      ..but for a few grand more, you could have an actual BMW Gran Coupe, & the girls. get no girls riding a Buick.
      no offense to Buick, my papa loved Buick, got me to Kindergarten, road trips, safely. but guys invest in cars for sexual attraction to some degree too, Buick as brand, doesnt have the sex. but older, patriotic buyers will love it.

      Prince Mauhdi III You're a little fuckboy aren't you? People like you make me sad that you choose a overpriced, unreliable car just because you think it'll get girls when in fact it doesn't most of the time. Girls don't care what brand of car a guy has anymore as long as it isn't completely falling apart and it's clean. This is why I hate straight guys. 😂

    Buick really needs to do something dramatic to shake off its "old man" image, but GM is probably holding back Buick in driving dynamics and luxury to prevent Buick from cannibalizing Cadillac sales. Although...mainstream cars are becoming so nice that it eliminates the need for this "premium" class. The only reason Buick is still around is because of the Chinese market.

      The problem for Buick is that GM already has a luxury brand in Cadillac. So Buick has to be more luxurious than Chevy but less the Cadillac. That’s a really hard spot to be with customers demanding more luxury standard on most of their cars for less money.

    This car is a hidden gem. I had no idea this car even existed until I had my vacation in Europe. Uber driver had this Opel Insignia and I loved it. When I returned back stateside I went for a test drive and WOW, it is a first GM car I really want to buy. It is much nicer inside compared to a typical Chevy, it has a hatch, sufficient leg room for all passengers. I wish wagon was available without gas-guzzling AWD option. It is designed and built in Germany. Excellent value, nothing beats it in price/room/features considering discounts. Kia Stinger is horrible inside, super cramped and uncomfortable.

      Of course superficial americans like you wouldn't be able to tell what makes this European car luxurious. It's not fake chrome and lots of shiny bits, it's high quality materials and minimalist design. Unlike something like a Cadillac, this won't rattle itself to pieces in 3 months.

      I’ve been saying this forever and my only concern is that if they do decide to finally bring back my favorite g-body and definitely top 10 outta every vehicle in my lineup is they will do to much and ruin it because the current regal isn’t going to cut it with me it’s nice but I’d rather they come out with the actual grand national body forget about the aerodynamics fuel economy and all that they can even use fiberglass like corvette or lighter metals and bring the inner workings up to today’s sport cars and most definitely bring the interior to modern day worse thing with 80’s vehicles all that plastic inside

      Daniel Castaneda I mean, if they’re on track to sell 200,000 vehicles, then plenty of people like their vehicles. The one he drove was fully loaded at 39k, so it sort of is a Camry, Accord competitor. Think of it as a slightly nicer Malibu with a hatch. Almost like a reborn Malibu Maxx, if anyone remembers that car. People need to stop falling for the marketing mumbo jumbo the car companies like to use in adds.

    I think I might be the only youngest one(16) to actually really like Buick, it’s always caught my attention, especially the Verano, I feel it’s more for me, because of how compact it is but with enough horsepower to not let someone go around you on a 1 lane road, cause someone was trying to pass my grandpa on the right side when it’s not even a lane and he just opened that car up, had enough power to actually throw you back in your seat

    • @v13r3r
      @v13r3r 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've owned a Verano for 3 years. Bought it when I was 25. I think it's a great first car as it handles well with the power it has. It's sharp looking and the interior is great so you will enjoy driving it and feel confident at the wheel. Since it's based of the older Cruze, it's very easy to maintain and the 2.4L can get you 9.1L/100km (Canadian here) if you drive it right (11L/100km advertised for city).

  • @pvva88

    I feel like sofyan completely read the hell out of the interior. I don't see Buick as luxury, I see it as a premium maker, like gmc to Chevy or Acura to Honda. I can't wait for the gs review of this car

    • @paulklimo2396
      @paulklimo2396 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vernon Atchison my thoughts exactly. Reviewers keep comparing Buick to Audi Lexus etc. It fits a unique segment in that it's a step above Chevrolet but below Cadillac. Hence the difficulty with reviewers making comparisons. I think it is a great looking car.

  • @HunterDugasVideos
    @HunterDugasVideos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    The Mazda6 interior is more luxurious than this by a huge margin. It sucks because I like supporting companies that don’t get attention but Buick is just like GMC. They’re rebadged Chevrolet’s. Cadillac does better but they really need to differentiate their brands more in my opinion.

    I am so happy that the handsome Buick Regal Sportsback AWD in Essence trim with both Driver Confidence pkgs. matches up to my Volvo S60 in nearly every way. Same car (current model S60) will be $4,000+ more than the Buick with the same safety and performance features. I test drove one last week and it was quieter and smoother than my Volvo, yet felt as luxurious and secure! In July, if the pricing is competitive, you'll see me in the Regal! And it has more BMW visual appeal than you think.
    Great review, Sofyan! But remember, we baby boomers are looking for an 'American Car' like this. Kia's Stinger market penetration will be negligible. But Volvo, Acura, BMW, MB, Lexus and Audi, better market accordingly because they will lose customers. The hatchback feature is just the icing on the cake!

