Omg thank you so much 😭😭 I actually have a simstagram with this family's story, sort like a soap opera/telenovela lol. The account is starstruck.stories and I'm on season 2! But I definitely want to share more gameplay stuff on youtube also!
i'm sooo happy the algorithm suggested this video to me! I've had this desire to play the sims so much yet i always get so bored because i end up creating the same scenarios in my head, but your tips are really useful and I'm excited to try them!! thank you :)
I love the attention to detail and choosing traits based off of experience. I have a habit of making my sims and their families PERFECT but after watching to your video, I want to open my mind toward making them have negative traits as well. You make the sims seem so much more interesting! I also play on console so I would like to still stay occupied! So glad I came across this video :)
@@cecilymarie I'm so glad you liked the video and that you have some new ideas!! Something I've also done recently in my own gameplay is looking at sims who are super positive and turning that into something interesting. Like sims who maybe think they're the best sim ever, and how that could impact their mindset and how they also interact with others. I have a sim right now who's very generous and empathetic, but he has some distant family members who are villains/criminals and have caused his immediate family a lot of problems. He's gonna confront them, thinking his kindness will win no matter what, but it's gonna backfire big time 🤭 So even with the sims who seem perfect, I think there are ways to make them more interesting too! Thanks again for watching and good luck with your sim stories!
I super relate to your play style. I have a hard time switching from my main save, and I've been exploring different "timelines" for the same family with the recover save feature. My favorite family is super dark, kinda Addams and Edgar Allan Poe inspired. It has alcoholism, drug abuse, and two young sisters trying to move on after their mother committed suicide (thanks to extreme violence and basemental mods). It's super dark but I love the drama on that family
Oooh that sounds so interesting! And yeah for sure seems like our style is similar haha. All the drama all the time for my sims 🫡 now i simply have too many of them and it's hard to play through them all, so i'm having an apocalypse and seeing who survives 🤷🏻♀️ That's a really interesting idea about different timelines, might try it some day!
That’s exactly how I was able to do the 100 baby challenge. I found that I had to start caring about these children and their wants wishes and desires. That’s what made it stay enjoyable. And I truly believe that’s the way it’s meant to be played, unlike previous versions of the game where you could plunk down characters and they would entertain you.
I agree, actually paying attention to each sim makes it so much more fun and interesting to me. And wow, with the 100 baby challenge, that sounds intense! I've never done it 'cause when I watch them, it always just seems like churning out babies nonstop and kicking them out of the house so fast and they don't really have any personalities 💀 But maybe doing it more slowly, even if it takes forever, will be a lot more fun and actually focusing on the kids
@@starstruck_sims actually I’ve now got 100 sims that I care about and if I ever get the courage to start posting my own let’s play I want to call it 100 baby Legacy and play their lives. I have 100 different challenges that I’ve designed and am almost ready to go. I’m just kinda nervous to start filming.
@@cubsmcgee9076 nice that sounds fun, good luck with it!! And yeah I also have more than 100 sims I rotationally play through, it takes a while but I can't imagine just choosing one kid to play and ignoring all the others, so "heir" gameplay isn't for me at all! I've had to start limiting my sims to one kid each or it's just too much lmao
I have a really hard time sticking to one family. Usually as soon as I get a few maxed out skills or a maxed out career I just start all over again. But these are some good ideas, I usually just randomize traits but the way you do it adds a new level of immersion that maybe I've been missing. Thanks!
Wonderful video with great suggestions! I am not always this intentional with my own Sims' traits/lives, but when I am it is so engaging and rewarding. A couple examples from my own game: - A set of twins were total opposites. The boy slept through most of his babyhood, only waking up when he needed feeding or a diaper change. He was angelic as a toddler, and as an adult he became a peaceful farmer in Henford-on-Bagley. The girl cried almost constantly as a baby and, naturally, got the fussy trait when she aged up. As an adult, she was hot-headed and adventurous, and she lived for thrills: snowboarding, rock climbing, and space expeditions. - One widower remarried when his daughter was a child, and he went on to have a second child with this wife. His first daughter was jealous of the attention the new baby got. She worried that her dad didn't love her as much anymore and was forgetting about his first wife. When she aged up into a teen, she developed the Hates Children trait and really didn't like being around her little half-sister. It wasn't until they were both adults that the sisters really connected with each other. As for other ideas, I move my Sims to other worlds a lot so I like when their environment affects their personalities or lifestyles. For example, Sims from Oasis Springs or other hot climates tend to get the "Heat Acclimation" reward trait. Sims who grew up in Mt. Komorebi prefer eating with chopsticks, even if they move somewhere else later on in life. One Sim decided to become a professional violinist because as a child she lived in San Myshuno and loved watching musicians busking in the street.
