Broo! Im serbian and we had a class topic on Dictionary of the Khazars. Probably one of the best classes i had in middle school. Im saving up money to get the illustrated version plus the male and female versions
mieville and oyeyemi are my absolute favourite authors, so this video is bookmarked for future reference, i obviously need to try all of these when i can!! i feel like this video was made for me specifically haha, thank you so much for the recs!!!
Just wanted to write that I absolutely love the videos on this channel - I’ve been able to find so many books that I’ve gone on to read and love so thank you for that. Will definitely check out some of the books mentioned in this video.
I just finished Rabbits and really enjoyed it. Some weird books I recommend are: Kafka on the Shore - Haruki Murakami If on a Winters Night a Traveller - Italo Calvino
I loved "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" because of all the different elements in it like interviews and notes 😊 And as a mystery I loved "The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle" a lot. It is my favorite book now. There is so much to uncover and I really enjoyed the different character traits each character had. Even the setting was great ☺️
If you can find it, Les jardins statuaires, by Jacques Abeille (I don't know the name in english. ) It's a novel set in a world where farmers grow marble statues and it's told in an anthropologic way. It is really something.
Earthlings is a magnificent book. The weirdest book I've read was Pale Fire by Vladamir Nabokov (the guy who wrote Lolita), it sounds similar to S (although I've not read S) its a 1000 canto poem with footnotes, the poem is written by a fictional author and the footnotes by an unreliable narrator, who is a massive fan of the author of the poem and he may or may not have murdered the poet. The footnotes reference later footnotes, so you basically can't read it chronologically, and the poem in itself is very good without the footnotes. It was way too smart for me, and I imagine the intention is that you should have the patients to read it 3 or 4 times to see how everything interacts.
Hi. I have read House of Leaves and Raw Shark Texts. I find these books to be better than I can describe. I have read some other books that I also consider to be in the same league, but for different reasons; Galaxy Truckers, Confederacy of Dunces, Grapes of Wrath, 1984 and The Hobbit. I actually find myself upset when I find a book like House of Leaves or Raw Shark Texts, as, like a junkie, I find myself wondering where to get my next fix. Almost panicking that I will never find something soo 'life-affirming'. Can you recommend any books that are just 'beyond' other books? I know people will say this is all subjective, but I disagree with that notion. Some books just have 'magic'. Oh, another one to fit the pile would be The God of All Things. Thank you and thanks for your channel. Anyone else can pipe in too with their picks. Happy reading everyone.
You are the second person to recommend “S” to me within the past few weeks. It looks so interesting, but I can’t bring myself to pay Amazon’s asking price. Going to have to find it elsewhere. I happened to pick up The Family Fang at a library book sale last month, but haven’t read it yet. I’m totally guessing, but based on the name alone, my theory is that they are a family of vampires, and their ‘performances’ are exactly like the ones from Interview With. A Vampire 😬🤷🏼♀️😂
@@BookTimeWithRyan It started at $55 and went up from there. I saw it for as much as $150. And they were all from sellers, not from Amazon. And most of the copies were used for those prices.

The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa was amazing!
I highly recommend (Secrets of sanatan dharma) available on Amazon and Kindle.
