RESTORING an Old STIHL FS 55 String TRIMMER
Thanks man. Went through this back up set within 1.5 years. Last video I watched didnt say anything about greasing the bearings so this should help. Thanks again
No worries, these wheels are crap, they wear out so quick 😅, I've just bought different tread pattern wheels for this mower so hopefully last longer.
Good video. I went with Stihl after seeing your old review that mentioned this issue. The dealer I talked to was not aware of any such issue on the Stihls. It also seems like a much simpler design with just a metal pin connecting to the top piece.
Cheers, yeh both machines have their positives and negatives, think im more in favour of the makita though, even more so now 😅
Look at all that metal that you are losing on the blades by using a side grinder ! Why don’t you just take your time and use a file you will get a more precise edge and no where nearly as much metal that you are taking off your blades. That grinder reduces the life of your blades big time. Use a file and take your time much better results 👍
No the grinder is fine, i wasnt taking anymore off than needed to get back a sharp edge, I havent got the time to waste using a file. I get Better results with a grinder anyway. Each to there own.
Keeping the link for the future. Thanks
👌
Your videos are so helpful. I bet I will need to do this in the future. Thank you sir!
Cheers mate 👍
I will bear this in mind if I get any issues.. thanks 👌
I think the alignment is slightly out from new, would be my guess, and once thinks wear out abit thats when issues arise, at least I have found a fix now, Cheers mate 👍
Fingers crossed, this is the long term fix for this issue. You heard it here first 😅. Leave me a like for my efforts👍

Hello, Is it possible on pruning saw MAKITA DUC101Z to change 10 cm guide bar with 15 cm, which is from DUC150Z model?
Yes its possible, i will be converting mine very soon 👍
So tilt it with carburetor up?
Yes ideally, sometimes you have to lift from the other side for access reasons though.
At 29:25 what tool did u use and what was that turn for ? & also at 30:00 can u show and explain what u did back there what was that purpose. If possible thanks
Its just a tiny screwdriver, the first turn was just slight counter clockwise on the low adjuster for better throttle response, the second one at the back was increasing the idle rpm. 👍
Thanks - this was a very helpful video when setting up my new sprayer
Cheers 👍
Bought the new carburetor from STIHL them selfs or Amazon ?
I always recommend buying genuine carbs and not aftermarket ones.
Just ordered one, it's come but it's got a plate at the top of the chute, a safety thing I guess but I'm wondering how anything's going to fit in the hole. None of the videos I've watched have this.
Check this video out th-cam.com/video/NzQ76AnTGOI/w-d-xo.html 👌
Hello, worth to buy these? ;o
Is it normal that when I grab one blade and the other with my other hand and move the blades one to the left, the other to the right, to the side, the blades move a little bit a millimeter or two.The greatest displacement is observed on the nose of the blade, and apparently begins at the very beginning of the blade when it gets into the gearbox. Otherwise, it cuts good after 50 hours of work.
Depends on the specific hedge trimmer, some have a bigger gap than others.
@@RJLmachinery Thanks. I think this is normal. On my makita eh6000w adjusting blade clearance process: Loosen the nut, tighten the bolt till it stops and screew it back a quarter turn, tighten the nut. Actually I will change 60 cm blade to 75 cm, the machine will stay the same. I am cutting top of the hedges from both sides of the hedge, I dont like using long reach trimmers but I will get additional 30 cm.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Cheers 👍
My belt has shredded twice after changing it out. Any idea what am I doing wrong?
Your belt tensioner arm hole and spacer are likely worn, see my community post i made about it 👍
I use the Dremel SpeedClic CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) 38mm Dia Cutting Disc's to cut off seized track rod ends and seized bearings at the top of suspension strut mounts etc. "without" damaging mating surfaces .... something not easily achieved with a 115mm grinding disc.
Those little speedclic cutting discs are brilliant, ive used them loads, so handy for those tight little jobs. Cheers 👍
I use an m12 angle die grinder with a roloc disc. Best of both worlds for me
Yeh die grinders are great, this video is not really for you 🤣. Is that m12 one decent?
Onde compro?
Thinking of getting one of these
They are pretty handy machines
I have been restoring a Westwood Laser L95 and I have a sweeper with it, the mower no longer has a cutting deck nor any brackets on it. I believe I may have the brackets but I don't know how to fit them. Many of the once moving parts are rusted together apart from the engine etc. Any ideas on how to attach and run it ?
The brackets for the sweeper will attach in behind the rear wheels somewhere, similar to this one here. Have fun with it 😅
How do you clean piston with out striping
When you use the raker gauge does it happen to bend the freshly sharpened tooth`s corner? or even knock it right off? it happens to me often and really i don`t press on the gauge i have tried so many ways of holding it......have you noticed it happening to you? i know the gauge is harder than the steel used for teeth...but maybe is bad design i don`t know
Yes that is a bit of a problem at times i find, got to try and be a light as possible when resting it on the tooth, i will occasionally give them a quick once over file after doing the rakers, which is annoying 😅. It could also be a slight burr being folded that you are seeing? Most of the time its still good enough to cut with though.
