Another consideration when travelling to students houses is what you lose in teaching time. I don't travel, so a student at 4pm, 4.30pm and 5pm are exactly that. If I were to travel to the house of my 4.30pm, I couldn't teach at 4pm or 5pm. That cost would be passed on to the parent and everyone loses.
Well, yes and no. If the parent feels that cost is worth it to them to not have to travel to you, that’s their choice. I agree it’s a premium service and that should be reflected in the prices.
Priority 1 will always be the business. I've seen terrible teachers but because they have negotiated a proper contract they are covered and all policies are understood.
Thank You For the Video I Teach Music Every Wednesday and Sunday on TH-cam most time lap steel guitar some guitar and piano Thank you and have A Great Week !
Love the "if you arnt a great player, then dont teach" In the youtube land of closet musicians teaching without ever playing professionally. Great video, very realistic.
How can you teach your instrument if you don't know how to play it? A home can be more convenient but you need some kind of physical structure for students to go to and enough space to conduct all businesses, It is best that you have a music degree and home some kind of background in piano pedagogy. The most important thing for me was the beginning of the teaching season when all students came back from vacation (1 month) and again went back to their learning routines, was to get them ready for the first recital. That occurred towards the end of October or the middle of November. A friend of mine who opened his first studio did well on opening night by inviting the town mayor, the city council, and prominent musicians in the area to the event. That put him on the area musical map. I will do that when I have my first music studio.

@@ColourfulKeys Sure. I'm Joseph from Ghana and thought of starting music teaching as a part-time business and your video was really insightful.
