@@deerazor8280 You do realize that not everyone on PIPs can get a car right? When my dad first started on PIPs he could barely walk, still couldn't get the enhanced rate of PIPs and only those on the enhanced rate get Motability, and you are limited to the cars you can get, you can't just get anything you want. Plus you are still paying down payments on most cars and there isn't a chance that you would get this car and nothing from the Cupra brand is available, Seat wise you are looking at a £4,000 downpayment on a 1.5l 150bhp Tarraco, and that's as high as the specs go that are accessible to you. Most models you can get are less than 200bhp, a few hybrids are higher than that, but they are slim. If you are disabled enough to be eligible for an Enhanced rate, spending £65 pounds a week of your allowance isn't always the most practical thing (the entirety of your Mobility allowance, means you would also have to outright buy yourself a wheelchair, which can cost more then the downpayment on a car depending on your needs, especially if you are talking electric chairs. If you are in need of a new Wheelchair accessible vehicle that can cost upwards of £20,000 downpayment for something like a Seat Alhambra, obviously, there are cheaper models than that but they are essentially vans with windows and lack on safety for people with families compared to something like the Alhambra.

People praised Tesla Model 3 for it's spartan, toy looking dashboard, and the other manufacturers decided to save themselves some money and do the same - slap a cheap tablet in the middle of it and call it a day.

Why do you keep rambling about the configuration? Normal people will tweak with it the first day of excitement, find their preferred setup and forget about it. What's the big deal?

Had my VZ2 310 for less than 2 weeks. Fantastic car. Touchscreen is fine and just need getting used to the set up. Looks great and so nice to drive. Very very rapid. Mines magnetic grey metallic with black nappa leather.

I have to disagree with the „too much tech“ critique.
I was always annoyed by VW AG tech because it was so plain and you couldn‘t really customize it. For me changing the looks of the tachometer is no customization. I want to put exactly the information I want and position it exactly where I want in the exact look that I want. Finally this comes a step closer to true personification options.
But my true desire would be to customize all the icons, uploading my own pictures and dashboards into a manufacturers cloud and re-use it for example in a car sharing setup. Where I just hop in via phone and when starting the car my personal dash shows up.
More digital customization could also be a huge cash-cow for manufacturers via micro-transactions.
The whole VW group needs to realise that most of people prefer physical buttons over tapping a screen. At least for the basic things.
They know that, but putting everything on the screen is cheaper.

How can you have too much technology? Just use the bits you need or want to use. Most of the cars Ive bought have got loads of functions that I hardly ever if ever use but it’s still good to have the option. I just don’t get how anyone could regard this as a negative but hey ho!

Agree about the lack of buttons, in fact I think my current 2018 Seat Ateca top spec is just the perfect combination between enough digital menus you use to adjust the car to your taste before starting the ride and physical buttons for things you use to operate while driving. Things like climate control or seat heating is just nuts to have to dive inside digital menus while driving. I’d be really pissed off if I was wishing to spend the 45k it costs to change from the Ateca.
Very good presentation and I like this new model but a pity we won’t get this in Australia- not sure about the name though. Good point about the myriad of features that can only be accessed by the touch screen making this a real safety issue. Bring back buttons or a centrally located I drive type wheel.
Defo a crossover (regular). I love the copper, but I reckon it'd look better on 20" rims, instead of 19s.
That would cost a lot more in development, skyrocketing the formentor’s price
If you lived in a place with real winters, you would instead check if those Brembo calipers allow something below 18". I guess not.
20" rims with lower profile tyres would fit easily, 21"even.
@@melluzi This car is not a real offroader. It's a coupe hatchback with the attempt of becoming an SUV, if anything. This car was built to thrill, not to go rallying or offroading. As for the wheel size... I agree 19/18 is enough (anything beyond is usually absurd).
@@massimolettuce Depends on the type of offroad. In certain situations Impreza is better offroader than Land Cruiser.
But yes, you're right, that's not what it is built for.

