There's two things about this episode I liked, one being the Mels/River twist, the other being the scene where she's being flirtatious whilst trying to bump him off. Overall River is one of the best characters in Dr Who yet.
River here seems colder than Mels did. I wonder if that's a regeneration thing, or just her programming kicking in now that the time to kill the Doctor has come.
Well when you also think about it she hasn’t fallen in love with him yet. The only thing she wants is to kill him. So the later River isn’t as cold becasue she’s been changed by the doctor. She loves him. She’s a different woman then. I mean she even says “I’m not a marriage person.” And then goes on to marry The Doctor.
@@morrigancrowwatch7194 Also 'regeners' tend to spend day 1 as if they just made a whole stash of coke magically disappear and their new white powder mustache is unrelated.
Seems like Eleven was channeling Ten with the "She poisoned me. But I'm fine--Well, no. I'm dying." and Nine with "I've got a plan: Not dying. See? Fine."
this entire segment is just "you may have outsmarted me, but i outsmarted your outsmarting!" Edit: apparently moffat also wrote the comedy sketch "The Curse of Fatal Death" which had a similar sequence
"You are not a psychopath" 2:58 Can't help wondering who Amy was so desperate to reach here - her (formally a baby) daughter, her good friend Mels, or her best friend's girlfriend River. Yes, they're all the same person, but you can hear how emotional Amy was, and I can't help wondering what she was thinking/feeling here.
Two things: 1. i love how flustered the doctor gets when river was pressed against him and did that whole "hello benjamin" thing. 2. Am i the only guy who alex kingstons husky voice makes you shiver
This is The Doctor outsmarting River's outsmarting of his outsmarting of her outsmarting of his outsmarting of her outsmarting of his outsmarting of her outsmarting
Well to be fair it's a lot to take in at once! Their baby that was kidnapped (only a few months ago in their timelines), their childhood best friend, and the murderer imprisoned in Stormcage they know ends up getting together with the Doctor is all the same person. Also they don't have any parental feelings toward River Song, so seeing her in that body probably doesn't help.
It's explained in the episode before this: River Song is the backtranslation of Melody Pond translated into the language of the people of the Gamma Forest.
@@DivineDefect, well. The Doctor was a child from another dimension, who was able to regenerate. Galifreian scientist replicated his DNA and inserted to herself and other galifreians, who then became Timelords. This is current canon, which contradicts River Song plotline and also makes our Doctor special not because of his morale and decisions, but because of his genesis, genes, essence. To be special you have to be born special, Chibnall says.
@@hrzmann Ah doctor who is a cheesy fanfiction now. Thank for catching me up... I really want to watch Doctor Who again, can't wait for Chibnall to go.
Anyone notice at 3:35, when you see the docto out of focus in the background, watch his hand. He notices something's wrong
I did!
Yep
I saw that as well
“Poisoned me. But I’m fine. Well no, I’m dying. But I’ve got a plan.”
“What plan?”
“Not dying see? Fine.”
That’s a mood right there people 😂

Maybe the conditioning had an easier time to kick in because Melody, like all Time Lords, takes a while to brake in the new body format?
It’s a regeneration thing. Each Regen of the Doctor has a different personality from the last.

She's thinking god damn my life is a mess, the hell with this timey whimy bs.
Watch Amy at 2:12 she is totally giving River the classic "mom" look too bad it's River and it has no effect lol

That moment when you realize you’ve been raising your daughter as you grew up.
one day Im going to watch all the Doctor Who episodes with melody/river in them in the order she lived them instead of the doctor.
It's been 10 years.. did you ever do it?
Did you do it? 😅

rory + banging in head = the master omg
Doctor: I have a plan...
Amy: what plan?
Doctor: NoT dYiNg...
i'm dead hahahah
They can't just stop flirting Lmao!
Mels/River Song regenration, didn't see that coming.
I think Amy and Rory were being horrifying to Melody here especially considering she is their daughter!!!!

And here is when you notice that Steven Moffat also wrote Sherlock
"my bespoke psychopath" 😍
Moffat doing a Sherlock yet again.
and that kids is how you met your mother
I love it. She’s trying to kill him, and he’s flirting
I just realized something.
Melody Pond and River Song both have in their name something music related. Melody and Pond, and Song and River
It's explained in the episode before this: River Song is the backtranslation of Melody Pond translated into the language of the people of the Gamma Forest.
"Hello, sweetie" KISS "You're dead".
Figures.
The doctor seems to have a thing for switching out bananas and guns 🍌
2:44- Expelliarmus! :D
Anybody else notice how they switched the gun for a bananna again. First with 9 now again here with 11!
"Don't drop the banana!"
"Why not?!"
"Good source of potassium!"
shut up dad im focusing on a dress size
lol this cracks me up
We need more back story's like this with great twists at the end of a season or episode in doctor who today..... like if u agree
1:07-1:50
doctor, Amy & Rory:- me and my Friends
river:- Science teacher all drunk up!!
I want river's outfit!
Melody Pond the closed loop
@slimmdogg2968 I) Of course; that's one of the funniest parts!
II) I don't know if you're the only guy, but her voice makes me shiver and I'm a girl.
Shouldnt Melody Pond be called River Song already cause of the forest having no pond stuff?
The HAIR!
This is my favorite scene
@EastendersGirlz i love it when she's regenarated and she goes 'oh lets see then...'
@BabzyAbzy yep, they where not killed till us landed on moon, that was after ww2
That scream tho
How the fuck did the poison survive regeneration
Realising it's jodhpurs and not jumpers 11years later.
holy shit all the comments are 8 years old
add on to my comment:
shiver with arousal?
@sternberqzookie cool
Alex kingston is boss.
River=pond
Song=melody
River is the only water in the forest
I miss Dr. Who before it became Dr. What.
@BabzyAbzy Sounds like one of the motorbikes outside.
Can't this comment section just reply to certain people
Yep It is confusing
If he dies though, can’t he just regenerate?
@jjfan05 LOL! Just noticed that!
Doctor who?
And Russell thinks the doctors gay he has lost his mind
They ripped off Leverage. Then again Leverage itself is a ripoff.

this was literally just this CalebCity sketch:

Oh yes, she's able to regenerate because... Why, Chibnall?
Because she was conceived in the Tardis, also Chibnall worked on this episode?