Ahh I love that so much, especially how you use the additional hidden traits! I gotta make more use of those! Your second story reminds me of how, when my sim married a townie and that townie moved in, the townie left behind parents and two twin kid sisters. The parents died and the sisters got adopted. So I went around the worlds trying to find them and found them in a house with a random adult dude lol. I was gonna take them back until I saw an urn in his house and realized his wife had died (this was right after neighborhood stories got added), and they'd never had kids. So then he adopted these two 😭😭 Now he remarried and has a kid with his 2nd wife, 2 dogs, and still takes care of the twins he adopted (all through neighborhood stories, I don't play the house). It's so sweet 😭
This was really fun to watch! You've inspired me to make the most out of the traits, even if I have to make it up in my head lol. I have more fun with my sims when I plan out their day and have a loose storyline, but the unexpected things that pop up make things way more interesting!
They definitely do, I love taking those random things and integrating them into the storyline when it makes sense! I'm glad to hear you liked the video!!
I find the Parenthood game pack helps my legacy challenges a lot. My sim was a violinist and had good emotional control, meanwhile my other sim who wasn't a violinist, had no emotional control (plus he was erratic so it made sense).
Thanks for sharing those tips with us! I'm not fan about the big family tree, maybe because I have a distant relationship with mine but but what works a bit for me in Sims 4 is living with all my Sims in the same world, with my construction and more. But in a way what I prefer is when the story begin, building the house, it took my few hours an then I'm tired to play...
Ahh building the house and making the sims take forever, so I understand feeling tired after that! 😫 I like to start with unfurnished builds so then the sims have to fill it up as they earn money. I'm also not close to my family at all, so I think I enjoy the drama and complicated relationships I can make happen in these families 😅 That's a cool idea about having them all live in the same world! Then at least you see them all the time wandering around
@@starstruck_sims I understand your gameplay too, but I always use Motherlode once and then I let the money go because when my Sims feels angry or upset for exemple this makes me feel the same 😅 I'm impress by the way you introduce your storie's Sims Thanks for your answer
I love this method so much! I also don’t pick heirs and play with all the kids’ lives, so I have six households right now I play rotationally, more on the way now that the teens are getting older. I love how you let gameplay affect the traits! I usually do the same, but sometimes I pick things randomly and end up doing the same things over and over again. Thank you for this video! This will for sure improve my gameplay!
I'm so glad you liked the video!! And yeah ahh sometimes it takes forever to cycle through all the households but I can't imagine not playing the other kids' lives. How many generations are you in? Now I'm around 4-5 gens in, and I'm starting to let siblings live together with their spouse and one kid each, so it ends up being 6 people in the house. I usually prefer small house sizes but this is helping me cycle through the families a bit faster at least haha
@@starstruck_sims I’m on the fourth generation! However Gen 2 still has two teens and Gen 3 is just starting to become young adults and teens, so I’m a bit all over the place trying to get everyone’s lives going. There are 6 kids in Gen 2, 17 Grandkids, and 3 great grand kids with the first bio one on the way. I actually started this save as a Simself version of my irl family, so I was a bit ahead. (Though in the future I want to start with the first Gen only). I plan on playing with everyone in the family like which will take years on end, but whenever I try to play in other saves I always go back this one! I love being part of their lives! And my households are usually 7-8 sims so it’s pretty busy, but some of those households are big because they have pets. So I guess I’m still technically on Gen 2 and 3 but there are four generations total!
@@itslizzieann ahh that sounds so nice!! My young adults are gen 4 and the babies are gen 5 now. Takes me SO LONG to get through a gen but it's worth it haha. So much room for little stories
I have never tried to choose my sims traits I always pick them at random, but your idea sounds so good. Thank you for the recommendations, I think I will try it 🥰
I loved the way you play, it gave me so many good ideas to play on my own game. My oldest save I'm on the 16th generation, but because of a lot of bugs and problems I was having with the game I kinda gave up playing with them, which makes me really sad about it. I tried starting over on a new savefile and on this one I'm on the third generation, but I got bored and life got busier, so i was a couple of months without playing the sims. But I must say your videos made me want to play the game again, so many good ideas, I'm really excited to play the game again. And i would loved to see more videos about storytelling, rotational gameplay and gameplays. I watched all of your videos about that and I'm reawatching them to comment on every single one and I'm taking some notes too. ❤️❤️
That's so, so kind of you, this comment made my week! Thank you, I'm so glad you find the videos helpful and that they make you want to play again! Are you going to start a new save file? Or try to resuscitate your old save somehow? I hope you enjoy it, however you get back into it!
