lately, but then we see it dry docked on your video up in Anacortes getting refurbed…too funny…we were just wondering about this earlier today…
That is too funny, Dean! Mystery solved. While staying in La Conner, the site of next week's episode, we were next door to a wonderful Vashon Island couple in a super B. We had a terrific time chatting with them.
Marc, I’m guessing this area could be quite easily navigated with a Class B. I travel solo and that’s all I need for my comforts. Thanks for a great tour of the region and those forts. That was fascinating. Thank you for another great video.
You're most welcome, Bill. With a class B, no issues whatsoever anywhere in this video. With anything larger I'd suggest that folks park the RV outside of Port Townsend in the transit lot, then either take your other vehicle or the local transit into town. It's crazy tight in downtown Port Townsend.
Mark, once again you did a grant great video, so truly enjoy everyone. It would interest me to know the routing you drive to reach each grand adventure, just a quick map clip or route description in the comment section as I might wish to someday take the same paths.. Thank again, Thomas
Just found your channel. We live in Port Townsend. Great video. Thanks again.
You're most welcome, and thanks for watching, Charley! Welcome aboard.
It’s been years since I’ve travelled through this beautiful area, and will have to do it again soon! Thanks!
You're most welcome, Curtis. Thanks for watching!
Hope to make it to that area next year.

Thank you Alice! Hope to see you soon. 😄
Should of never left the Island. I miss this place!!!
Whidbey is truly beautiful. And we loved nearby La Conner, too th-cam.com/video/HyaDBDEnjVk/w-d-xo.html
Very interesting. Thanks.
You're most welcome, Pete. Thanks for watching!
As a resident of Port Townsend, it's nice to run across a TH-camr have being here documenting this little slice of heaven
It's a beautiful town, Michael. My only wish is that we had spent a few days there before getting on the ferry. Next time for sure.
Once again…….a nice neck of the woods!
I would like to take the 5ver on the ferry out of Anacortes to Orcas Island, but it might get iffy to fit into a spot at Moran SP. Can’t beat view standing at the top of the tower on Mt Constitution.
Thanks Scott! We looked into moving through the San Juans, but encountered quite a bit of difficulty finding any space that would work.
Marc, as always you provide such a great history lesson with your videos. We have been up that way several times but did not know any of that history. Thank you- Kyle and Michelle
You bet, and thank you! Now you two have a good reason to go back. 😉
🖖 Hoooowdy everyone
howdy! We were happy to have you at the Premiere, thanks for coming.
You sure do put together great videos! It’s impressive to watch how deep you dive into every area you visit. Keep it up! 🙌
Thank you Eric!!
I am currently camping at Fort Casey campground! I have been enjoying exploring Whidbey Island this week!
How cool that you watched it while you were there, Gloria! Enjoy your time on the island.
You're visiting so many of the pleasant places in puget sound. Fantastic trip
Thank you, John! Next week's episode from La Conner was an unexpected find, too.
Really good stuff. This was a nice journey through the past. I envy you! Thanks.
Thank you Brenda! But don't envy us, anyone can do this. Where there is a will, there is a way.
Another home run Marc. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, Frank!
You go to neat and memorable places. Thanks for taking us there.
Thank you for coming along, Jim!

So true, Suzane. Human determination back in those days was pretty impressive.

Our pleasure, MD! Thanks so much for your kind words, and for coming along.
My favorite part was the chocolates and brownies 😂😂😂 Beautiful video !!! Thanks GA
Ours too! Thanks, J!

Thank you Robert! I trust you saw last week's episode from Olympia, too? If not, you may find it interesting to see our take on your home town.
Your videos are the best! Love your travels!

awesome episode. I drove thru Seattle when I have my 32ft fifth wheel. I was something else. Thanks Don.
LOL! Thanks, Don. That's why we found the ferry route around Seattle so attractive.
Loving your Washington travel log...we are loving seeing some of the places we missed on our recent trip. Stay safe !
Thank you George, and same to you! We have a few more Washington episodes to come before we point our truck eastward.
Thanks Marc... great historic coverage and lovely land and sea scapes.
When you were on the ferry, the tidal surge was incredible. Smaller boats simply can't travel there at certain times... it would be way too dangerous.😳

That tidal current (just off the shore of the campground, BTW) was why the kayak stayed on the roof of the truck.

Great job Marc.. It's been awhile since i have seen one your videos life has been so crazy theses past few weeks..
We're thrilled to have you back, Timothy! Hope things calm down for you a bit.
another very nice adventure. We live for 4 years (only 4 years) on Vancouver Island BC. such a wonderful part of the world. As always, safe travels.
It sure is, Shawn. As always, same to you as well.
Thanks Marc. Great video! Can’t wait to see next weeks report on La Conner. Sounds like you will be staying in the Marina campground. We’ve stayed there a few time. Easy walking distance to the town.

Great point, SueAnn. We need to get back to it.
Interesting stuff!! I’m regretting not taking a ferry while in WA, a good enough reason to return. Thanks Marc!😊
It's always good to have a solid reason to return, isn't it?
You're up in our neck of the woods, we live on Camano Island. Great video.
What a beautiful place to live, Steven! Thank you so much for watching.

My Favorite state park in Washington. Yes, our Governor caused the Ferry shortage from vax mandate.
It's a beautiful park, Joseph. A phenomenal location, and a tangible history that you can just walk to from the campground to see.

You do a lot of nice, smooth zooms in your videos. Are you doing that by hand or do you have a power zoom on your camera?

Nice video, so where did you find a dump station? Strange there wasn't one at that Washington State Park.
Thank you! Our next move to La Conner was quite short and that was a FHU site, so we just dumped there.
