Would I need a Speedohealer and which one. ( amazon show jap specific Speedohealer products ) and also would you recommend getting a new stronger rear sprocket the same number as factory.
For anyone watching that has a Magician isntead of the hawk, you'll have to grind 3 tabs on the right side of your wheel where the new sensor goes (old sensor was on left side) AND a little more gridning so that the new sensor makes contact with the bearing, this keeps the sensor from binding. ALSO, the new sensors hole for the axle bolt is not large enough, so you'll have to dremel the hole large enough. Next, swap the gasket from the right side of the wheel to the left ALONG with that round metal piece. With that round little metal thing, you'll have to grind it down as well, the length will be the length your OLD sensor was that was on the left side. *i swapped the sides because the rotor was hitting the new sensor, no other way around it. NEXT you'll have to do a little rewiring, it's not a direct hookup, but you can make it work. DO NOT worry about the solid blue wire from your cluster, the magician already has a headlight notification on the gas tank. And I can't figure out how to get the fuel meter working.
I got it working, the only thing that doesn't work is the gas indicator. Maybe someone else can figure that out. I added a few more notes in my last comment

Looks like for those buying a Hawk it would be easier to just buy the Digital cluster and have it on hand ready to install when the bike arrives from (enter seller here) and install the cluster right off the bat from day one. It is what I did with my Trail Tech Vapor when I assembled my Bashan "WILL 200" bike a couple of years ago. Everything is already part from shipping and everything is nice and CLEAN to start with. Use dielectric grease in each connector to keep out water and then also wrap each connection with good high quality electricians tape. Along with using blue lock tight on everything, this goes a looooooong way to making a china bike reliable! lol Think I will order all the aftermarket parts ( Mikuni carb, exhaust system, digital cluster, metal brake light switch, folding shift lever ) right off the bat and install all that as I am assembling the new bike if I go this route. Any suggestions of best place to order a Hawk from? ( and I hope you dont say Motobuys!!! I did NOOOOOOOT have good service with them when I ordered "WILL" a couple of years ago!!!!) Thanks!

Careful when reinstalling the hawk's tank I had the weld just above the anchor bolt fail on me last week. I live on a hardly ever maintained gravel road so I'm thinking I tightened bolt to much putting tension on it and the rough rides to work split it.
I installed the zanella digital cluster on my 24 hawk x and everything works great except for the tachometer… reads accurate when idling but barely any throttle and it reads all the way up to 10k rpm and it’s obviously only revving to like 3k 😂 any ideas on what my issue is?
For anyone reading this the brown & white wire from the new cluster goes to the old wirings yellow & white striped wire for the gear indicator “gear 5” I believe it was
on one of your videos i think... 🤔 u installed an after market shift selector from jfg racing with the blue and chrome. I recently purchased one also, but attempting to install and tighten it up, for some reason it was still wobbly and to much play! also with some jiggily around of the shifter by hand, the metal shim with splines slid out causing the shifter to fall off 😱 is there a trick to getting it tight or does it stay loose like that?

I see your cluster is SLIGHTLY tilted. Mine was too and i thought it was my bracket but it looks as if it might be in the mold used to make the cluster. What i did is loosen the bracket mounting bolts and stick 2 lock washers under the Port side of the bracket. The cluster is now level.....
+mjstef71 Funny you mention that, I just straightened it out this morning, elongated the holes where it mounts to the tripletree and used 2 washers on the right hole and a nut and 2 washers on the left, its perfect!! I took some photos to add to my next video...
Should it have came with all of the wires that you’re supposed to run through for the gear shift indicator? Or are you supposed to unplug the pens at the factory wiring harness and then run them through the rubber grommet?
i bought this exact speedometer for my hawk 250 and very confused with the wiring set up , is there different versions of this speedometer because amazon is just giving me all the same ones

