Actually, when you discussed how it doesn't demonstrate or introduce character in order to create an understanding of the Moshi world, I was shocked at how right you were. Being a huge Moshi fan myself, I instantly loved the movie and understood every part of it, needing no further clarification on who or what the characters were. I couldn't help but laugh as you tried to move Dr. Strangeglove's eyes, I've been so used to them being on top of his hat that I've never had that same urge of misplacement. I was only slightly shocked when you chose 4 points for the music, which I think is slightly high considering most of the music was pre-written and not made specifically for the film. (Original music could have made up for the lack of good animation... Maybe)

You aren't alone in that regard. I was so obsessed with Moshi Monsters back then; I had all the toys, sets and games. I even saw this movie in cinemas at 8 years old and loved it. It's quite sad the website is closed now, as I have so many memories of it 😔 (I also gave the toys to my little siblings, and the movie still sits on my DVD shelf)

OMG MOSHI MONSTERS THAT GAME WAS AMAZING I HAD A PINK KATSUMA! The company that made the game is trying to revive it through mobile games and books. Also, I pronounced it 'Maw-shee' instead of 'Moe-shee'. It just sounds weird. I also adored this film; then again I was probably the world's biggest fan. Most of the songs were taken from the MOSHI MONSTERS ALBUM. Yes, there was an album. I had it of course. My copy of the DVD came with a secret code for Mrs. Snoodle and a trading card of Jackson. I will now name every piece of Moshi merchandise I have. All three video games, plushies of Katsuma, Poppet and Luvli, plenty of books, the collectible Moshling figures that always get lost, shampoo, a personalised mug with my face on it, almost every issue of the magazine, the trading cards, the stickers, the aforementioned album, the membership for the online game, the movie on DVD, the mobile apps, a phone charm, a media case, Easter eggs, the gummy fruit snacks, everything with a monster's face slapped on it basically.
Is it sad that I saw this movie in cinemas, but still forgot it existed, despite playing Moshi Monsters for years (I stopped a long time ago, don't worry)?

Moshi Monsters is more like a shameless rip off neopets then pokemon in my opinion. The gameplay is like if Neopets and Club Penguin had a love child. That said it does come off as really trying to capture the fad of anime style collectable creatures that pokemon started. As for the movie; That is some cheap animation for a (if wikipedia is anything to go by) £1.5 million budget movie. I think even Johnny Test had fluid animation then this movie. I have to disagree greatly that this movie has the same feel as the first pokemon movie. Pokemon the first movie is not great , the dub is rubbish and writing is very flawed but it clearly had a lot more passion to then this. I say it's more the feel of a pokemon mini movie that would plays at the start.
Idk if you will be seeing this but I wanted to tell you that some of the animations in the movie are actually from the game sometimes(mainly at the opening) Also almost all of the songs in this movie were actually released in a music CD before the movie was even developed the only original song was that song where katsina and poppet were in the cave(We can do it)
I like your review of the movie I personally enjoyed the movie myself but that's probably because like you said I am a fan of Moshi Monsters so I found it to be kind of cute I will say that the main male character did kind of get on my nerves a little bit but other than that I quite enjoyed it
The only thing I remember about the movie is how it spawned controversy on affecting the self esteem of the kids who watched it due to some crap I've forgotten Just goes to show how memorable it was to me
The movie’s colorful demeanor is meant to be colorful. It’s Moshi Monsters. But yeah, moderating the colors are something they NEED to do sometimes. I mean, yeesh. This is a bit of a mess.

This business practice is ok in the pokemon games because you just buy the game and play the game to find all the pokemon. When you have to buy the seperate characters then it is wrong.
cleonumber1 Seedy business practice isn't limited to just in-game microtransactions. Sometimes, a franchise's major purpose is to just promote merchandise. You forget that the Pokémon franchise stretches beyond the games and includes toys, dvds, trading cards, and other related products. "Gotta catch 'em all" is subtext for "You've got to buy all the toys and cards for each Pokémon", and that's why the practice can be criticised as sneaky. It's healthy and fine to be a Pokémon fan, but naive to ignore the strategies being employed by the franchise's marketing team.
It is natural for them to want to try different avenues to make money since the Pokemon franchise is so big. But it is definately better than companies who are 100% pay to win and are always saying "you must pay x amount of money to progress through the game"
I'm sorry, being less morally bankrupt than microtransactions isn't much of a compliment. Yes, from business standpoint, it makes complete sense, but let's not beat around the bush, the franchise is far from discreet about getting people to buy as many Pokemon plushies & cards as possible. I can praise that as a marketing strategy, but I can't say that it's respectful or decent in terms of ethics. I'm a Pokemon fan myself, but I'm honest enough to admit that the suits behind the franchise aren't all darling angels.

A bit ironic that a movie devoted to Easter (or was this a review that just happened to coincide with Easter? I forget), a holiday devoted to the coming of a new time of year where people are supposed to exchange generosity and well-being towards one-another, when the very spirit of this movie is little more than being a cash grab. I'm not one to get super-religious, but it doesn't matter to me whether or not you celebrate Easter or not; if you're making an Easter special, the worst crime you can commit is doing it for your own self-gain, and no, I don't believe the spirit of generosity and good will should be reserved for Christmas. As for the color scheme of this movie, I think the creators must have been brainwashed at some point into watching the TV show "Problem Solverz" and were badly brain-damaged to where they just couldn't avoid using bring colors in everything they touched-although trust me, "Problem Solverz" is MUCH more painful on the eyes-it will give you a migrane if not a seizure.
