I actually grew up listening to A New Hope and Empire as the radio dramas since my parents had recorded the NPR broadcasts when they came out. I'm actually at the opposite end of the spectrum from you guys... the Radio Drama casts became for me the REAL voices of the characters to the point where Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher were drably playing their roles in comparison to what I had gotten used to with Perry King & Anne Sachs. I still hear Ben in Behren's voice instead of Sir Alec's. The Leia Organa interrogation scene (which we don't see in the movie since they slam the door on us) between Anne Sachs & Brock Peters was soooooo hard to listen to, but makes it that much more gripping.
I was fortunate to be at Griffith Observatory for the Premiere of the first Radio show, everyone was there Darth , R2 ,Mark Hamil and the Radio cast, the Observatory had a special lightshow during the playing of it on the ceiling,, among the stars amazing event...
, this is not Star Wars: A New Hope. This is "The Star Wars" as in George Lucas' original script published in May of 1974. This story would eventually evolve into the saga that is so well known and beloved nowadays.
I honestly love the radio drama even more than the movie itself. It's far more detailed and interesting.

Loved this when I was a Kid, it was all we had for a long time, never had a problem with Voices, maybe adults think too much?
Maybe. 🤔

I miss the aesthetics and design of late 70ies early 80ies Star Wars.
Me too. I love Ralph McQuarrie’s concept art for the OT. It always conjures that design period in my mind.