I’m always nervous when choosing teen/young adult etc traits because with the mean glitch romance can ALREADY be so hard in the game!!!!!! Love your videos, so glad that TouTube recommended you!
The mean glitch is horrible omg!! One of my sim dads randomly robbed his child and gave her a black eye 😭😭😭😭 he had the evil trait but STILL it shouldn't be his elementary school child 😭😭 (this led to a divorce lmfao). I feel like I have to constantly monitor my sims so they don't insult their loved ones all the time Thank you so much for watching!
I've been playing Sims since TS1, right now I'm enjoying TS4. I love your approach to how you give your Sims their traits, I might want to borrow that for my next legacy challenge. I usually just randomize the traits and pick the aspirations based on those. I also enjoy Wants and Fears gameplay (I have a mod that fixes the Wants and Fears System and I enjoy playing with them alot more). Right now, I am working on a legacy called "The Aspirations Legacy" my rules are: 1) Base Game and Seasons are unlocked at the start, as well as Holiday Celebration and Spooky Stuff (they go with Seasons' Holidays) 2) You can only use the BB, CAS, jobs, worlds, and aspirations from the unlocked DLC. 3) Mods that enhance/fixes Gameplay (PreTeen Mod, Healthcare Mod, Dentalcare Mod, Eyecare Mod, SimRealist's Mods, Better Mermaids, Better Babies, Carl's Fixes, etc.) are allowed. 4) Every New Heir/Heiress has to live in a different unlocked world or neighborhood than the one they grew up in. You can unlock more DLC by: A) Hitting certain Milestones: 1) MY WEDDING STORIES unlocks when you marry a sim (I actually didn't unlock this yet because my Sim and their partner never officially married/wanted to get married) 2) PARENTHOOD is unlocked when you become a parent 3) TODDLER STUFF is unlocked when the first baby becomes a toddler 4) KIDS ROOM unlocks when the first toddler becomes a child 5) HIGH SCHOOL YEARS unlocks when all child aspirations have been completed. (My founder had three children; their oldest child completed two child aspirations) 6) DISCOVER UNIVERSITY unlocks when all teen aspirations have been completed (I only have one teen at the moment whose original Aspiration was The Curator but I changed it to Overachiever when her younger siblings completed their child aspirations, I will let her go back to The Curator once she completes the Overachiever Aspiration) 7) REALM OF MAGIC, VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, and ISLAND LIVING unlock if you marry / have a child with that specific occult you found in one of your unlocked worlds. (NOTE: I actually didn't have this rule at first about the occult packs, my founder fell in love with a Spellcaster and had their first child with him, so I used MCCC to erase his Spellcaster status away and let him live as human. But after a while I felt bad for the Sim and used MCCC to give him back his Spellcaster abilities then decided to add this rule) 8) GET FAMOUS unlocks when you become friends with at least 3 Celebrities (only if they wondered into your unlocked worlds) NOTE: This comment was made before GROWING TOGETHER came out, but if I had that DLC, I would have made it unlock when the first Newborn became an Infant. As well as, adding the new child Aspirations to the requirements for HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, but since my family already unlocked HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, I will just add in the DLC and my next generation has to complete the new child aspirations before unlocking another Expansion Pack. B) Completing an adult aspiration unlocks DLC without aspirations (such as stuff packs, and kits) C) Completing all aspirations that come with a certain DLC: For example: You have to finish all of the Base Game Aspirations before unlocking GET TOGETHER, and if you already unlocked High School Years and Discover University, you have to complete all of those aspirations as well before unlocking GET TOGETHER. NOTE: When CATS AND DOGS is unlocked it automatically unlocks MY FIRST PET STUFF as well, they should have been in the same Expansion anyway. As of this moment I only have 5 Sims: Two Adults (founder and their Partner), One Teen (my next Heiress, I do the First-Born Heir/Heiress thing), and Two Children (twins). I have already unlocked: BASE GAME, SEASONS, HOLIDAY CELEBRATION, SPOOKY STUFF, PARENTHOOD, TODDLER STUFF, KIDS ROOM STUFF, HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, REALM OF MAGIC, and GET TO WORK (founder completed the Renaissance Sim Aspiration, GTW doesn't have aspirations attached to it, so I decided to unlock it). I'm enjoying this challenge so far.
