One of the biggest problems with ships where you are forced to lob over islands or shoot from smoke (Atlanta, Smolensk etc) is that you are so dependent on team spotting, which can be unreliable.
De-planing a carrier with an Atlanta or Cleveland back in the day was great fun. I remember AA cruisers needing to stick close by friendly carriers to prevent attacks from the air or surface since carriers were more fragile back then. To think WG actually originally intended for carriers to be supported by ships is crazy now. lol
WOWS back in the day: CV are actually fragille ships, without major defence most players: "Protect the carrier he can't defend himself properly but maybe win us the game" WOWS today: CV get automated ASW, automated 1min DCP, strongest AA in the game litterally every player: "leave this idiot alone and i hope he dies first for playing CV"
@@williambachelor9067 Yes, Hood is one of the few battleships that has the Defensive Anti-Air Fire consumable. With the carrier rework, Hood will be better because the Defensive Anti-Air Fire consumable will be better. That would be a better time to feature it.
I absolutely love the Atlanta. I got her years ago after watching Yuro's video on her. Probably one of, if not my favorite cruiser in the game. I know you mentioned it, but Atlanta's DFAA still shreds planes. I think I run it more than Hydro. It's so fun. Started my love for the premium American super-light cruiser line.
Thanks for uploading this. Atlanta was my first premium ship, and it has been very transferable when playing its sister Flint, as well as the Pan-Asia counterparts Chumphon, Sejong and Jinan. I will some day get Austin and San Diego but for more I am very comfortable with what I have and they are always good to return to.
It has a very different play style. With Sandy, you're in more of a support role. It has fantastic conceal, dfaa and hydro on separate slots, and the dfaa is the destroyer one, so you delete t6 and most t8 carrier planes, and make t10 carriers second guess attacking you. It does have SAP, but it's the worst SAP in game, and has the same damage as Atlanta HE without the fire change. It also has plane based asw. Combine that with hydro, and you can potentially be a subs worst nightmare. It also had the funny button (reload booster), which allows you to absolutely delete destroyers, and do a ton of damage to other ships. You'll rarely break 100k damage in a game, but your battle impact will be huge. It also has the party trick of showing full broadside and only taking overpens. Overall great ship, especially at its tier.. Watashi wa numba wun.
I have the San Diego, I'm considering the Atlanta since I already have a leftover 2.5K dubs, I want to try her because the SAP isnt doing too much against enemy BBs and it has Radar at Tier VII. But then again theres also the Kidd and Boise I'm looking at, thoughts?
@Jedi_Master_Obi-Wan_Kenobi66 . Personally, I'd get the kidd or the Boise. Both good ships in their own right. The problem with the Atlanta is that it'll offer similar experience as the San Diego at T7. I'd still take the SD over the Atlanta: although SAP dmg is on the low side (it's the same dmg parameters as HE), her flatter shell arc & heal means you get to hit things & be able to sustain for much longer
Atlanta is my "go to" ship when I have combat missions or naval battles that reward main battery hits. It's absolute murder on DD's, and you can farm quite a bit of HE damage on BB's. For cruisers, it's really quick to switch to AP, and of course, you always have the torpedo option in your toolkit. It's a really enjoyable ship to play, and yes, I do like hanging out in mid tier or low tier games because they're a lot more fun.
I had a whole comment written and then accidentally fat fingered the full screen button, which I completely forgot which one that was, and then hit a button that was binded to closing my browser. 10/10 from me. Great plays.
My most played ship and my first premium is Murmansk. It's one the ships I've had the most fun with and would love to see you in one! I'd love to see some more mid-tier games!
I’ve been playing a tonne of Dunky-Q and am loving the mid tier game play. The games are generally hard and fast with lots of pushes and close in fights. Sheer joy.
Atlanta is by far one of my favorite ships. Never regretted getting one and she really did me great during the T7 ranked season a while back while everybody went with their free Scharnhorst'43.
I remember when I used to play Atlanta a lot. It is fun, but my main issue with it is that it was very allergic to getting uptiered. Facing T8 ships or higher was a huge pain in the ass. Maybe if it was T6, it would be better, but I know WG doesn’t like to move ship tiers around.
Atlanta is imho one of the best T7 for ranked. Heavy IFHE build obliterates literally everything on that tier except Nelson (or whatever is name of that that BB with thick deck armor).
i can really recommend the abruzzi for T7.. gotten it some time ago from christmas idk tried it recently, the guns have nice velocity, good reload, fun with sansonettis captain, u get a spotter plane, amazing cocealment, hydro, its fast & maneuverable, it has a heal... its just great^^
Atlanta is still my go to combat missions ship in coop. Need general ribbons? Check. Aircraft shot down? Check? Main guns? Check. Torps? Check. Just a very easy boat to play and rack up ribbons and kills.
My top picks for mid tier: Fuso, Bayern, Mahan, Atlanta/Flint, and then Rooke, Sinop, and also a passing mention to KGV Nagato and Lyon Mid tier is insanely fun where the average person pushes and contests objectives, reminds me of the old days; and you can actually see battleships and cruisers going in once in a while
Ah I miss the RTS CV time, I was a CV player then. It was all about thinking about your losses and supporting your team, CV's were fighting against eachother! Good times.
