  • Changed the original O-ring chain to an O-ring chain. RK brand Still no rubbing on the tire knobs!
    Went for a 20 mile ride and the chain didn't stretch at all, so I guess I will loosen it up a bit.
    I also explain how to shorten chain if needed after sprocket changes.

    motocheez, you need to write up an owners manual with full assembly instructions for the Hawk. I would pay $ for that and I'm sure a lot of other people would also. The company that makes the hawk should give you one because your channel has sold a heap of them!

    I really like your videos. I’m planning to order a Hawk in a day or two. But I’m SO scared of getting a Chinese piece of crap. I bought a Chinese go cart couple years ago and the wheel bearings went out that weekend. But the Hawk 250 seems to be a good buy. I hope I don’t regret buying it. ! BTW your videos are what has convinced me to go ahead and get one. I will purchase ALL my mods and upgrades thru your link!!!! Good job!!!

      Thanks! I've also gotten China junk pocket bikes. They aren't really that bad, yeah you'll need to tinker but it's 1/3 the price of the cheapest 250 Japanese dual sport.
      Be sure to tell whoever you purchase from that! Lol. I can't get any replies from saferwholesale... I do not recommend. Them at all.....

    Hey love your vids and you definitely got it done, however anyone else putting a new chain on please for the love of god use a chain press tool and a micrometer they are cheap on amazon. Also you need to grease the pins and o rings when you put the master link together

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doing either front or rear does same. Up in front, down in back higher speed. Down in front or up in back is lower speed better torque.
      I usually just do the front because 1 tooth up in front is equivalent to 3 down in the back. Some do combo of both for highway 17/45. You'll have to do some mods to cruise at 70, that's about max

      @@MotoCheez I’m not sure why I’m hoping it’s due to the stock rear sprocket not being 428 pitch

    so you did have to cut a few links off when you put on your sprockets?

    • @MotoCheez

      Richard Cruz yes. Stock links, I think it was 120. RPS or aftermarket will still work, there's plenty of adjustment.

      Sheyra Concepcion I know, a few other people saying the same thing. I didn't have any luck looking to update my links either.

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      428 is the pitch of the chain, thats the important part to fit your sprockets, the 130 is links, so you could get longer and take links out to shorten it...

    • @Sshheeyy
      @Sshheeyy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MotoCheez i found 428 130 links by RK! (: now the tough part will be the actual installation. correct me if im wrong, but i saw that you only messed with the tensioner. i saw other videos where they also played with the bolts on the side too, and would remove some needle? is that necessary? thank you

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sheyra Concepcion you have to remove fitter pin to loosen axle, then loosen adjusters, the take apart the old xhain, hook the new chain to it and drag it over the front sprocket, in neutral of course. put the master link (hard) and adjust.

      I could not find the recommended chain play in the manual, do you measure the chain play with the rear wheel off the ground on a stand or on the kick stand?

    Hey man great video. I did a lot of upgrades on my bike last weekend. Including a changing the sprockets and the chain. I went with a 17/43 ratio and didn't have to take any links out of the chain. The Shinko 705's made a huge difference on the road. With the 17 tooth front sprocket I had to do a bit of grinding and sanding on the cover so that the chain would not rub. I'll try to upload of the finished bike and talk through all my upgrades. I also got a longer shifter and it makes a huge difference for me. Here's the link for the one I got: www.amazon.com/MSR-Folding-Shift-Lever-Steel/dp/B000WJAVJ4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

    • @Andrew93
      @Andrew93 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to, the chain would rub. I went with a regular chain instead of an o-ring. Just a standard 428- 130 link chain.

      There wasn't any extra room with the 17 on there

      +Andrew93 it was tight squeezing the cover on but it didn't rub on mine. I got JTR sprockets.
