Idea….you could replace the outlet covers with dark ones to match shelf brackets. They would stand out less. But it looks great!
That’s not a bad idea. I thought about paintable outlet covers too.

Hi Becka, Great job!! It looks beautiful. The green makes it pop and stand out more. Yes I agree about the handles. They look too shiny with the stile of your piece of furniture that they are on and the rest of how you lightened the shelves. But I do love how you made it over. 👍👏🥰

I actually tried rub and buff before the spray paint a while ago and just didn’t love it.

I've done three projects using heavy duty easy off and had no issues. It totally bleaches the wood. I'm not sure why it works for some and not others, but once I sprayed it on and let it sit for 15-30 minutes, I came back with a stiff bristle brush, keeping it wet, while giving it a good scrub down. On my dining room table top I just used one of those shower type stiff sponges.
I think the handles would look better with some kind of a patina, but it's really about what you like. Rub n Buff may work. I do some metalsmithing and every now and then I'll use a small torch to patina the brass.

Oh I may have to look into a patina tutorial. That sounds intriguing! Idk if the oven cleaner method was harder because of the poly and stain on the shelves. I’m going to try it on a few more pieces and we will see. Love the results though.

I like the gold but if you would like a slight change go with rub n buff and add to your preference.

@@sincerelybecka3 I have found it can be tricky too. I like to use a makeup sponge triangle and dab leave it alone and buff it after it dries a little. The update looked great and the shelves turned out so well!
