- Much needed chain and sprocket change on the little makita 18v battery pruning saw / mini chainsaw. The chain it comes supplied with is a bit too big and aggressive and doesn't leave a clean cut when pruning shrubs or trees, so we are swapping it out for a much smaller chain which cuts fantastic and is a lot smoother.

I'm a nurse its 2:00 in the morning and I've never used a chainsaw BUT if I ever need to change the chain on a makita I now know. Enjoyed the vid

Search for panther mini conversion kit on there, it comes with all you need.

You put the new chain on the original bar?
Yep, its same size groove, plus the bar doesnt have a sprocket so the chain pitch doesnt matter.

Seems to be oiling fine, at least there are not too many teeth to sharpen on this little chain 😅. I need to start making my own chain i recon, the panther unguarded mini chain cuts well 👍

this star is not for this chain, you need a star for 1/4 picco and you have a regular star for 1/4 chains.

@@RJLmachinery due to this discrepancy, the wear of both the star and the chain will be increased, the load on the saw motor will also be increased, and the chain itself will not be able to tighten normally, because in some positions of the star the chain will sag a little, and in some it will be too tight that the engine will not be able to turn it , as it was when you first set the chain to the tire with this 9t sprocket.
This chain and sprocket combo was put together by a professional chainsaw chain company. It fits fine. Find me the correct 1/4 sprocket?
