Trail Ridge road in Colorado is the scariest road I’ve ever been on. At one point you are driving 12,000 feet up with a dead drop off right next to you and if you go over the edge you would free fall for almost 2 miles before you hit anything.
Y’all need to get an eyedropper. To add water if you are going to do that. And it would be nice if you gave a distribution list to see where this is possibly available. In my area odd or rare don’t seem to get here often. And I’m not a online shopper for bourbon. At least not yet.
I rented a Suzuki DR650 with street tires on it and absolutely ripped the road to Hana to shreds. Incredible experience. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Next time I want to try the road that loops up around northwest Maui too. If ya get the chance, DO IT!
Nice to see Compass Box using more Tomatin in their blends. Tomatin has really improved their product in recent years. This new Canvas blend sounds like another hit for CB!
The best way to do the road to Hana is to stay down there for a night or two. That way you can start a bit later in the day and avoid some traffic, and there are a couple of nice beaches down there that you wouldn't have time to enjoy if you have to do the return the same day.

I love compass box. But there is another company called single note which have produced one of the best whiskies I've ever had. Single note Caol ila 3year, amazing. I'd love to see something from them on here.

There is a fruit that is described as the most delicious fruit and the most expensive...the MANGOSTEEN! One of the reasons why it is so expensive is first it is delicious, but also it is can only be grown in hot climates and it goes bad very quickly. I challenge the Whiskey Vault/Whiskey Tribe to distill it!😌
How important is it to read the tasting notes/blending notes of a whiskey before drinking it? Is it best to know what flavors you should be looking for before the first sip? Or is it better to go in blind, try to discern what you are tasting, and then check the notes and see how close you were? Side note: I would love to see a Whiskey Tribe ep where you give false tasting notes to v̶i̶c̶t̶i̶m̶s̶ volunteers, and see if they actually find those wrongs notes or if they just straight up call you out on your BS.
I feel it's like watching a trailer for a movie. Sometimes it can excite you for what's coming, and sometimes it may make you predisposed to see things there. It's really your personal preference whether you want to be prepped or go in blind
Great question! My personal approach is if it is something I "know" I want, meaning no research or without reading the label to decide if I even want to buy it, I will skip it and try it first. Then wait a couple days and try it again (I have a bad history with neck pours) after that 2nd try, then I will read the label. This approach is rare however, since 90% of the time I read a label before purchasing.
There are plenty of examples where they've been surprised at the accuracy of the tasting notes, and others where the blurb is obviously outsourced to some marketing company that doesn't know anything about the whiskey or the distiller/bottler.

Bourbons really don't have a large range of flavor. I describe the bourbon range of flavor as if you are looking at a clock, the range is from about 10:30 to 1:30.. Not that big of a swing... Scotch on the other hand has a larger range of flavor, again, using a clock as reference, say from 9:00 to 3:00, a larger spread.. Thank goodness I enjoy bourbon, as well as Scotches, and rye, and rums, and tequila., and gins, as well as absinthe... It's all about the flavors..
Past 12 to 15 years, depending on many factors, I won't pay for that age statement, to me not worth it, and flavor is too woody for me,. There are many great bourbons with flavors I enjoy for under 40 bucks, and so many great bourbons under 100 bucks, most of which are less than 12 years. Several of my very favorites are around 35 bucks.

Love CB but don’t have Canvas, yet. Drove half way to Hana and my wife said Stop! Had to turn around and drove the return trip at half speed. 😢
