- I CAME ACROSS THIS COZY CABIN DURING A HEAVY SNOWSTORM. I DECIDED TO TAKE SHELTER HERE FROM THE WEATHER AND SPEND THE NIGHT. THERE'S A STOVE HERE, WHICH MEANS I'LL BE WARM!

I really respect that you cleaned it up and left it better than you found it, which is pure class. Somebody put a ton of hard work into building it, but they most likely would be happy that it was there for you, when you treat it with respect. Great video! 👍😎

Okay, so... at 30:30 of 33:20 I still don't see a blizzard. Like all of the last 6 "out in the wilderness" videos I've watched (all in the winter, with snow), everyone has had tea of some sort. Okay, fine, in the evening. But in the morning? Nothing. No coffee. Watched a guy prepare a fabulous breakfast with sausage and eggs and other goodies, and... no coffee! Barbaric! Gotta say this, though: that guy in this video made a fabulous stew (I wanted some!).
Somehow I don’t think he just happened to come across this cabin. Had all the tools and a brush to clean the cabin and the hey way he stationed the camera as if was there for the first time.
I find it amazing that he was able to pull al the tools, and the food, and everything else out of that one backpack. It must have a lot of room inside.
Convenient to have a table cloth also...lol

I was always taught to leave the place better than when I found it and clean out the stove and set it up so that in an emergency someone can make a fire quickly. Leave the matches out on the table spread apart so that someone with frozen hands can still pick the matches up and strike them.
I cannot leave a hotel without cleaning up the room I spent the night in so I respect how he left everything in much better shape..
Me too. You ALWAYS leave dry tinder and wood, and a can of food if you got. Don't leave food that would being animals, like jerky or dried fruit. Also leave a candle and some waterproof matches along with a note or a little gift to say thank you. I ALWAYS carried utiity candles and waterproof matches along with a small tin of char cloth. Once in Canada, in a little hootch ike this, when I blew my candle out, there were about 50 gray rodent critters swarming the place. Crawled on my face chewed my hair and cwool hat. Freaked me out big-time.
Very thoughtful to spread out the matches for frozen hands.

Just a thought...drag the whole log back to the cabin then cut it up. Saves you from juggling all those short pieces when carrying them back...

What is really interesting about these kinda vids is that, no matter in what fucked up grotto or weather people spend the night, the meal they're doin is always top notch.
Yeah and how they get all their activities filmed WELL, almost like it's planned or rehearsed, even collecting and chopping the wood. Have they been before. Snow storm and blizzard? A few flakes in the air and an inch or two on the ground ?? 🤔🤔
Yeah, and the format/formula is always the same:
1) 'Find' the cabin
2) Clean up the cabin
3) Collect wood/light a fire
4) Break out a bunch of raw meat & vegetables and cook a hot meal from scratch
5) Sleep ONE night during a 'blizzard' and then leave the next day

Well, from the equpment brought on this trip, I would say he has been here a few times times bfore this video, would even go so far as to say this is one of his first builds but not visited for a year or two in advantage for other more exiting videos.

I didn't think the food looked bland. I thought it looked good. He did worry me with his knife skills. I was hoping he didn't hack a finger off with the knife or the hatchet. He did a good job making that old cabin look warm and cozy. Good video.
Only thing I d change is dont solit your largest wood to start the fire. Id have gathered some tinder from fallen branches that ws relatively dry and done a second wood run. Also, I'd double check the depth of the firebox. So your woid would be sure to fit.

I was thinking the same thing. I even wondered if the builder and this poster were friends and this was a planned outing to this stone hut because who takes a brush, a big saw, and a tablecloth on a hike?
Canned food in jars will freeze if it’s built with wood in the ground unless your there 24/7 with a fire to keep them from busting.

Tad misleading! I found this cabin in a SNOW STORM, A BLIZZARD?? There were a few flakes of snow floating about? There was an inch or two on the ground? I'm glad you found the cabin it would be better to stay overnight in and it's nice you respected it. Must have taken a while to keep arranging your camera to film all your activities there !! I've tried filming on a propped up camera or phone it rarely works well. Batteries?? Emergencies?? Good wishes ! I'm on Dartmoor!!

WTH, watching this dude make beef stew had me pulling my hair out! If he'd had just started the fire and started it in the pot when he got there, it would have been done by the time he was eating it and it would have been even better!