Hey Moto I have a question maybe you can answer. My buddy was trying to install a Hawk digital dash on my 2023 TBR7 and it wouldn’t work. He unplugged the colored wires from the gear indicator plug when he took off the original. I’m trying to put the old one back on and he’s having trouble figuring out which go where and now my neutral 1st 2nd gear etc. aren’t showing up. Any idea on where I can find the color diagram to get it back to how it was before he messed it up I can’t find the diagram anywhere and now I’m bummed lol. Any help in the direction that might work would be greatly appreciated
The book that came with the TBR should have the schematic, I don't think I have a book still. But you can plug one wire in at a time to where it goes to the gauge from the shift selector and do one at a time there if you put it in first gear and then you go through all the wires cuz it only shorts to ground to light up the indicator If it's the same as the Hawk I don't remember

Seems to be a lot of work, mine came with the digital dash and alarm already (bashan shark 250) but it does not have any fuel gauge or low fuel indicator. I know I can drive 200 miles before reserve so I write down the millage when I fill up the tank.
sorry to constantly ask you but you seem to be the most knowledgeable, my brake light is not working as the rear lighting wires under came loose for turn signal and licenseplate lights ect. i plugged everything in everything works except the brake light any idea which wires i could be mixing up?

I'll wait for Matt to respond on this one - there's only 1 blue/white wire in those harnesses so I don't believe there's another one that can be tapped for the tach.

motocheez I need help.. my bike wont crank up it'll just make like a little clicking noise so I put it on battery charger over night , and still wouldn't crank up and I tried kick start and it started up what could be wrong?

Griffen Finnegan my son's gas tank wasn't working when we first got it, ended up being a wire behind the headlight. , could also be the connection under the tank.

I keep hearing rumors of a 150CC Dual Sport coming out that is similar in height to the old Yamaha DT80's and it would sell like wildfire if someone would get it done!! I just installed the Digital Cluster on a brand new Hawk (purchased 6/2018). Everything is working great EXCEPT for the tachometer. I used the wire splice at first (to the blue/white wire, as spelled out in the instructions), then took the splice off and soldered the wires directly. No dice. Tach needle doesn't move when the engine is throttled (it DOES move during the initialization phase, so I know it's not a stuck/bad tach needle). Does anyone know if the newer Hawk models (2017 and up) need to be spliced into a different wire for the tachometer to work? Or do I potentially have a defective unit (speedometer, odo, gear shifting, etc. all work great)?
No. I haven't looked into that for in a while, I've heard people mention it a few times recently though. They used to be good for high current bust but not long cranking. A capacitor is essentially a battery with different materials as plates etc (wrapped).
@@MotoCheez yes I use 3 batteries and a super capacitor in my explorer, I just need a high output alternator, so anyway my super capacitor is a group 34 and it ways 11lbs, if I can find can find 1 small enough I'd replace the battery in my hawk, I've already removed the airbox, the new carb I installed has no name, the jets I bought are too small, I do notice it being snappier thou with it's stock jet, I asked what jets fit this on amazon no reply yet, I'm getting my exhaust and sprocket on Wednesday, I already have the chain and the 17 tooth sprocket, will install next Saturday I think, will post results, check out my channel
I don't understand what you mean, are you talking about the harness that comes from the gauge with the wires on it? That should definitely come with the gauge If not you better call the company that you got it from and have them send it to you
The stock carburetors tamper-proof so you'd have to put slots in the screw heads to take it apart but they're basically the same carburetor the mikuni probably has a little better build. And your claims that it does give you a little more power I've never witnessed at myself. It's easy to get to the carb on a hawk
Did you keep the star carburetor modifying and after cut grooves into the tamper-proof screws to get the bowl off. You raise the jet up to give it more fuel because they come very lean and it gives you more power raising the jet size up a little
Thanks and another question if you can, I got the hawk yesterday but i cant seem to get it to idle at low rpms and the bike seems to hang when I give it throttleI adjusted the side phillips screw on the side doesn't do much I tried messing with the mixture screw but I don't know how much turns i need to have it out. thanks man your videos made me want buy one. +Modesto Rodriguez look for my carb tune video, the idle does that because it's too lean. There's a plug you remove to get to the mixture screw. The big or hesitation is because the main jet is also lean. You can either modify your carb or buy an aftermarket mikuni. But either way you have to change the main jet