@@RJLmachinery yes,a little burr somethimes andother times it really takes the corner away. i basically sharpen the chain to where i want to then do the rakers then swipe 2-3 files again with light pressure on the teeth ...only then i am satisfied hahaha
That's a great tip! Thanks mate!
cheers 👍
Double, all day. I can move any direction at any time. Get into harder to reach areas with ease.
Thanks for the video. I have a 142 I'm changing the fuel line on and it has been giving me hell. That opening is so small, I've been trying to push it through with other things and all kinds of stuff. Don't know how I haven't thought to strip it down a ways yet but I appreciate the idea. Appreciate it.
No worries, Yeh the fuel line is a pain in the ass 😂
Is there any charge level indicator?
No not on the actual tool, but if you use the newer batteries they come with a charge level indicator.
How do you find the quality re performance compared to the cooper pegler? I like the cp15 performance but the carrying straps are rubbish and the sprayer itself is a pain to store. The handle locks down with no where to attach the lance. Cheers .
I haven't used a CP for many years mate so not sure what the newer ones are like, probably comparable performance, all depends on the nozzle being used as well i find. Straps are not the best either. This was only £70 on sale so a bargain really 😀. I would look into a battery sprayer as well mate, if you are venturing more into the lawn care side of things. I have the makita one and its been great so far. 👍
I have a Husqvarna 359 made in 2000. Bought it new in 01. Glad you didn't edit out parts where you were struggling a bit. I've been fighting this new fuel line and never thought to cut it in half a little before threading in hole. Also, the boiling water trick for fuel filter😊Cheers!!
Yeh the fuel line is a faff 😂 Cheers 👍
Хочу купить себе такой. Хотел спросить как он в работе, удобный хороший.
Did you get these off AliExpress?
Cracking problem 3:17
???
Cracking problem
Thx the chest strap makes a big difference on my BR-800 X and keeps the pressure of my shoulders. There are two places the strap can be installed but I choose the one below the buckle and not above.
Certainly helps when using for longer periods, cheers 👍
west coast saw makes a good one too thats made from good steel. alittle pricy vut i like supporting small companys like that
Yes wcs does some really good stuff, hard to get some of it here in the uk. Cheers
Hey mister RJL it's me again. Do you know if i can put the metal pieces back to the bearing if the metal on the ring itself is in good shape? I just bought a second hand hedge trimmer (old style) and everything looks clean and almost unused, but this tiny metal sticks are everywhere and clearly not in place. I think i'm going to try anyway because I think i have nothing to loose there if i don't turn the engine on :) I already got to putting it together but if i put all the sticks that fit they stop rolling, so i thoung maby remove just one to give alittle space? Thanks for your knowledge, have a nice week.
Once those needle bearings come apart that normally means they failed (lack of grease usually) A new connecting rod/bearings is your fix. Don't bother trying to bodge them back together 👍
@@RJLmachinery Thanks!
@@RJLmachinery Are we talking about a single bearing breaking in half or just falling out? Because I just took my trimmer apart for the first time and it's well greased but the bearings kinda just fell out. I managed to find them all and put them back in but these little things are a bitch to handle. Once I put everything back together it should work ok then right?
You go through this whole video and never give us a link to the replacement part. What the hell?
🤣 You realise there are people watching all over the world, if i put a link from where i got it, it might not be available for some people. Stop being lazy and type the part number into a search engine, so you get the part local to you. 🙄
@@RJLmachinery that's what I was saying. I didn't see a part number. If it was in the video I missed it.
@@inclinedtoshadows4545 You blind 😂, 4:43 mate
I have an original Husqvarna easy pour can, they are much better than their later model. This one looks a little better.
Yeh standards have dropped for sure, I have the newer husky combi can and the spouts failed on me. This is only just a cheap addon for normal gas cans, if people dont want to spend the money on a proper no spill can etc. Cheers mate.
Like your style man
👌👍
Let’s see some doublewide stripes
Did you have an Amazon link or anything for the pitch conversion stuff you put in?
No sorry, prob not available on amazon.
Very precise mate 👍
Thanks buddy, probably abit over the top for most people 🤣
@@RJLmachinery no way mate . my father was a tool room grinder 👍
Why not just give a torque setting. That would be most helpful
Every blade set will be different, so hard to give an exact torque spec 👍
Thanks for watching 👍. Oh btw when i said to take the sparkplug out to check the blade, i meant just pull the HT lead off the sparkplug. 👍
Really great tutorial here. You do these so well. Cant believe you don't get more attention.
Thanks mate i appreciate the feedback, I try my best to be as helpful and informative as possible 👍
Great video - very well explained...thanks 🙂
@@andrewsflicks7920 Nice one, cheers 👍