That's so unique, I love that you unlock certain packs/features as you play along! I haven't seen that kind of gameplay before. And thank you so much for watching!! I'll have to look for that wants and fears mod you mentioned 👀
Imagine this with Growing Together. I’m hopeful 🤞. I mostly play like this as well. My current legacy started out as a single sim rags to riches. I’ve been playing with the same family for about 3 years now. But this gave me soooo much more ideas because I was getting bored. Thanks so much! Glad I came across this video.
I don't think I have a systematic way of playing The Sims 4. I just create a family/household and get started with playing. I may design a backstory for the Sim too. I try to make every Sim different to spice things up a bit.
Haha omg same they've been around so long 😅 I think my oldest is at 1200 days now 💀 I just made her a vampire though because I refuse to let her die hahaha but she was already around 1200 when I turned her into one lol
this video was super interesting, i loved it! i just started a new save the other day, my sims just got engaged so i'll definitely try to use these tips once they start their family!
I'd really like to hear more about your serial killer sim. This is somewhat similar to how I play only it seems like you have a more thoughtful, intentional approach. I like to use different random events or things that happen to make decisions for my sims and my sims are also nearly always required to have a flaw of some sort. For example I gave my one sim evil as her flaw when she was a teen, but always with the thought that I'd allow her to grow out of it. I also answered those parental guidance cards or whatever they're called how I thought her parents would answer. Both of them were materialistic, the dad was a snob and the mom was neat and active so there answers were nearly always drven by the idea of working hard and getting wealthy. By the time she was halfway through her teens her empathy was in the negatives but her responsibility, manners and another trait were super high. Drama kicked off and the parents realized they had a problem so they set out to make her more empathetic with caveat that if they managed to get her empathy up I would switch her evil trait to good when she aged up. They failed but because she is polite, responsible and disciplined she passes herself off as a normal person and has a family but is also a serial killer who locks people in her basement. I think I'm going to copy what you're doing with the traits for toddlers and children, I really like that. I also use their circumstances and experiences to drive their story. The younger brother of my evil teen sim for ex. is much younger than his sisters. He was an accident and basically born when his older sisters were teens and there was a ton drama in the house. His parents also felt really insecure about their parenting because they felt like they had screwed up their daughters, so they basically gave him as little guidance as possible. He percieved this as neglect and has pursed global superstardom as antidote to the loneliness he felt as a child. He never goes without a gf and has a bunch of kids. It's been a really fun dramatic game. My 4th generation is starting to be born and the drama just keeps on coming.
Ahh I love that, really letting the drama and events in the game drive the story! It's so fun that way!! And I love that you use the character trait things from Parenthood (like responsibility/manners etc) add more to the story too, I always forget about those because some of them are really easy to get and others are really hard to get. And for my serial killer sim, long story short, but her mom and her grandma both died in pretty horrific ways (the mom basically running a sims mafia, which started as a way to get revenge for her own mother's death), so now the grandkid has just gone full serial killer and is really driven by anger. Every little thing that happens to her, she responds with anger. There's also about to be kind of an apocalypse in my game and the serial killer sim is gonna kidnap the one heir who can save everyone while she's still a kid and send her to Sixam,,,hehe it's pretty detailed
I know I'm a year late, but I REALLY REALLY like this video! You're video came right on time... I'm going to spend more time with the littles now because it makes sense. Hope you're still enjoying the game
Thank you so much, I'm definitely still enjoying it! This summer will be 5 years with my legacy and I'm only on gen 5, and still play almost every day 😅 I'm glad to hear you liked the video and I hope some of the ideas help!
thanks for the video! i’m just starting my first legacy run i’m on gen 2. I like how you use what’s going on in their life to determine personality traits and i think i’m gonna try it !