That’s a fantastic car! I was going for a Q3 Sportback - not an RSQ3 but now I’m seriously considering this! Love the little design features not too bothered by the entertainment tech stuff that’s the way is going anyway!
Quick question though.... the map system...is it Google maps?
You get android auto and apple CarPlay
Full support for Google Maps and Apple Maps. Sadly they work only in the middle screen. The driver screen displays maps and directions only from Seats own map solution which I don't bother using as Google Maps is just better.
I was in a similar position. Had been eyeing up the Q3 sportback black edition for months. And yes it's a bigger car with more practicality and can claim it's more 'premium' but for what you get for your money the cupra formentor outclasses it in every department. The stuff you get as standard is incredible compared to Audi, the engine and performance that you get for the equivalent outlay of money for an Audi is much better, the tech you get is much more than you get as standard in an Audi. Some of the tech isn't even available as optional extras in the Audi. I reckon to get the closest spec as possible you would have to pay another 5-10k to get the Audi the same as the cupra. Anyway I opted against the Q3 sportback black edition and order me a VZ2 formentor in metallic magnetic grey, it arrives on the new plate early march. Can't wait
I was at the same doubt here... test-drived both and went for the Cupra. The difference in power is just ridiculous, plus the Audi does not feel more "premium", only the screen with more resolution. Not worth the price, the Curpa just blows the Audi out of the water.
I want something that can keep my family safe while can throw it around with some power when alone, this ticks all my boxes. But since I'm only a few months into my leon lease I'll wait till the price comes down alittle on these

@ExtremeÑo WanChU I don't get the 'Skoda make the worst cars'. A lot of Skoda's current models are better build than the VW counterparts, one example of this is that the new Octavia has gas bonnet struts where as the new Golf does without. Seems to me that VWG are changing their marketing strategy and that maybe Skoda and even Seat are no longer the budget brands within the group...
Seat is considered at the bottom range, with Skoda in the middle, then VW, then Audi.

What value is there in repetitively comparing an electric motor performance and an internal combustion engine? What's the point? Regarding the tech and menus, he should have spent more time to get to know the system before going out to review it, and, for potential buyers, they will probably hold the car for some years, so it is good to keep discovering over time, which may keep it fresh for longer. I'd like to see a review by Thomas for the formentor.

This is a crossover. It looks sharp but I think it would have been better if it was slightly higher like an SUV
4:20 in my suggested video feed it shows one with the side profile of the AstinMartin DBX (it’s the video from Harry’s Garage), from that side profile in the two videos the Cupra and the Aston are almost indistinguishable

I still _somewhat_ understand making Cupra a separate brand if it's exclusively sporty cars but if they're going to sell this with a basic 150hp engine you can get in a Leon what is the point of not just making it a Seat?
Volkswagen will not allow a Seat to be more comfortable etc. than a Volkswagen. Seat can be more sporty but in terms of materials, build quality etc. Volks must be better than Seat so that people will not simply go and buy Seat. This is their strategy for a while. Skoda is utilitarian, Seat is dynamic & young, Volkswagen is perfect mixture, Audi is premium. With Cupra they create another brand without harming this hierarchy. Just mega-companies and their complex ways of dominating the market. It is very sad that I can not have an Audi with Skoda's utterly useful simple features.

16:30 disagree with the "too much choices" (eg. for icockpit themes or other settings), it should be always like that so everyone pick the one they like... most likely you'll set your preference on one and not change while driving like you discovering the car.

I politely disagree. Too many choices are bad for the final customer, that just can’t find out the real “personality” of the car. It’s happening the same with headlights: today you can buy an Audi A4 (or almost any other midsize) with AT LEAST” three different headlights configuration. That’s insane, and it draws back a lot pf the personality of a model. Years ago, when you saw a certain “light signature” in your rearview mirror you knew right away that an A5 or a 3series was approaching. I find this trend just marketing cowardness.

sebxx no no, you got me wrong. Customization and personalization aftermarket is one thing and it’s totally fine! I don’t agree with the hypocrisy of auto makers policies that don’t have the guts to bet on one design. A thermostat is meant to allow you to change temperature, as en engine is meant to rev @ different regimes. What I don’t like are multiple personalities to suit the taste of more people, at the expense of a more complex infotainment, multiple parts stock, poor base models at high prices to maintain all the circus. No I still don’t like this policy.