so i got a few issues this is the second gas tank i have gone tru it keeps leaking the first one somehow got a crack in it and the second one is not leaking on the weld where the petcock go are you having any issues at all like this?
no the new tanks did not come with the petcock or the gastank floater i had to install them from the old tank so when i put the new tank on it was on for 3 weeks and then 2 days ago it just started to leak and i took it off to see where it was from and its was leaking threw the weld that comes from the tank and the part hanging out for the petcock i called the place i got it from and they want both tanks and they will give me another one lol i have been having alot of issues with this bike man from missing parts to horn braking mirrors wobble cant tighten them anymore to missing a neutral sensor speedometer spasses out to the chain tentighner stripping to one of my spoked wont tighten :(
+johnporter jp sounds like your bike was built on a Friday!! Sorry to hear of all the issues. Of all the bikes I purchased I've had no major issues besides listening bolts and one flat tire. Actually one of them the exhaust stud broke on when we did the Nepaug ride. Had to tighten the other one enough to seal until we got home. Like I said originally. They need to be tinkered with and are from China. But for the price one has to determine if it's right for them. Sad when you hear that many issues that you're having though. :(
MotoCheez I got a 2017 bashan BSR 250 Is just like your hawk I was trying to find out the output on this alternator I'm running a phone charger and 2, 18 watt led flood lights so far so good

I have some news It is looking like the rps I have is going to be put to death by the insurance company my dad goes through with the add-ons he made they might save the bike but without those taken into account they totaled the bike so chances are a upgraded cluster and title registration is not going to save it.
From what I can tell they look pretty much the same. Thanks though. Maybe I'll get one anyway and hope for the best. I haven't seen anything else nowhere close

What's a speedo healer? Sprocket combo depends on how you ride, if you want more speed on the road, yes change

I had the same thing happen. The tank welds are horrible.

It's probably set for a 4 cylinder, you have to find the setting that will set it to single cylinder

It was not from the cluster. It was hitting the key frame. Found it while leveling out the gauges. I hate how they lopsided

You just have to plug the new pins into the stock plug for the gear indicator.

I’ve gone on Taos site and they have no info on the color pattern and where they go in the plugs also checked China riders and still no luck.

+Alex Abadi +Alex Abadi does the alarm drain your battery when stored a while? I have one on my ZX10R and it kills the battery in about a month.

sorry to constantly ask you but you seem to be the most knowledgeable, my brake light is not working as the rear lighting wires under came loose for turn signal and licenseplate lights ect. i plugged everything in everything works except the brake light any idea which wires i could be mixing up?
Griffen Finnegan Did they ever work? the rear switch by pedal is usually out of adjustment. did you try the front brake too?
MotoCheez always worked till last i checked. front brake aswell does not get the light.

The tach wire goes to the coil puls wire, so IF that is the same wire that goes to the coil, it may be a defective unit.
I'll wait for Matt to respond on this one - there's only 1 blue/white wire in those harnesses so I don't believe there's another one that can be tapped for the tach.
this is a long time ago but what was vibrating inside? I still have a cluster I haven't put on
It was my fault. Was vibrating against bracket.

What was the cost on the digital cluster? and if I don't wanna go that way, you know of where I can go to order a new speedo cable. just got the bike and previous owner broke it by snaging it on the horn

How do you adjust the mileage on the odometer? I assume the mileage is zero on cluster when it arrives.
You cant. Just have to note mileage on old odometer and add it to the new one.

motocheez I need help.. my bike wont crank up it'll just make like a little clicking noise so I put it on battery charger over night , and still wouldn't crank up and I tried kick start and it started up what could be wrong?
Replace your battery. It's your starter solenoid you can hear.
Charging a failed battery (with a dead call) won't help.

I keep hearing rumors of a 150CC Dual Sport coming out that is similar in height to the old Yamaha DT80's and it would sell like wildfire if someone would get it done!! Their are a LOT of short ladies that are left out of the fun, 3 in my household alone all under 5'5" that couldn't even tippy toe a Hawk!