    The Stinger does have one shortfall however, and that is space. It only has a tad more than 40 cubic feet of storage with the back seats folded down and the Buick has 61 cubic feet. So the more practical lift back is clearly the Buick, but the Stinger likely bests the Buick in every other measurable factor, except perhaps weight. The Stinger is pretty heavy in AWD layout as well, at just over 4,000 lbs. That TourX is certainly intriguing as many have mentioned. We don't get many wagons here, and every true car guy/gal is a wagon fan at heart.

    My 2013 Taurus and my 2015 Fusion (current car) both had paddle shifters and I found them pretty much useless. Very difficult to use if you were not going in a straight line. I'd much rather have the floor shift to access the gears like the Regal.

    11:25 The interior reminds you of a regular family sedan? THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS A REGULAR FAMILY SEDAN! It's an Opel Insignia, developed completely in Germany on base of a GM Platform. It was never intended to be a luxury car but a nice-looking good quality affordable mid-class sedan! So please keep that in mind!
    Although we got far more options on this car in Germany. There are no blank buttons in the top model and we also got rear heated seats.
    So I don't quite get GMs logics: In Europe this car is on sale as a mid-class sedan with more luxury options than in the US, where it is promoted as a luxury car.
    Gladly Opel is a part if PSA now, so you can't get fooled by GM for buying a regular sedan anymore by thinking it is anywhere near luxury.
    This car competes with VW Passat/Arteon and Ford Mondeo or Mazda 6.
    Cheers

The rear hatch was pretty nice too. wide open space to put anything in it. If only GM had a sporty, affordable, youthful brand like idk PONTIAC. Why did you kill Pontiac, GM? Why? My 1998 Grand Prix GT is still my favorite car I’ve ever driven. The G8s always draw attention when they drive by as well.

      tbraun21 GM ruined Pontiac. by the end of its life it was nothing but rebaged Australian cars like the holden g8 and japanese cars like the Vibe which was a Toyota Matrix. Buick is a core brand that 80% of its market is in China. Kill Buick and it could devastate GM. if it were up to me I would have killed off GMC and brought back Oldsmobile and Pontiac back.

      I absolutely agree. Pontiac had a youth-oriented marketing image, while Buick just does not sound exciting or cool. But it is a great car, I went for a test drive and I loved it. GM also invested a lot of money into Oldsmobile and then killed the brand, but Intrigue and Aurora were great cars. Then GM had new good looking Pontiac G6 and G8. New Vibe/Matrix looked great and had offered amazing interior room. But then GM killed Pontiac. Worst freaking management ever.

    Buick is more a cut above other cars than truely luxurious.
    For what it costs ( $25980) It's not bad at all.
    Note the hatchback rear. That adds a huge utilitarian advantage. So, it's good for getting to & from work and the kids around town in comfort Monday through Friday, and for hauling a few sheets of plywood or drywall home for remodeling the basement on the weekends!

    Transmission is a GM design - but also a Ford design. The jointly shared development on their new 9 speed transmissions to share costs. Eight speed is from Toyota. The two blank buttons on the right when describing the shifter are for features not available in the USA (automatic parallel parking for example, only available in Australia and Germany). Nice review, gives you a good idea what you get with the standard loaded model, although no view of the enlarged trunk due to the hatch. Thanks for going to Texas to review this for us.

      Derek Jackson agreed. Buick was content for decades marketing to the older/retiree, family market. They are changing because they are being forced to. Its a sleek ride, but when you talk to most 20-40 year olds, Buying a buick is no where at the top of their list, IF it’s even on their list at all...
      Buick has an interesting dilemma, you change the design and interior too much, you turn off the market you’ve spent a long time appealing to. If you don’t do something drastic with the design, you stay safe with your current demographic.

      Zachary Grigg uhh, Buick has always been a step below Cadillac genius, that's it's position in the GM line up, been like that since the 1930s. so here was the line up cheapest to most expensive, Chevy, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and most expensive CADILLAC.

    • @johnsmythe1841
      @johnsmythe1841 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      *Zachary* If you listened to the first 30 seconds of the video, you'd see that Buick sold TWICE as many units as Lincoln, so, yeah, they're competing quite well. Audi sold about 218,000 units in the US, so Buick is competing quite well. Worldwid, Buick sold about 1.2 million cars and Audi sold about 1.8 million, so still quite competitive. Since Buick cars sold in the US are on the same platform as Opel (owned by GM until July of this year) , one must include Opel sales of 1 million, which means Opel/GM/Buick outsold Audi.
      Lexus sold 317,000 units world wide in 2016, so Buick is kicking the shit out of them.
      YOU may not be a fan of Buick, and that's okay. But when you say things that are obviously incorrect and easily negated by a 5 minute web search, then you must be given the facts.