Aggressive looks,I like what SEAT and CUPRA are doing these days.There not many SUV's I'd consider the Formentor or the CUPRA Ateca or the Alfa Romeo Stelvio are the sportiest out there.
I hope they can decide when and where to buy some paint for it...that primer will new look good for long.
I like it though need to see in the flesh before I'd commit. My Leon Cupra 300 goes back in a couple of months and the one thing that spoils it is that it has too much power to put down (being both fwd & manual) The Formentor overcomes this as well as being likely to be more comfortable on a long journey, lets hope the lease deals can be competitive!
I'm the same as you with the 300 manual. The new Cupra Leon will have a 4wd option but I'm not sure the exact release date for it unfortunately.
Like previous model I think 4drive will be limited to the ST version.
I have a leon cupra st 4drive and so easy to put the power down, though fwd is a lot of fun

I don't understand why there is a 1.5tsi 150. If I am driving my old model SEAT Leon 1.5tsi 150 FR I'm not pulling over if I see one of these behind me ! I think smaller engine options devalue the brand.
Volkswagen wants to get rid of SEAT in long term and substitute it with CUPRA. They want the Alfa Romeo of VW group.
VW won't admit it but all shots confirm this move. I bet SEAT will be disbanded in 10 years.

At first I liked it but now I thnik it's just another crossover. The profile is very similar to a "Seatized" Qashqai with a logo and finish of a gaming laptop... I doubt this will be a success.

This is lifted crossover but with lower suspension, it is sporty but you can get it with 150 hp engine, what do you not understand?

With your statement re the menu’s, impatience is the problem not the minimalist design. Spend some time with your car whilst NOT driving it and learn the functions just like any electronic device. You’ll soon know just like me typing where everything is. And, you’ll have your preferences that you’ll set and forget. Whinging about design of interfaces won’t change the brand’s decisions. Like buttons on phones to touchscreen smartphones, we’ll get used to it just fine.
I hate SUVs, but I saw this Formentor at the SEAT dealership last month and it was really striking. So much so I considered trading in my old Leon Cupra R mk1 and BMW E92 330i for the Formentor.
But no, I'm happy as is. The wife loves the Formentor though. If they decide to bring the 5 cyl petrol engine to this car, that could be enough to sway me.
I want buttons and knobs too. An HUD would be nice as well. I don't like having to navigate through the menus for simple settings. Far too distracting on the move, takes the eyes off the road more than I like.

It cannot be a SUV, to be a SUV it must have the body on frame. Example, F150 is a truck but ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator are using the same platform body on frame, Gmc Sierra with Gmc Yukon are using the same platform with Chevrolet Silverado and tahoe and Cadillac Escalade...
Logo still reminds me of two people trying to sit on one toilet, touching their rear-ends...
I like all the other Curpa models but this one just looks a bit odd, I am not a fan of the exterior design.
Yeah reviews of Arteon R, Tiguan R, Cupras.. and other Concern cars. Pretty good. Then you realize that if you want to buy one of these you cant, because they literally dont exist atm. (Czech. Rep)

In this car for what do you need a Brembro Brake ? 310 PS oh wow ! My Focus ST has also 320 PS and dont need a Brembo Brake for 3000€ additional. If you drive a car like this you really dont need a Brembro Brake only if your drive on Nürburgring every day........
Agree with others that the multiple options aren’t an issue for an owner. You set it up and play for a day then leave as you want. Not a great review for a Cupra that is starting to define the brand and moving away from Seat. Where’s Brian???

After 3 Seat's, I feel my Leon cupra ST may be my last Seat/Cupra :( I don't like the Cupra accent styling and this crossover is just diluting a name with a lot of good hot hatch heritage.
