Whisky.com reviews the Ardbeg BizarreBQ. This limited bottling of Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden, who was created together with Grillmaster Christian Stevenson, who as DJ BBQ to the successful TH-camr. On his channel, DJ BBQ presents over 200 barbecue recipes and everything you can cook, roast or steam with a grill. A shared passion for smoke brought Dr. Lumsden and DJ BBQ together in 2020, and Stevenson has already been a master griller at Ardbeg Day 2021. The BizarreBQ whisky is aged in double charred oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and the distillery's own invented BBQ casks, which have been extra charred on a traditional fire basket, ushering in the 2023 barbecue season. The combination of these barrels provides a sweet and spicy-smoky flavor that is ideal for the first or already next barbecue.

This is a fabulous Ardbeg special release. I don't always appreciate the gimmicks with the special releases but they did well with this beauty! Delicious! It's hard not to love an Ardbeg!! Cheers!

Well over charred casks with PX sweetness sounds actually very nice and right up at Ardbeg's street. I'm tired of Ardbeg's gimmicks but sometimes they do produce good ones. Cheers Horst!

I still haven’t had any Ardbeg release that can beat Corryvreckan. And with the crazy price hike of the seasonal releases I see no reason to buy anything else either hehe.

I haven't tried the special releases but Corryvreckan, when you get a decent bottling, strikes me as utterly exceptional and has all the qualities of an exceptional whisky and reminds me of old Brora from the 60's with that vast and almost chewy and pure minerally peat and nothing else. Sometimes less is more, in terms of cask finishes, and Corry is a perfect example of supreme quality distillate speaking for itself.

Ardbuck 🤑 I actually love Ardbeg and appreciate their weird style. If only the quality was just a little better, they could create some amazing stuff. Personal opinion, but I think their fatal mistake was coming out with Wee Beastie and An Oa. They should have stuck to the core range and these weird one offs.

I agree with you i was not a fan of Wee Bestie and An Oa. I recently went back to an old bottle of An Oa and was really surprised at how much i liked it. Not sure if letting the bottle sit for a year or so did anything but i liked it the second time i tried it.

Tried this today and it’s quite nice with the sherry influence. Similar to the Uigidail, for those who like that punchy smoky bacon quality.

I found this at a TB last one on the shelf and had to try it. I think it’s a bit too intense for me, I prefer the wee beastie, but maybe it will grow on me

These cheesy releases have made it VERY hard to take Ardbeg seriously. They’ve gone from a brand that I highly respected a few years ago to… this.

As long as the bottle content is on point, the words printed on bottle label doesnt matter .Taste/price should be on point, everything else is marketing.

I always loved ardbeg. But somehow these last years their special releases just became crazy and their whisky just isn’t as good anymore.
I think starting from 2019 everything went downhill fast….

I'm in the USA and never heard of him. must be some intagram influencer - too late to notice, not flavor of the week has passed...too bad ardbeg banked on it...marketing gimmick.
