Hi Corrin and Paul, another great vlog, wow what a place, loved the old station, and the snow! , was worried you wouldn't get out! Look forward to your next one. Conrad
Morning Conrad ! It was a beautiful place, the snow did start to fall a bit heavier than we thought, managed to get out and the tunnel shut a few hours later .. ❄️❄️🙂
Great video chaps. Came through north of Madrid a month ago. 4 " of snow and -8° at night. Spain is a wonderful panoply of seasons, and the trick is to be aware of what you may encounter. We always have 3 peak tyres as you just never know!!.
Good morning Neil ! Amazing scenery and variety of seasons in a short distance 👌 minus 8 is a bit nippy tho ! Tyres worked really well 🙂 , very impressive 🙂
Those Michelin tyres are amazing, I have them on my work transit and was recently in 6-8" of snow in Cumbria when everyone else was stuck, we where the only ones to get up a big long hill, and I have the BF Goodrich on the motorhome and they are even better, last year in Derbyshire again 6" or more snow was no problem.
Good morning ! Yes the tyres made a massive difference, really pleased with them, still carry chains just in case , but never needed yet , and a lot do have the BF make too, certainly a sound investment 👌🙂
The girls are loving the snow. It looks fabulous in the snow. Sam would have loved that. Blue skies when we were there a couple of days before you. The aire was fabulous.
Good evening Michaela ! The girls love a bounce around in the snow, makes them young again ! Imagine all 3 of them together 💖🐩🐩🐾🐾🐾 the aire did look nice, but was a little buried 😂 xx
Absolutely amazing how is look, but so surprising to see so much snow in Spain, and in Romania we don't have any snow. It's actually spring already here. Some days we have 18-20°. Crazy.
Good morning 💖 it was a beautiful visit, the snow was so scenic, but we didn’t expect it to snow that much ! ❄️❄️🥶 , and a few hours earlier we were in sunshine ! .. ☀️🇷🇴sun and warmth , that sounds lovely xx thanks for watching and commenting 💖
I was at Canfranc Station beginning of February, it has a very ugly past, if you go into the reception there is a brass plaque on the wall to the left which reads, Royal Canfranc Hotel where guests can check in and quietly disappear, this is a reference to when the Nazi Germans where escaping to south America, all of them that checked in never check out, they left with new identities, and the reason it is so long, the French trains couldn't run on the Spanish rails because of the different gauge and they could lift the whole train and change the bogies
Hi David ! That is really fascinating , thanks so much for sharing this information, we would’ve loved to have seen it pre renovation, in fact it was on tv last night with Michael Portillo on his travels , it showed the darker side of its history… amazing place 🙂
Wow young Redders's , that was epic , we came through yesterday , clear as a bell but you could see where it had been . We're now stuck in Oleron St Marie with a broken down van . However we've been recovered and they are repairing it tomorrow , ecr valve knacked . But what a beautiful place to break down . Loved this one and we're still enjoying it as we speak . Love from the broken down old Redders's xx.
Evening ole Redders ! So sorry to hear you have broken down, but sounds like you’re making the most of it ! 🙂 it was a beautiful visit during the snow, and an interesting drive 😮 but all was good 😊.. thanks once again, hope it’s a quick fix and you’re on the road home soon 🙂 safe travels, young Redders 😊
@redsgotravels booked in at local garage at nine . Three hour job they tell me and 631 euros but its fixable so who cares , these things happen . Take care young Redders's .
Good morning ole Redders ! ❤️ be nice to get it sorted and back mobile again I’m sure , as you say these things happen .. , all part of the package , stay safe and hopefully you’ll be on the road very soon ! 🙂👌 young Redders
Really enjoyed that. Lovely to see it in snow. Also 3 days before I had also watched Doctor Zhivago on the telly. Such dreadful memories on that connection. But as I told you b4 Canfranc was our hold out during covid either in the town or up the top on the Candanchu and Astan ski resort. Such a magnificent building and so glad that spain and the EU put the money in to bring it back to its glory days. I did glance at the menu and the prices were good when you take into account the venue. Once again a big thank you.
Hi Robert glad you enjoyed it ! What an amazing place, was a bit cold tho ! ❄️❄️🥶 would certainly go back , likely in the summer , so we can spend a bit more time there ! Thanks for sharing your experience, much appreciated 🙂💖
Beautiful! We went there before it was converted into the hotel, got some great photos when it was a ruin, we were able to go all round the ruins as well! Just had snow tyres fitted to our van because we’re off to Norway for three months, think we’ll leave them on all year as you have proved you can hit all sorts of weather! Love your vlogs, keep-up the travels 🥰
Yes seems Spains mountain laws seem more vague and depends upon where you are. When we crossed the Pyrenees in February from Carcassonne, through Foix and skirting Andorra I only recall seeing snow tyre signs in France and no idea where we crossed the border😀. Stunning scenery.
