Honestly this feels to me like Mantic Games took the best parts of Star Wars Legion and Warhammer 40K Killteam, and then improved upon it even further. Really excited to pick it up!
Core mechanics of the game are all from Mantic's tried and tested Deadzone system, which comfortably predates both Star Wars Legion and (the current iteration of) Kill Team. Seems Flashpoint plays broadly the same, with smaller forces that are much tougher individually and with more powerful battlefield pickups. I'd urge any prospective Flashpoint players who find a September release date a little far away to pick up a Deadzone starter.
At about 7:41 you start checking damage from the hammer attack, 5 successful attacks versus 2 saves. 2 ATK dice go from the saves leaving 3. Then you talk about the shields but don't dismiss any of the ATK dice for them. Was that a mistake or something to do with the hammer's AP attribute?
This was just a mistake (it had been a long day!). The 3 remaining successes plus an ability of the Hammer to auto remove one shield would have taken out the 2 shields and one point of damage would have gotten through the Armour 2 as the Hammer has AP1. It was the right result but just missed it when explaining. Sorry!
@blackjacklegacy just curious when you fight a second time with the hammer, is that correct with the action economy? Move is a short action, isn't fighting the first time a short action? So would you be able to fight again? Just making sure I understand it correctly. Thanks!
@@PimpOshea0508 fighting (or Assaulting as it’s called) is a long action however you get a free assault if you move into an enemies cube. You can’t fight a second time unless you have the extra fight command die. I think I made that mistake too as I was mentally fried!
@@BlackJackLegacy oh gotcha so since you used your short action to move into contact with the other player, you couldn't technically use a long action to fight so they give you a fight for free. And the only way you could have fought again is if you had the fight command dice. It's ok man, I watch experienced players screw up all the time and this is a new game
I wonder if the idea is to use the shotgun to stay out of melee, whereas the gravity hammer wants to be right next to the target so knocking them back would be counterproductive.
Got my Spartan Edition Pre-ordered!!!!!! Stoked for this!!

Looks really fun!
Red vs Blue!
Oh no big things are coming! covenant anyone?
Our lips are sealed...and glad you enjoyed the demo!
There are elites in the spartan pack!

Can’t wait!😊
i want marines, i wonder if they will expand it from a skirmish game to more wargaming.
I really hope so! Would love to see full on wars with vehicles, marines, different covenant types, ODST, etc.
Looks fun, but a shotgun has knockback, and the gravity hammer doesn’t??

Makes sense from a gameplay standpoint. I just could have sworn that the hammer in the actual game slammed people back.
@@kirkmathes3525 Gravity hammer in game does knock back players and vehicles in game
It does have knockback but I just missed it explaining it in the demo - it had been a long weekend of demos!
Meh, I'm more interested in UNSC vs Covenant battles. If I wanted to play Halo multiplayer I'll just go boot up the game.
I would say stay tuned, they have a lot more to come. They can only show what they are allowed.
The larger of the two versions comes with a team of Elites. 16 Spartans, enough for 2 people to have all the base Spartan Options, and then 4 Elites.