I have not checked that site yet, I will now. I thought you had said you already purchased a shock which is why I was asking for specs. I can't seem to find a compatible one.
I just installed the Digital Cluster on a brand new Hawk (purchased 6/2018). Everything is working great EXCEPT for the tachometer. I used the wire splice at first (to the blue/white wire, as spelled out in the instructions), then took the splice off and soldered the wires directly. No dice. Tach needle doesn't move when the engine is throttled (it DOES move during the initialization phase, so I know it's not a stuck/bad tach needle).
Does anyone know if the newer Hawk models (2017 and up) need to be spliced into a different wire for the tachometer to work? Or do I potentially have a defective unit (speedometer, odo, gear shifting, etc. all work great)?

No. I haven't looked into that for in a while, I've heard people mention it a few times recently though.
They used to be good for high current bust but not long cranking.
A capacitor is essentially a battery with different materials as plates etc (wrapped).
@@MotoCheez yes I use 3 batteries and a super capacitor in my explorer, I just need a high output alternator, so anyway my super capacitor is a group 34 and it ways 11lbs, if I can find can find 1 small enough I'd replace the battery in my hawk, I've already removed the airbox, the new carb I installed has no name, the jets I bought are too small, I do notice it being snappier thou with it's stock jet, I asked what jets fit this on amazon no reply yet, I'm getting my exhaust and sprocket on Wednesday, I already have the chain and the 17 tooth sprocket, will install next Saturday I think, will post results, check out my channel

What does the mikuni carburetor do is it better than the stock will I need a drummer for installation
The stock carburetors tamper-proof so you'd have to put slots in the screw heads to take it apart but they're basically the same carburetor the mikuni probably has a little better build. And your claims that it does give you a little more power I've never witnessed at myself. It's easy to get to the carb on a hawk

Did you keep the star carburetor modifying and after cut grooves into the tamper-proof screws to get the bowl off. You raise the jet up to give it more fuel because they come very lean and it gives you more power raising the jet size up a little

Thanks and another question if you can, I got the hawk yesterday but i cant seem to get it to idle at low rpms and the bike seems to hang when I give it throttleI adjusted the side phillips screw on the side doesn't do much I tried messing with the mixture screw but I don't know how much turns i need to have it out. thanks man your videos made me want buy one. +Modesto Rodriguez look for my carb tune video, the idle does that because it's too lean. There's a plug you remove to get to the mixture screw. The big or hesitation is because the main jet is also lean. You can either modify your carb or buy an aftermarket mikuni. But either way you have to change the main jet

so i got a few issues this is the second gas tank i have gone tru it keeps leaking the first one somehow got a crack in it and the second one is not leaking on the weld where the petcock go are you having any issues at all like this?

no the new tanks did not come with the petcock or the gastank floater i had to install them from the old tank so when i put the new tank on it was on for 3 weeks and then 2 days ago it just started to leak and i took it off to see where it was from and its was leaking threw the weld that comes from the tank and the part hanging out for the petcock i called the place i got it from and they want both tanks and they will give me another one lol i have been having alot of issues with this bike man from missing parts to horn braking mirrors wobble cant tighten them anymore to missing a neutral sensor speedometer spasses out to the chain tentighner stripping to one of my spoked wont tighten :(
+johnporter jp sounds like your bike was built on a Friday!! Sorry to hear of all the issues. Of all the bikes I purchased I've had no major issues besides listening bolts and one flat tire. Actually one of them the exhaust stud broke on when we did the Nepaug ride. Had to tighten the other one enough to seal until we got home. Like I said originally. They need to be tinkered with and are from China. But for the price one has to determine if it's right for them. Sad when you hear that many issues that you're having though. :(

I have some news It is looking like the rps I have is going to be put to death by the insurance company my dad goes through with the add-ons he made they might save the bike but without those taken into account they totaled the bike so chances are a upgraded cluster and title registration is not going to save it.