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the video! Traits can be hard, I just like making my sims' lives messy LOL so I like doing realistic traits for them
This was so interesting - thank you for sharing. I was a long time sims 2 player - like you I only picked up sims 4 in 2019 and have been struggling to engage with my sims. I would be very interested in more gameplay videos. Can I ask if you play with all the generations or move on with one family? New subscriber here - thanks again 😊
Thanks so much for watching, I'm really glad you liked the video!! I play all the generations and all of the families that branched off from the first two sims. I rotate between the houses and keep aging off until I feel like I've spent a good enough amount of time with the sims in their current lifespan. Then I turn aging on for a while and once they've all aged up a bit, I'll turn it off again and rotate through all the houses again. I find that the easiest way for me to engage with sims is having small households (1-4 sims is good for me), and I tend to build an individual sim's story the most when they're a teen or in university, because I feel like there's more focus on them and I really get to know them/their life story the best at that time. Building stories off of their negative/difficult traits helps a lot too! Thank you so much for subscribing! I'll be posting a let's play soon but I'll think of other gameplay ideas to share too!
I have one save, when I want to play another family or create sims I just make a new household. I use to make new saves for every new household.. Then I realised why not just move them into a different house LOL. I have had my save for about 2 years now.
Hahaha yeah that's definitely a solution! Do you have those sims interact with each other ever? And nice, 2 years is so long! Mine is about 3 years now, I started playing the sims 4 in late 2019!
Hi just saw your video in my time line. Thanks for the tips, one mod love is the Family tree mod I use it for sims who have no family, it goes way back and lol interesting to how they died ect. They show up on your home lot and add them to family then can move them in their house or keep them there, the game gets family from the gallery and the game sims in your game , This has been fun for me the one story line was my sims parents really didnt want kids so when her mom showed up lol shes like okay but hugged her any way her dad well over time they got along, her mom had the hates children trait, she did love her grand kids, somehow they all worked through it, new sub here!
Ahh that's so fun, I hadn't heard of that mod? So it completely generates the sims and story? That's really cool, would be useful for the random townies that my sims marry and they have no backstory haha 😅 Thank you so much for subscribing!!
Ahh good question! I usually tie it to their career, which is usually decided by their traits. I have a Child of the Ocean sim right now who's also a Genius, so she's studying at Foxbury to be a Marine Biologist and she lives in Sulani with a part-time job as a diver and has the Sulani aspiration. If there's not an aspiration for their career, then I usually tie it to the thing they're trying to personally grow from; so if they had an absent family growing up, they might have the big family tree or super parent aspiration!
I love these ideas! I'm definitely going to try this for myself. I also want to try filling all of the neighborhoods with my own builds and sims. Do you build much?
Thank you so much!! I love building in the sims, I prefer interiors over exteriors so most of my build videos are decorating rooms haha. Definitely want to try filling up neighborhoods, it takes so long but it's nice to see it come together!
I used to play The Sims 2/3 on console until I got a gaming PC in 2019. The Sims 4 was my first Sims PC game and fell in love with it since. I should really try out your method. I didn't know how to properly play The Sims 4 and got bored with it very quick. I actually have an idea on starting my first family legacy and I'm gonna try to follow your tips. I was hoping to buy the Growing Together expansion pack before starting. Have you tried that pack for your families in the game?
Ahh I really hope the tips help with your legacy family!! The Sims 4 was also my first PC game (also in 2019?? Haha), and I've loved it since! I do have Growing Together, but to be honest, when I get a new pack, I don't try out everything at once because I still want things to feel new months from now. So I haven't tried the family reunion and some other things in the pack. I love the build and cas items. And before I got the pack, I was playing with the base game infants, and the pack definitely gives a lot more options with the infants. I felt like base game infants were lacking a lot, so I definitely prefer the pack for that. But, like I said, there are some features I haven't tried yet so I can't speak to the whole pack's usefulness. I think it's kind of like Seasons in that it's more in the background of your game than something really obvious to see all the time. Getting work burnout has been fun (for my sims...hahaha not me). I'm looking forward to getting a midlife crisis sim, that will be fun too. The milestones are a great addition to the game too
Thank you so much! I'm thinking about streaming one day but I would need a more reliable set-up because my laptop crashes constantly lol. However, I do have a simstagram where I post this family's story, @/starstruck.stories . I'm on season 2 there (the serial killer I mention in this video will probably be around season 4 lol!)
