So Glad You Made this.... So many boat owners that don't actually know how to operate in the flats. I hate watching folks in their overpowered huge skinny water boats throw mud and tear up our grass flats. Thanks For Watching Out!
Still scarred the bottom but it was minimal. Better to get a lighter boat, like a technical poling skiff with a tunnel that’s designed to jump up in 5” of water; and don’t try to get up until you have 8”.
Great tip. Quick question. Your cavitation plate (compression plate), when you are on plane how high off of the water is the plate out of the water more less? Thanks
That would be depending on where your motors intakes are located, and where the water flows out of your tunnel. Yeah once youre moving it does travel above the waterline, but enough to where youre still getting flow to the motor
I see what you did but a verbal explanation would add a lot to this video. Next time I'm in the shallows, I'll give this a shot but doesn't it have the same result as trimming the motor up so long as the water intake remains below the waterline?
You do trim the motor up, but there's more to it than that. You have to make the circle in order to force water up into the intake, the circle helps get momentum faster than if you try and take off straight. Also important factors are the Cavitation plate, vertical jack plate, tunnel, and 4 blade prop.

Thank you so much. This is the method we use on our boat, and I think its a safe way for both your boat and for the bay. We hope it works for everyone
Thanks for helping us take our broken down boat back to the boat ramp
I hope everything works out! Thanks so much!

What kind of boat is that? Carolina Skiff 238 DLV? I have one and love to fish skinny in Florida but I hold back. Your video helps a lot. Thanks
Very similar yo a Carolina, its a Bay Stealth. Thanks so much for watching! Glad we could be of help!

Thanks
What type of boat do you have and what length is it? Nice boat!
Its a 21' Bay Stealth with a 140 Suzuki. It's kind of a bigger/heavier boat to be in the shallows with, so we get asked how we do it quite a bit.

@@ComeOnRedsFishing perfect explanation, thanks.
Awesome tips bro
Thank you so much!
Hey brother, I'm new to boating. Will that be with the motor trimmed down all the way?
yes all the way down, you can make your adjustment to plane after you're already popped out of the hole
@@ComeOnRedsFishing thanks for the help brother!
