I bought this game for mostly solo so appreciate the playthrough! You always post the best solo games.
Sidenote: Have you looked into Sky Team? It's a highly rated new cooperative game but apparently has a great solo variant.
I gave Sky Team a try on board game arena and I think I like the idea of it but I have yet to really play it well enough to know if I would like to get it as a physical copy. Do you think it’s a solo must?
Oh and thank you for your kind words!❤️
At 6:58 when you score a dog you need to add another dog to your pile straight away. So you should now have two at that point. Your next move 'Howl' would make your pile have 3 cards.
See Spots rulebook:
"For each dog card you scored this turn, draw the top card
of the dog deck and add it your pack, gray side up."
Thank you for pointing this out!! :)
This is an excellent game, both solo and with other players.
100% agreed!!
This is one I have been considering picking up and didn’t realize it had a solo mode. Thanks for sharing this!
Although it is push your luck, it seems that Spots has a bit more strategy than many push your luck games (at least based on a few plays on BGA). I like to try to collect multiple dog cards and treats near the start of the game so I can use Run for bigger turns later.
You’re welcome! I do agree about the strategy required in Spots! There are ways to optimize your turn that isn’t entirely luck based.
I found that these rules make it almost impossible to win (or maybe we're both just really unlucky). What I changed is: when the AI lands on a face down card, give them one treat instead of a whole dog card. Then at 2 treats they'll be able to trade them for a dog card. This doesn't make it too easy, but still fun to try and win!
Ooo, I definitely have to try this myself soon! THANK YOU for sharing your rule changes!