That one must have been either Extreme Violence or maybe Basemental Gangs 🤔 but I think Extreme Violence! Here's a list of my mods: MCCC, UI cheats, Extreme Violence, Sims Torments, Healthcare Redux, Wonderful Whims, Dine Out Reloaded, Preteen Mod, Basemental Drugs and Gangs, Oni recipe pack, some small gameplay tweak mods by bienchen, Showtime by kawaiistacie, all recipes cookbook mods by little ms sam, Sim City Loans, Woohoo Wellness (great for relationship stuff and a bit more realistic pregnancy/more fertility options), and some TwistedMexi mods for build/buy (tool, all cheats, better exceptions, better build buy)!
Two questions! 1. When the child grows up to live on their own…do you create a spouse for them or do you just have them meet an AI? Also, how do you save your sims like I had two daughters and I tried to give them two different households and I just ended up playing with one of them and never got the chance to play the other? Do you have to save them in a gallery? Sorry that was more than two questions lol.
For the first question, I usually let them find someone in the world! I actually haven't made sims in a long time in my main save file, only the first original sims and all the spouses have been townies! For the second question, I rotate between all the houses with aging off. Once I've gone through them all and had a chance to play with them, I turn aging on for a while and let them age up a bit, then I start the cycle again. It takes a long time since I have like 10 households now, but I want to play with all of them, so that's how I have to do it lol
@@starstruck_sims I definitely will be taking your advice! It’s a little harder for me because I don’t have all of the game packs and stuff I literally only have seasons 😭😭😭😂. But this advice will still work for me and my future endeavors!
Hahaha thank you! I actually have a simstagram account, starstruck.stories, where I'm posting the entire story! I'm about halfway through season 2 and the serial killer will probably enter the scene in season 4 hahaha. I thought about turning it into a machinima but it would probably take me YEARS 😅 so simstagram it is!
Is it just me or is anyone else a total control freak with their sims too? 😭 Like I play with autonomy on but I constantly feel the need to pause the game to check on all of my sims because I really don't want them to do stuff that I didn't specifically put in their to-do list and it feels kind of exhausting to the point where I'm playing 3 SIMS DAYS for like 6hours 😭 and then I just abandon the save file forever even when I catch myself missing the families I spent so much time on creating and playing with to only end up with 3 sim days going by
@@zetka_ meee 😅 I'm a control freak with them BUT i very rarely play with autonomy on. Because them doing dumb, out-of-character things makes no sense to me lol so usually it's all the way off, especially when playing with infants or newborns. Playing with small households also helps me a lot! Do you typically big households? Another strategy I use (when I occasionally play with autonomy on), is to just focus on one sim per day in the household, and rotate between them. It goes much faster. With the other sims, I'll just occasionally check in to make sure they're alive and ready to go to work/school the next day
Haha thank you for asking!! I have an instagram where I'm posting the story, all of season 1 is on there and it's about halfway through season 2 and I plan to get back to it soon. The account is starstruck.stories !
I love the video but I was just wondering if you played with every single child born to the family. I struggle so much with sticking to one family and I wanted to know if when you have your sims have kids and then each of those sims have kids do you play with everyone or do you select your favourites? Thanks for the video it was really helpful
I play with all of them! It takes a looooong time to cycle through the households though, that's the only con now that I'm 5 gens in. I'm trying to avoid playing with the step-kids that are brought in whenever my sims marry a townie with kids, just to reduce the amount of sims I'm playing. But sometimes they get their own stories and I want to play with them too 😭 And I have a lot of family tree math to figure out if some of them are related so I can see if they can date haha. I wish the sim relationship panels showed more distant family relations!
Thank you so much for commenting and subscribing!! Do you use mods? If so, I definitely recommend downloading CC skins that enhance sims' features so they look a lot better. I can recommend some if you want? If you can't use mods, I'd recommend trying to copy a celebrity's face on a sim, and play around with the opacity settings on makeup to improve the face texture. To start a family....hmmm, in new save files, I would think of the career or lifestyle you want them to have (careers you can do at home give you more chance for creatively making a story for them), and only play with 1 or 2 sims to start so you can figure out their personality. Based on their lifestyle, experiences, finances, the location they live, and their traits, that can decide what their kids' lives will turn out like, and then you have a whole family!
@@soheliacelestialsiblings not having money can be a fun challenge on the sims, but if you're playing a rich family/celebrity drama, then I'd cheat for them to have money! Otherwise I try not to cheat for it, unless there's some kind of glitch (for example, sometimes my sims order drinks at the bar and it takes the money but the drink never appears. So I order again and cheat the money back that they lost)
I love having those big family trees, but it's sad when sometimes they just don't work, like one time my sims sister just didn't show up.
