I keep wondering why we got rid of morel... Every once in a while he makes a play that makes me think that's why and then he does that. Morels defense those last 3 games was pretty spectacular and then poof.
@@TravisHoffnowhere near the best? Why do you say that? While I agree he's not the best. he is easily one of the best pitchers in the MLB... sub 3 era, 155 strikeouts started the year with his first 9 starts under .86 era and just tossed 7 no hit innings. He did that joining a new team and league in a new country.
Taylor McGregor...one of the best post game interviews I have seen. The right situational questions that the fans want to know. All sports journalists should study this clip. OUTSTANDING!
Incorrect. The Cubs have had several no hitters since 1972. Zambrano. JAKE twice. Mills. Davies combined. This was the first Cubs no hitter AT WRIGLEY since 1972.
Wow! How nervous would you be being the pitcher coming in last. As a Mets fan witnessing one of these fine gems a few years ago, it’s so awesome when it’s a combined no hitter. Way to go Cubbies. And one only three years ago for y’all also!
I work at American Family Field and I was there for the Zambrano no hitter vs Astros and for Mills in 2020. The Mills no hitter was so much fun for me because even though there were no fans in the park, I was still there working in the team store. I felt like I was the only fan at the no hitter. I got first base from that game!
mlb Shota Imanaga, Nate Pearson, and Porter Hodge combined to throw a no-hitter on 114 pitches, and Miguel Amaya caught them all to finish off the 18th no-hitter in Cubs history.
@@Nathan-kd9ud this is a very uniformed comment. You need to understand sports mentality. A batter's approach changes with the count and the consistency (or not) of the home plate umpire. It's the same thing with the mentality of the pitcher. Had the umpire called it a ball there is no telling what pitch would have been made next, nor what the hitter's approach would have been. That kind of thing is unpredictable.
It may not be as special/memorable as a starting pitcher finishing it off, but I don't hate on it like some people and definitely don't say "it doesn't count" lol... no hits = no hitter, simple. But it's still impressive tho, every reliever has to be on their A game. Sometimes it has taken 5+ pitchers to complete the game, they all have to deliver. And at same time make it even more embarrassing for the opponent...like they can't record a single hit vs whoever is pitching.
It certainly counts. But it's certainly not as impressive. They should keep them in different categories for historic sake. No Hitter and Combined No Hitter.
@@SeerMagicX: Given there have only been 21 combined no hitters, I'd say that's more impressive than the 300 or so no hitters that were done by 1 pitcher.
I find it a little odd, but when 1 pitcher throws a no-hitter, the team celebrates like they won a world series, but a combined no hitter, everyone is like yeah it's cool but no big deal.
That was the most chill no-hitter celebration I've seen. Maybe if they had more to play for they might have been more excited. Oh well, at least they're not the White Sox.
Extremely generous strike zone provided by the ump. He didn't call a strike on that first pitch to the last batter only because he needed to give his right arm a rest.
IMANAGA!!
Absolutely legendary the first ever no-hitter for the Cubs in Wrigley Field since 1972 😄🐻❤️💙
The First no hiiter from 1972 came from milt Pappas
@@justinclick2789 technically, the first no hitter in 1972 was Burt Hooton. Milt's was later in the season.

I think Imanaga probably could have gone at least 1 more inning if Paredes hadn't made 3 errors.

he's great but nowhere near the best let's stop

31 people thus far has given this a thumbs up. Unbelievable.
Shota Imanaga 7 IP 0 HER 2 BB 7K Best Pitching
I think a no-hitter and team bonding are the same thing. I want to applaud these great players.
Just got home from the game! Electric ! Should have left Shota in though, 120 pitches is nothing to him

hopefully, they'll be a contender team next year
NO CUBS NO
they need another starter, a closer, and a third baseman. That's pretty much it.
I was at Burt Hooten and Milt Pappas no-hitters in 72
Pappas threw a perfect game. Just ask him. Well, you can't anymore, but 45 years later, he was still pissed off.
