hi loves! I've been doing research on silicones and I'm learning so much more about wavy & curly hair health. Moroccan Oil products contain dimethicone (a popular silicone). This can build up so you have to make sure you use a clarifying shampoo with sulfate to reset your hair!
I tried going silicone free to see what works best for my hair. But my hair felt much worse and got tangled so easily. I’ve tried a variety of different products and Moroccan Oil still works best for me! Also, a lot of different things can build up in your hair as well so we should all be clarifying anyway :)

When I was around 11 years I recognized that when I shower those waves/ curls appear but I didn’t really do something to that because I wasn’t used to doing something else then JUST brushing it. That's normal! Most wavies and curlies have different curl patterns. I'm a mixture of 2b and 2c curls but I definitely have straighter bits too. I just try and treat them the same way as the other hair. Put the product in and scrunch. Sometimes I try and scrunch those more. Some people like training the straighter bits by using brushes like denman brush to form the curl. Sorry for the long comment!

    commonly asked questions:
*when do I brush my hair?*
    • I brush it in the shower with a wet brush while my conditioner is in so it slips right through and there’s minimal damage :)
*is your routine still the same?*
    • my routine is still the same except I don’t use the hydrating styling cream anymore, I find the curl one works better!
    • I also use more product than before. Not too much but a full pump of each product for both sides of my hair
    • I use a clarifying shampoo (with sulfate) once a month to get rid of any buildup from silicones
    • I use a microfiber towel to dry my hair now
    • I sleep on a silk pillowcase (better for face and skin bc it’s anti-bacterial)

Wow, you have such a similair story to me. I would always brush my hair and it would always be super frizzy. But I didn't know that I had such curls ( the same curls as you ). So last week I went to the hairdresser to get a trim and bangs and she said that my hair was actually pretty curly. So she blowdried ( with a diffuser ) my hair and put some cream in it and scrunched it up. Now I have my real curls.

Hey girl we got the same hair type! We definitely don’t have the driest hair type, but Ive tried the Moroccan line and I’ve found that it really dries my hair out, and the conditioner contains silicone which made my hair dull and created a lot of split ends. Try using a shampoo with no suds and a conditioner with no silicone! However, my scalp is EXTREMELY DRY and it never seems to get oily or loose volume so just keep that in mind.
I use the devacurl no poo cleanser and the one condition original conditioner. I also don’t rinse my conditioner out. For hold I love the arc angel gel from deva curl. I live in a super high humidity area and frizz is definitely something I deal with a everyday. The gel definitely helps with frizz though!

Madisyn Jade Madisyn Jade I think my hair is longer than hers. I have a lot of it too. I’m decently tall and it goes all the way down my back. I’d say it’s maybe five inches from being able to sit on it lol. This method didn’t work for me sadly. Ive learned that my hair doesn’t like oils very much. The best product combo I have found it Curls Blueberry Bliss leave in conditioner, devacurl wavemaker, and ecoslay orange marmalade. The first two products shouldn’t be too much, like quarter size maximum, or else our hair will get weighed down because it’s so long. The orange marmalade gel can be used heavily. It’s the only gel that is strong enough to actually make a cast form on my hair. Like it gets CRUNCHY. But, all you have to do is scrunch it out once it’s completely dry and it’s totally soft! @wavycurly on Instagram has great methods for her long, wavy hair! The routine I just described is from her. Also I’d recommend to check out the other wavy/curly accounts she mentions! And seriously, the orange marmalade is AMAZING! I hope this helps! You will find a routine that works for you!

My hair is honestly weird... When I wash it, my curls are about 2c like you. Then, if I don't wash my hair for a few days, it just loses it's natural curl and becomes kind of frizzy/ wavy. Also, something I struggle with is I do a routine so my hair has definition and has lots of volume, but it just turns out to be a frizzy mess. Do you know anything that can fix this?