Ahh ikr?? I don't really get how they work sometimes. I like the Plum Tree App, but I always forget to update it all lol
you can actually use MC Command Center to fix this!
@@starstruck_sims i do like it too and upload it all the time when someone is born
Im doing the 100 generation challenge, and currently on 4th generation
I love the way you use their circumstances to choose their traits. That gives them so much more depth!
Thank you so much!! I couldn't play any other way tbh haha
I could listen to you explain your Sims' backstories and the origins of their traits for hours
Omg thank you so much 😭😭 I actually have a simstagram with this family's story, sort like a soap opera/telenovela lol. The account is starstruck.stories and I'm on season 2! But I definitely want to share more gameplay stuff on youtube also!
arghhh i cant find u@@starstruck_sims
I usually don't like playing with toddlers, but your video really inspired me to pay more attention to them!
Ahh I'm so happy to hear that!! Hopefully the new infants update will also give us more inspiration!
i'm sooo happy the algorithm suggested this video to me! I've had this desire to play the sims so much yet i always get so bored because i end up creating the same scenarios in my head, but your tips are really useful and I'm excited to try them!! thank you :)
I'm so glad you liked the video and I hope it helps!! Thank you so much for watching!!
Thanks!
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thanks so much for watching!!
Wonderful video with great suggestions! I am not always this intentional with my own Sims' traits/lives, but when I am it is so engaging and rewarding. A couple examples from my own game:
- A set of twins were total opposites.
I'm also not close to my family at all, so I think I enjoy the drama and complicated relationships I can make happen in these families 😅
That's a cool idea about having them all live in the same world! Then at least you see them all the time wandering around
@@starstruck_sims I understand your gameplay too, but I always use Motherlode once and then I let the money go because when my Sims feels angry or upset for exemple this makes me feel the same 😅
I'm impress by the way you introduce your storie's Sims
Thanks for your answer
So much room for little stories
your way of playing is sooo cool!! I also play this way but you gave me so many ideas i'm so excited to play again!!
Yayyy I'm so glad you liked the video!! Thank you for watching!!
I have never tried to choose my sims traits I always pick them at random, but your idea sounds so good. Thank you for the recommendations, I think I will try it 🥰
I'm glad you liked the video, thank you so much for watching!!
I feel like I have to constantly monitor my sims so they don't insult their loved ones all the time
Thank you so much for watching!
Right now, I am working on a legacy called "The Aspirations Legacy" my rules are:
1) Base Game and Seasons are unlocked at the start, as well as Holiday Celebration and Spooky Stuff (they go with Seasons' Holidays)
2) You can only use the BB, CAS, jobs, worlds, and aspirations from the unlocked DLC.
You can unlock more DLC by:
A) Hitting certain Milestones:
1) MY WEDDING STORIES unlocks when you marry a sim (I actually didn't unlock this yet because my Sim and their partner never officially married/wanted to get married)
2) PARENTHOOD is unlocked when you become a parent
3) TODDLER STUFF is unlocked when the first baby becomes a toddler
4) KIDS ROOM unlocks when the first toddler becomes a child
5) HIGH SCHOOL YEARS unlocks when all child aspirations have been completed. (My founder had three children; their oldest child completed two child aspirations)
6) DISCOVER UNIVERSITY unlocks when all teen aspirations have been completed (I only have one teen at the moment whose original Aspiration was The Curator but I changed it to Overachiever when her younger siblings completed their child aspirations, I will let her go back to The Curator once she completes the Overachiever Aspiration)
7) REALM OF MAGIC, VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, and ISLAND LIVING unlock if you marry / have a child with that specific occult you found in one of your unlocked worlds.
(NOTE: I actually didn't have this rule at first about the occult packs, my founder fell in love with a Spellcaster and had their first child with him, so I used MCCC to erase his Spellcaster status away and let him live as human. But after a while I felt bad for the Sim and used MCCC to give him back his Spellcaster abilities then decided to add this rule)
8) GET FAMOUS unlocks when you become friends with at least 3 Celebrities (only if they wondered into your unlocked worlds)
NOTE:
This comment was made before GROWING TOGETHER came out, but if I had that DLC, I would have made it unlock when the first Newborn became an Infant. As well as, adding the new child Aspirations to the requirements for HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, but since my family already unlocked HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, I will just add in the DLC and my next generation has to complete the new child aspirations before unlocking another Expansion Pack.
