Strategy games need the casual player base (Hence why the campaign has been a very important part for the most successful ones. SupCom1 had a good one, C&C had a great one, Starcraft had very good ones, Warcraft 3 had an amazing one, Supcom2 had ... one) Allways warms my heart to see a new 100-400 player in Supcom FAF.
I am a huge fan of SupCom Games and I am really looking forward to the release of this game. I appreciate the transparency and details in this video/interview. Clearly this project has a lot of passion and people on it that understand why we love SupCom games. The whole Kickstarter part clears things up nicely. Thank you for the video!
I hope there's a slider to tone down the line thickness of radar/range rings and trajectory lines. The thick lines doesn't help the scale of the units. It makes the units look even smaller to me.
Ehhhh.... again.... Sanctuary has lots of holes spread all over it's surface that let a bit if light out, which is reflected back on surface with mirror satellites. There is a recent QnA video on this channel - you might want to check it out
Empire at War is another game without a modern competitor. (Think total war with Star Wars spaceships and ground forces.) It's kept alive through mods, but I don't know if the game itself is popular enough to justify a new version of it. An indie company might be able to pull it off since there's less overhead. Obviously in order to do Star Wars you'd have to work with Lucas Arts, but a game could follow the same sort of design philosophy without using the SW ip (if you allow for modding support, someone is bound to make a Star Wars mod anyway.) I think one thing you guys have going for you is your project feels like SupCom: Forged Alliance. The other recent games in the genre (BAR) feel more like SupCom 2, which isn't a compliment. Anyway. I wish this project success, and hope you guys make a killing so you can make an expansion to flesh everything out and make your dreams reality.
They don't know yet. He said possible kickstarter in July, but the kickstarter keeps getting pushed back because they keep getting funding and don't need it (which is a good thing.)