Yeah my hair gets less defined over time after washing it but a solution could be using a strong hold gel. Also for volume u can put all the defining products towards the middle and ends of ur hair, but put something lightweight like mousse near ur roots

I know you are now concerned with using the Moroccan Oil line due to silicones, but your hair looks very healthy and pretty! I’ve been using the CGM for 3 years and honestly, I feel that if silicones work for you and you’re happy with how your hair looks, you shouldn’t feel pressured to stop using them just because the CGM avoids them. I would suggest avoiding silicones for those that are trying to improve their hair and just starting the CGM. Your hair is beautiful! 😊

I’m a guy , as a kid I had massive curls , and then I went for short hairstyles which didn’t need much maintenance , and every time my hair grew , it looked awful, dry , frizzy , all over the place.
Recently I started taking care of my hair , treated it as straight hair and it didn’t want to listen to me, ordered some Moroccan oil products after watching your videos and hoping to have some better results with my natural wavy hair.

I remember i always wondered why my hair looks so wavy wet but by the time it dried it was more straight with a few strands of wavy/curly. I definitely have not been helping it live it's full potential, im so excited to see what it really looks like.

My hair is somewhere between 2a and 2b, it used to be straight when I was little. Until I was about 12 then it turned into a big, frizzy, mess. I didn’t really know my hair was wavy until a couple years ago. I used to straighten it A LOT, when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school. Just to get rid of the all the volume and frizz. I hate wavy/curly hair, it’s such a pain in the butt to deal with. 🥺

  • @irairod5160
    @irairod5160 4 ปีที่แล้ว

My hair is wavy (2b), thin, of average density, and neither dry nor oily. It's not color treated. It gets over-moisturized and limp easily so everything I use is very lightweight. I can go about 4 days before I start wondering if I should wash it. I use a hair mask once a month and Olaplex No. 3 every 4 to 6 weeks, and that's enough for me. Thank you for sharing your routine, your hair is looking healthy.

Sounds like it might be damaged. It might need a cut. Or, you can try scrunching in some hair gel. If you’re desperate, just grab some mens hair gel and add some every ten minutes or so, as well as scrunching. That could help with the frizz.

I have nearly this exact same hair type omg! I've had all the same issues as you except my hair started falling out rapidly due to lack of iron in my body, not from bleaching or hair alteration (I'm thinking about balayage but I also love my natural brown color and am scared to use bleach bc it's already so dry). I'm almost 18 and for basically my whole life I've done little to no styling with my hair. I've probably straightened/used heat on my hair 4 - 5 times a year on average for the past 5 years. I have actually always hated blowing drying it because I'm impatient and it made it so frizzy unless I straightened afterwards. Last school year and summer I started noticing that it'd randomly have those 2b/2c curls with some pieces still in the 2a range lol ugh it's so awkward like that lol. When it was curly was also when it felt the healthiest and looked best on me, granted it was and still is dry sometimes. Definitely gonna give all this a try and start treating it like real wavy/curly hair. Yay!

I use the Moroccanoil curl defining cream and oil also. I do switch up now and then but have found it works well for me. I use a very hydrating leave in first, then add the curl cream on top, sometimes a lightweight gel over that and scrunch it out using a little bit of the oil on my ends. This has worked well for me and my hair is healthy

I have the same hair type, and I have a ton of it. It use to be much curlier but as I got into my 30s it's mostly wavy now. I prefer it over the tight curls cause it's much easier to handle . And I never liked using products in my hair, with tight curls I had too. Now I don't, I only use leave in conditioners with keratin it helps smooth out the frizz. I can't use any heat on my hair, it makes my hair so frizzy and tangles it. It literally looks like a birds nest when I'm done blow drying it, and what a mess it is. I started air drying 5 years ago and my hair is much healthier now.

Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous! 😍😍 I'd just be a bit wary with using too much oils on your hair. It can end up building up and coating your hair and repel water which can make your hair drier. I'd look up the Curly Girl Method which can give great advice for achieving amazing moisturised curls.
