Great old boiler. Must be over 20 years old. Certainly got their money's worth out of it, but its from a time when Vaillant built decent boilers. I had the Sine which was the forerunner to this. Advanced for its time, but an over complicated nightmare to fix. Now have the later Turbomax Plus. Best boiler ever. Easy to fix, simple and bullet proof. 14 years old now - hoping for another 10 years. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I'm learning all the time from them.
The sine 18 was 2 models before the Turbomax!! After the Sine was the Combicompact and then the Turbomax. I like fixing the Combicompact because customers cant believe an engineer actually knows how it works!!! My mother in law had a Sine 18 and replaced it for a junior in 2004. Vaillant made exceptional boilers but it isn't a viable business model anymore. Im sure someone will make a Roles Royce soon!!!
Hello brother thanks very much for helping heating engineers. I was doing mainly install for years but now due to life threat accident at work, I'm planning to do services and repairs. Your videos are very educational and thanking you for doing it. Thanks
Great Video, been a gas engineer 8 yrs now and want to get into breakdowns I've got enough experience to change and part but just can do the diagnosis. I've just Subscribed and I think your channel is going to help me massively. Keep up the good work.
Another great vid 👌🏻 eve though it wasn't the cause this time it was definitely worth you taking out the board and checking for a fuse cap, I've had that happen before. Fuse cap causing a two pins to intermittently arc , leaving a lovely burn mark on the Pcb,
Electrics mate ! Get some rest....this plumbing game is only gonna get busier now till the new year...keep your fingers X for the beast from the East again ! Great work keep it up .. If your ever over west London way let me know I run a firm over this way.
HeatingGeek I’m in Ealing west London .. so cover.. Ealing Acton Hampstead Chiswick Hammersmith most in between but don’t do North as I leave that for you ! Do stacks of breakdowns, stacks of powerflushes (3 this week) and loads of servicing. 1 visit 1 fix no return trips is my mantra ! That and “ no problems just solutions to those problems” been a while since I’ve seen someone with your abilities.
Ive got a turbomax with a blown fuse on the right hand side of the pcb .. I am going back this morning to change it and see if thing will fire up. Any ideas why that fuse of the the two (other on left side) would have blown .. I am looking at the Installation manula now and googling. I love your vids mate and you said there was talk of training days .. get on it mate
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. im not sure what fuse does what TBH. I know they have one on the L and one on the N on this boiler. Usually the pump or fan will be the issue but the big green resistor can fail on the PCB and blow fuse. Let me know how you got on. :-)
@@HeatingGeek I changed the fuse and powered it up but no fan no pump and a wierd rattling noise that sounded like the gas valve was stuck. I didnt have time to hang about but i think its going to be a new boiler tbh .. thanks for the reply
Look like when someone changed out the old room stat they didn't realise the new stat did not require a neutral, unlike the old types which had an accelerator resistor!
Just made a mistake. I can't remember the room stat issue in this video and never rewatch them. I think the bent pin would of caused this issue though.
The resistor is common to both this model and the Turbomax Plus. I dod check it. The fault was the bent pin on this board. The customer kept me informed. :-)
Great eye for detail, well done spotting that pin. when you check a components resistance what is the reason you convert ohms to amps ? love the channel btw thanks.

Watched this 5 times. Really informative, to the pont, very educational. Top marks to you man.
Thanks!!! Just got home from Wimbledon very long day 68Gig of footage!
Loved this one / being an electrician and going into gas I really appreciate your work/videos,
Thanks :-)
It’s great we can see everything that’s going on and get a logical path for fault finding.
If I honest its a pain in the ass to film though!!
Hopefully it will become more natural soon.

These posts are bloody brilliant. Nice one.
Thanks. Keep watching!! :-)

why the fuse glass exploded ?
they don't usually !!!!
could be a dodgy fuse?????
Maybe. I didnt find anything else wrong with the boiler.
Love those boilers. Had A Few diverters go and few switches above the pump. Can't remember what they're called
Thats the pressure differential. Now a days they are getting blocked in the diverter.
HeatingGeek 👍
What's the make of tool roll bag you take on scooter
I will let you know tomorrow. Its very good and hasn't ripped (Yet).
It wasn't the cheapest though.
Ok cheers just looking to buy one rather than hugging big bag around
Here is a link to it on amazon. Im not sure if it will work im not the most computer savvy.

Great vid! Can you do a video of your tool kit you take in for fault finding
I will. Its just basic stuff though. I will do it soon!
You often get a blown resistor on these boards. 50p for a pack of ten or £100 + for a new board.
The resistor is common to both this model and the Turbomax Plus. I dod check it. The fault was the bent pin on this board. The customer kept me informed. :-)
Very informative on resistance of components, thanks for the video. 👍👍👍
Thanks. I skimmed over it a bit but will do a more in depth video soon.
Another good video" we need to get you a camera.
The cheek! ;-) I have a Gopro now. I'm just trying to learn how to use it.
They are good boilers
Great eye for detail, well done spotting that pin.

Probably just to make engineers aware of the relationship. :-)
Thanks For watching.:-)
👍👌
Thanks!! :-)
Am enjoying ur vids mate 🎩
Can i be your camera man ?😁
I could defiantly do with one.!!!