It’s a bit odd isn’t it , but yes, I recall seeing the sign on the French side , and it had specific dates when they should be fitted, I carry chains just in case , the tyres are good, but it’s still a heavy bus with only front wheel drive ! 🙂
Canfranc hotel/station definitely didn't disappoint, and what a transformation, fabulous, I know the snow makes driving a bit more of a challenge but worth it in my humble opinion, we've been to places deliberately in the winter and for me canfranc is one of those places, tyres are worth every penny in them conditions as well, anyway another enjoyable vlog keep them coming 👍
Morning Stephen ! 🙂 an amazing stop, beautiful… and for sure , the tyres made a huge difference, really impressed with them , and worth it, although I must admit it did begin to fall a bit heavier than expected ! Hence the tunnel closure a few hours after we left ! 🙂
Wow how well did Redders drive through that snow...Big hats off. We do wonder who has the biggest ..lls though as Corinne didn't flinch once on camera. Seriously impressed guys. I'm looking to change out my tyres this year and a clear explanation of how you came to fit yours would be very helpful.
😂 hi Steve, much appreciated, all season tyres with snow capability are mandatory in certain areas, or if not fitted, carrying snow chains / socks and fitting when directed … a real pain .. we have Michelin agilis all season, a really smooth ride due to lower inflation pressure ( 65 psi ) on our van, and great grip ( I was very happy ) got mine from ATS ,discounted and on offer , £640 all in , and a free fitness watch that I sold on eBay ! 👍❄️❄️🥶
Wow, I'm a bit of a train station geek and I've seen a French tele documentary about CanFranc that was super. It's not that far from where we live and I can't believe we haven't been there but we certainly will be going to visit it soon. Thanks for reminding of its existence 😊
That station is absolutely stunning, thanks for sharing. The "Loi Montagne" Mountain law introduced in France in winter 2021 requires snow socks, chains or winter tyres to be fitted to all cars, motorhomes, and other vehicles in France's mountainous regions. For the moment All Season tyres are also accepted if they have the 3PMSF and/or the 3 peaks logos. I'm not so sure if only labelled M+S or the french B+N, The fine for non compliance is €135. I can't find anything that says you need both chains and winter tyres but as you say the chains are not expensive and an extra safeguard should you need it. Stay safe,
It is amazing isn’t it ! The law does vary between countries, we have the 3 peak tyres, but carry chains as they can come in handy if the tyres do slip a little, but they did very well , Spain does have a slightly heftier fine, but as long as you have the snow tyres that’s good 🙂 glad you enjoyed the vlog 💖
Wish I was up there. We have had really weird weather here in the south for weeks, massive cold winds, raining today and I can’t remember ever, wearing my jacket for so long. Happy days ❤❤❤❤
Hi Linda ! How disappointing is that ! 🌧️🌧️ the snow was beautiful, albeit a bit chilly ! The snow ploughs worked hard and allowed us to get out before they finally shut the tunnel ❤️❤️
Great videos guys. Blimey that was a bit hairy, we were on the edge of our sofa! Good demonstration for the tyres too. My only quandary is the difference between yours and the CP version?
Hi Andy ! I’m not sure if the CP are snow rated ? … we had cp previously and I can’t remember sorry, but the main difference for us and certainly improved ride is that the agilis all season are 65 psi, the vanco are 80 psi ( may differ from van to van ) up the ride is much softer ! Such an amazing visit 🙂❄️❄️
Oh my life that was a hairy drive through the snowy mountains, you guys did so well! The station was stunning, really interesting how much they have transformed it, it would be amazing to stay there x I think we would love to see this area but not in the snow, but what beautiful scenery, it looked like Christmas! Thanks for a brilliant vlog and really sound information on the snow chains, lots of love Julia and Gary ❤💕
Aww thank you guys 💖 we will certainly be going back, and definitely when it’s a bit warmer , so we can stay longer 🙂💖 a very beautiful place indeed xx
Scary drive to get out well done I must admit I’m not a fan of driving in the snow we are sat here in the new to us van watching you guys on TH-cam keep them vlogs coming cheers martin and Jude 😊👍🥃🥃
Hi Guys ! Hope you are enjoying the van ! 🥰 in all fairness, the tyres were really good, made life a lot easier on the white stuff ❄️❄️ but what a beautiful place 💖❤️ thanks so much for watching and commenting 🙂
OMG I was worried watching never mind driving in those conditions. I was stressed just watching. Not sure where the tunnel was but at least you were prepared and drove sensible and safely. Not for me though. What an adventure.