B) Completing an adult aspiration unlocks DLC without aspirations (such as stuff packs, and kits)
C) Completing all aspirations that come with a certain DLC:
For example: You have to finish all of the Base Game Aspirations before unlocking GET TOGETHER, and if you already unlocked High School Years and Discover University, you have to complete all of those aspirations as well before unlocking GET TOGETHER.
Ahh same about 3 years, so glad to meet someone else who plays for a long time!! I really hope Growing Together will be as good as it looks
I don't think I have a systematic way of playing The Sims 4.
I just create a family/household and get started with playing.
I may design a backstory for the Sim too.
I try to make every Sim different to spice things up a bit.
Making them all a little different helps so much!!
Ya me too i like playing long stages with my sims too they rarely die😁😂 take forever to grow them 😁
Haha omg same they've been around so long 😅 I think my oldest is at 1200 days now 💀 I just made her a vampire though because I refuse to let her die hahaha but she was already around 1200 when I turned her into one lol
this video was super interesting, i loved it! i just started a new save the other day, my sims just got engaged so i'll definitely try to use these tips once they start their family!
Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy your new save!!
I love your channel its so fun watching other people have fun
Thank you so much for watching!!
I play in very long age spans too. Thank you for sharing more tips 💜. Love your video ✨
Love long life spans!! Thank you so much for watching!!
Love this strategy for assigning traits and storytelling!
Thank you so much for watching!!
I bounce around between short, normal or long lifespan, depending on my mood. Also a full house of Sims is the best. I love the chaos.
Ahh yay good luck with your legacy, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!!
This just came across my suggested and I'm so happy. I have an issue with not sticking to a family so I think this will really help. Thanks, love!
Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you liked the video!!
this vid inspired me to play differently! TY! ❤
So glad you enjoyed the video!! Thank you for watching!
Such a great video, love the ideas! I struggle sometimes with traits.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the video! Traits can be hard, I just like making my sims' lives messy LOL so I like doing realistic traits for them
@@starstruck_sims Haha, I enjoy the drama.
I'll be posting a let's play soon but I'll think of other gameplay ideas to share too!
yes thank you love all your advice
I cannot wait for the infant update because of the family gameplay!!!
Saame it looks like it will have a lot of good content!!
Great video - thank you so much! I'm totally going to binge watch your other videos now :)
Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it!!
You should get Growing Together (the latest expansion pack) you can play very much like this and it makes it even easier.
@@starstruck_sims yes they are always interacting! A lot of my sims are vampires so they have been friends for many sims years
Hi just saw your video in my time line.
That's really cool, would be useful for the random townies that my sims marry and they have no backstory haha 😅 Thank you so much for subscribing!!
how do you decide their adult aspirations?
The milestones are a great addition to the game too
You know, there's another way to play with all the kids are no longer related to each other. Just split them by saving... 😅
Im wondering, do you stream your legacy? This sounds fun.
I’m so glad this video came up in my suggestions! What mod did you use for the burglary? I’d love to see what mods you use to spice up gameplay
The sims are so awesome
Thank you!!
Please make a video about the serial killer LOL this family is so interesting you should do a whole like… story video on them.
With the other sims, I'll just occasionally check in to make sure they're alive and ready to go to work/school the next day
Can you make a video of ur whole fams backstory I NEED THE TEA
Haha thank you for asking!! I have an instagram where I'm posting the story, all of season 1 is on there and it's about halfway through season 2 and I plan to get back to it soon. The account is starstruck.stories !
This video sparks joy
Thank you!!
@@starstruck_sims no problem
How do you make a sim that looks good and how do you start a family off? Love your channel name im subscribed
@@starstruck_sims should I use cheats to get money?
@@soheliacelestialsiblings not having money can be a fun challenge on the sims, but if you're playing a rich family/celebrity drama, then I'd cheat for them to have money! Otherwise I try not to cheat for it, unless there's some kind of glitch (for example, sometimes my sims order drinks at the bar and it takes the money but the drink never appears. So I order again and cheat the money back that they lost)
I got so bored. I deleted all my saves, sims, builds & downloads. I regret nothing.
Hot take, take the same family to another sims game, since there are things you can't do in sims 4 that you can do in sims 2 and 3.
Haha good idea!! So many more things to do in the earlier games
Very interesting
Thanks for watching!!

How I never get bored with Sims 4: A disgusting amount of CC. The game is barely recognizable from the base game. Just the way I like it.
Haha nice! I can't live without my mods