NWC231 in game; I like the Atlanta so much I've got two of them; 1 regular and 1 black Atlanta. San Diego and Flint are n my wish list, lol. Atlanta's are fun ships!
I honestly don't really enjoy the gameplay much past tier 8 (but because of that I don't have a ton of high tiers to experience it with, so maybe that's an issue). I feel that sub capability, bb range/overmatch, and carriers in general cause the stagnant shitfest that is t10+. The power creep has affected the gameplay. When the first to move dies instantly, nobody wants to move. If tier 5-8 ships were less frustrating to play, things would be so much better...but then you wouldn't need to grind in order to avoid being bullied.
PQ is still the best wows youtuber! Welcome to wows in fun mode I hardly ever play T10 anymore, sometimes I go to T4 if I really don't want to see subs.
I have all the ATL ships. Atlanta, Flint, San Diego, and Chumphon, and I love them all but, then US CLs is one of my favorite lines and I have regrinded it many times. Yeah, ATL used to be a no fly zone where planes were concerned and it made since because the thing is a fucking AA cruiser. Even today they need to buff it because it has 16 127mm dual purpose guns so no plane should get anywhere near it.
I was legit thinking about requesting an Atlanta match, looks like I won't have to :D This is probably still my favourite ship in the game, over DM and moskva, nothing beats shredding a T7 BB from behind an island with 0 counterplay or blasting a DD with 3 salvoes at close range. It just rewards skill so hard. Only thing I don't like is reliance on matchmaking in terms of both tier and map but there has to be some price to pay for this amount of firepower. Oh and I miss the old AA, taking defensive AA is not even worth it these days, sad.
Fun replay to watch. But a favor now. How about taking a real look at Stord 43? It is the right tier. I think it is a good ship because of the super heal. But nobody is playing it. Would like to hear your opinion.
I remember buyingthe Atlanta because of its AA capability. Wholeheartedly believe refunds should have been offered for the ship. Same with premium CV's i actually liked the old RTS style. Hate the new one but WG pretty much said tough shit
Tier VII used to be my favourite, but it got hammered when they modified the matchmaker. I miss the days when you could deplane a carrier or kill one even wiht a dd if you got in close enough. They should really remove rocket planes again... would make dds a counter to cvs again.
remember when a proper cv could full hp - roflstomp your ass straight back 2 port in the first strike? nowadays every trained chimpanzee can annoy you and make ur life hell don't call it a grave, it's the future y'all CAsuals asked for
My favorite ships in the game are mostly T7. Yorck is great, made out of cardboard and chewing gum sure, but it's mains are pretty accurate at range and if you use the spotter.... there is a surprise there 😉 In fact maybe you should play the Yorck next 😋 Edit: Note that I don't have a single 21 point cmdr, I think the cmdr on my Yorck is a 12 or 14 point.
Games tend to be more enjoyable and people push more in mid-tiers because there isn't really Radar. Its a much more enjoyable experience at times. Radar is great, but man the threat of it is what makes games so passive in the higher tiers.
With all the CVs out there these days, I always take AA over Hydro... it's just more useful (75% of the time). for my Atlanta, I took the Captain Skill for HE Pen... sure, not quite as much in fires, but dayum if it doesn't rip up ships a lot more.
If they just get rid of CVs and subs, and limit each team to 1 radar, and 1 hydro.....brawling would be back. Everything in the T10 game is designed to punish any attempt at pushing.
i think ppl push lower tier because they moved up from co-op and the bots and players push in co-op. its when they get to tier 8 up they learn not to push, maybe due to double uptier and getting slaughtered trying to push like they're used to.
when I played, never cared much for tier 10 with all the "posturing".....low tier is a elementary school cafeteria food fight....mid tiers "let's get it on!!"
T7 is imo very enjoyable at the moment if you wanna play something else than T10 bcs theres agressive gameplay and you can still turn games around if you play your ship correctly (i have to admit that is related to the fact that there are more „noobs“ at T7) Definitely more enjoyable than loosing withinh 6 mins at T10 bcs the dds just throwing themselfs away and the bbs get onehealed
A ship where you just 100% die instantly if you do ANYTHING other than sitting behind an island and spamming HE for the entire game just doesnt seem fun to me
One of the biggest problems with ships where you are forced to lob over islands or shoot from smoke (Atlanta, Smolensk etc) is that you are so dependent on team spotting, which can be unreliable.
You can do more with this hull than just sit behind a rock..its a diva if you apply it.
De-planing a carrier with an Atlanta or Cleveland back in the day was great fun. I remember hitting DEF AA turned even the wimpiest AA ship into a plane Blender as long as it was active for.
im begging for the next ship request to be the hood, i barely see it now and im begging to see it
Hood will be better after the carrier rework.
@@dzelloreally, i got the hood the day it came out after watching sink the bismarck. It was so much fun but it gets eaten now i feel