Good evening ! 💖 it was so beautiful there , so worth the stop, the conditions did get worse, we left just in time and our cross climate tyres really made a difference 🙂
Great stuff if you do go to Canfranc again as you drive down and pass the hotel right at bottom large purpose built motorhome park water and electric not available when we were there last year Spanish thing you know maybe it will happen one day Anyway safe travels 👍👍🐾🐾
Good morning ❤️ we will definitely return , and it’ll be in the warmer season so we can stay at the aire and enjoy the area a little longer, we loved the scenery and beauty of the snow , but will look the aire up next time , thanks so much for the info ! 🙂
Hi guys! That's a good lot of snow you got there! Reminded us of our Christmas this year in the Cairngorms. ❄️❄️👍. I can only think that the station is so big/ long as the trains could off load all passengers onto the platform from each carriage, rather then passengers needing to walk down the carriages to the front of the train that was stopped on the platform? 🤷 A lovely price of architecture whatever the reason and great to see it's been restored rather than left to crumble👍. Your tyres seem to be performing well, are they Michelin agilis cross country? Take care guys, looking forward to the next one. Colin, Carol & 'Joy' 👩🦲👩🦳🐕🚐🙂👍
Good evening guys ! 💖 it was an amazing place, so much history there, the snow was a bonus, but also a challenge! But we have the Michelin Agilis cross climate which did very well ! ❄️❄️🥶 x
@@redsgotravelsCarol has made a note of the area for a future visit when we first venture across the water in our van. I meant 'cross climates' but the old fat finger syndrome seems to have flared up again 😁. We have them fitted to the patient transport ambulances I work on, although we've yet to see a flake of snow fall on Cambridge this winter/spring.....better to be safe than sorry 🙂👍. We'll be watching tonight's episode soon. Keep up the great videos 🙂👍
WOW this was one epic visit wasn't it!!!😱 And that Railway Station 🚉 Unbelievable ive seen this on a Documentary channel before about the Germans!! Can't believe what a transformation this has turned into!!😃👌🏻👍🏻 Absolutely Couldn't believe what I was watching especially with the Snow!!❄️🥶😱👌🏻👍🏻
@redsgotravels Yeah the Reders done we'll & he was right to say that it would be ok but when you joined that slip road for the motorway it seriously looked iffy!!😱🥶❄️ But all was well in the end!!👌🏻👍🏻😃
Oh! You messed with my head there 🤦🏻♀️ We have friends in Spain who are sunbathing outside their Moho and you look like you’re in the Cairngorms 😱 I had to look up Canfranc then I understood! It’s on a level with Andorra 👍🏻 It’s about 25 years since we were there 😂 Well done Paul! cracking ice road trucking ❄️ However, you are in super comfort, rather than that Disco with a roof tent that you passed 😉 Safe travels ❤
Good morning guys ! 💖 it really is all the seasons in one day , but what a beautiful visit it was , such amazing scenery, which we fancy going back to, but probably in the warmer months 🥶 , so we can stay a bit longer and enjoy 😊 . At least we had the heating on to go back to 👌 , roof tents 🥶🥶❄️ and to be fair the tyres worked really well in the snow, it’s the sand I struggle with 🤭😂😂 safe travels guys ! ❤️
Hi lovelies wow amazing snow scenes 😍 stunning ! That station hotel wow!! Wouldn’t mind staying in there ! We need to get some new shoes for our Motorhome will defo be buying all terrain ones !!! Still the journey looked a little hairy at times 😳 doggies loved it though 😃 great video loved seeing all that snow !! ❄️ ❤ xxx
Hi Guys ! It was beautiful, but a bit cold 🥶, worth the effort tho ! The tyres did work really well, was a bit slippy , but very impressed 🙂 would certainly go back , but in the summer 🙂☀️
That was a wow moment for you guys. And a bit scary too. Good decision in the end to get going. Incredible scenery! Do you know if it’s a legal requirement to have four season tyres in that region or can you get away with just carrying snow chains and having normal tyres?
Good evening ! 💖 yes, it’s a choice you have, it’s either all season tyres and no necessity to fit snow chains in the mountain regions , or if you don’t have the all season tyres, you need to have snow chains ready to fit when directed , here’s a quote from the web .. “Although it is not mandatory to carry snow chains in vehicles in Spain, they should always be used when the R-412 sign is displayed on a road, unless the car already has winter or all-season tyres. Failure to do so could result in a fine of 200 euros” In all fairness tho, the tyres did really well ! Hope that helps 🙂
Lovely vlog. What a fantastic building that station / hotel is. Question. Which all terrain tyres do you have the bfg's or the Michelin. All weather all terrain. "Agillas"?
👍 great.... I had 6 put on genny... not tried them in the snow... but been great across all the muddy fields. So great to know they are good in the snow.....
Some nice shots there Redders’s. Smart 👀 station. I do. Like a nice bit of architecture. That poor whippet in the pink thong. 😱😂 Hounds coping well, woolly backs!
Another great video. Is it possible at the start of your next one just to do 5 seconds on the make and model of tyre you've got as seeing them work in those conditions was a great selling point ....... Are you on commission 😂😂😂😂 Also what the route down from the pyrenees was like (regardless of snow) in comparison with going up on the spanish side as I fancy coming back that way in the summer
Good evening ! Thanks for watching, to be honest the tyres worked really well, they are Michelin agilis cross climate , also known as the all season road tyre , there are often offers on them too , not on commission 😂 but that would be a nice sponsor for sure 🤔😂 safe travels !
So glad i subscribed your channel such great vlogs guys. What a station Building / Hotel. Even with the all season tyres and snow chains on board you are a braver guy than me Redders. Well done in carrying on regardless - British Bulldog in you my friend - even if you are a Welshy. My better half is originally from Swansea. We plan to an initial tour with our first MH around Penbrokeshire. We love Saundersfoot Broadhaven and Newgale areas. Good luck on onwards travels through France. Fingers crossed the white stuff disappears.
Hi Graham ! Thank-you ! 💖 nice to have you along too ! Pembrokeshire is lovely, a little bit of white stuff on the hills, but nowhere like Canfranc , quite a drive, but the tyres were amazing … ! Safe travels and enjoy wales 🏴 xx

@redsgotravels Yeah the Reders done we'll & he was right to say that it would be ok but when you joined that slip road for the motorway it seriously looked iffy!!😱🥶❄️ But all was well in the end!!👌🏻👍🏻😃
😂 yup, once I said it’s ok, well, it has to be ! 😬 the tyres did really well in all fairness, and the driver, well .. 😎 awesome😂😂
Hi brilliant video but you do not need snow chains and winter tyres its one or the other..
Hi Kevin, thanks for clarifying, much appreciated.. the tyres were brill.. 👌🙂
Going that way ourselves in 10 days so good info.
Safe travels buddy , amazing place, been told the snow has cleared now , but it does come and go quite quickly 🙂
☃️❄️❄️❄️🏂😁 We need to see some ☀️ 🫶👍
Hi Matt ! Yes , some sun is much needed 👌☀️☀️ that’s enough of the white stuff 🥶❄️❄️
Think I'll stay where I am in Costa blanca 😅😅😅
😂 I don’t blame you ! 🇪🇸🇪🇸☀️☀️❤️
Failure to do so could result in a fine of 200 euros”
In all fairness tho, the tyres did really well ! Hope that helps 🙂
@@redsgotravels that’s brilliant. Thanks so much. And safe onward journey.
We’re really enjoying following along with you guys.
@NBNatureTrailvan ❤️ Thankyou so much 🥰 glad to have you along for the ride 🙂
Lovely vlog. What a fantastic building that station / hotel is. Question. Which all terrain tyres do you have the bfg's or the Michelin. All weather all terrain. "Agillas"?
Thankyou ! We have the Michelin Agilis all season , really good ! ❄️❄️❤️
👍 great.... I had 6 put on genny... not tried them in the snow... but been great across all the muddy fields. So great to know they are good in the snow.....
Great choice 👍 safe travels ❤️
Some nice shots there Redders’s. Smart 👀 station. I do. Like a nice bit of architecture. That poor whippet in the pink thong. 😱😂 Hounds coping well, woolly backs!
Thanks Howard ! Yes, our two lamas fair quite nicely in the snow, the poor whippet had its knees knocking bless it 🥶 but what a beautiful place 💖
So surprised the girls don’t have coats on 😢
We did get caught out, the princesses have quite a wardrobe, we went back to a heated van for cake and treats xx 💖🐩🐩🐾🐾
Another great video.
Is it possible at the start of your next one just to do 5 seconds on the make and model of tyre you've got as seeing them work in those conditions was a great selling point .......
Are you on commission 😂😂😂😂
Also what the route down from the pyrenees was like (regardless of snow) in comparison with going up on the spanish side as I fancy coming back that way in the summer
Good evening ! Thanks for watching, to be honest the tyres worked really well, they are Michelin agilis cross climate , also known as the all season road tyre , there are often offers on them too , not on commission 😂 but that would be a nice sponsor for sure 🤔😂 safe travels !
Good evening. Where’s all the ☀️ gone. 😂
Hope you’ve counted your 90 days correctly. Don’t want to get banned and have to stay in Britain 🌧️
🥶❄️😊was a bit cold for sure Craig ! Yes, we are safe with Schengen thankfully , and looking for the ☀️.. what a terrible thought stuck in Britain 😂
